Item type:Publication, The Study of Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate from Industrial Waste(2025-09-01) ;Kaewsit, Sriwan ;Sompong, Khanisorn ;Pakawanit, Phakkhananan ;Akkalatham, WareerathYongsiri, PloypailinThis study aims to investigate the utilization of lightweight expanded clay aggregate (LECA) produced by combining clay with industrial waste as a planting material for soil moisture retention. Lightweight expanded clay aggregate is a growing media material composed of clay pellets subjected to high temperatures. This substance is created by combining clay with pore-forming elements, such as pulverized waste from the automotive sector. The compressed waste particles comprise polymer fiber, glass shards, lubricating oil, and various other components. This waste is imported from overseas to serve as a cost-effective fuel source for energy production. In order to further develop its potential applications, it is combined with clay to investigate the feasibility of developing a novel substrate to replace materials like perlite and vermiculite that are currently in use. The experiment entails molding a mixture of clay and waste fragments in different proportions and subjecting them to fire at temperatures ranging from 700 to 800 degrees Celsius. The research results indicated that 30% of clay with 70% of industrial waste is the most suitable combination and slip casting parameters. Examining the physical and chemical characteristics of the LECA reveals that they possess pores capable of efficiently retaining water and moisture. The bulk density was 1.05 g/cm³, the apparent porosity was 53.21%, and the water absorption was 50.60%, which indicates their high capacity to absorb water. The pH of LECA suited for plant growth commonly lies within the range of 6.5 to 8, which is close to the suitable pH value. The experiment has yielded a novel, highly permeable, lightweight expanded clay aggregate that efficiently retains moisture in the topsoil and is available in many forms. Furthermore, using industrial waste and employing low-forming temperatures enable this innovation to be ecologically sustainable. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The impact of government policies and steel recycling companies' performance on sustainable management in a circular economy(2022-08-01) ;Taghipour, Amirhossein ;Akkalatham, Wareerath ;Eaknarajindawat, NatnapornStefanakis, Alexandros I.The purpose of this study was to determine how government policies affect the sustainable management in a circular economy in steel recycling manufacturing companies using Thailand as a case study. To develop and examine a structural equation model, a set of management sustainability indicators from previous studies was used. The study target's (steel recycling manufacturers) behavior was quantitatively analyzed using questionnaire-based surveys. The literature has rarely seen interactions between disparate research structures as a means of integrating circular economics, such as the intricate relationship between government policy and longer product life cycles, steel recycling, and sustainable circular economy management research. In the absence of the ability to regulate government benefits through businesses, businesses will speak to influence policy. It was found that broad enablers such as financial assistance, logistics, and fundraising guidance significantly influenced government policy solutions in the steel sector. Government policies promoting direct and indirect investment as a result of the adoption of the circular economy also heavily rely on infrastructure. Understanding how this policy affects customer perceptions and behavior enables businesses to continue advocating for the positive impact of policymaking on governments, industries, and customers. There is still room for additional research to examine the implications of various policies in different regions in order to determine those policies that are most likely to succeed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Circular Economy of Steel Recycling Companies in Thailand(2021-11-01) ;Taghipour, AmirhosseinAkkalatham, WareerathThe new “circular economy” model would revolutionize the economy. It should also be noted that several business models will be needed to optimize their efficiency and overlap as the system evolves over its lifetime. The business model of the circular economy is based on the principle of “value creation” of the conventional economy. In this study, we interviewed 67 managers from the steel industry in Thailand. Statistically, 71.2% of respondents felt that steel consumers would be able to pay a higher price for clean goods. Also, 87% believe that governments must contribute to the development of the circular economy. They said that their group also organizes training activities for educating the workforce. Moreover, 80.1% indicated that their organization must inform management and workers of the value of the circular economy. Accordingly, 64.7% of respondents stated that there is no government funding for scrap metal recycling. Overall, 36.3% of people felt there was a shortage of scrap metal work. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Pro-environmental behavior model creating circular economy in steel recycling market, empirical study in Thailand(2021-08-01) ;Akkalatham, WareerathTaghipour, AmirhosseinThe purpose of this study is to examine the variables that influence both the Circular Economy (CE) and pro-environmental behavior in steel recycling manufacturing companies in Thailand. To develop and examine a model using structural equation modeling (SEM), we used a set of CE indicators proposed in previous studies. The variables identified in this study were determined through responses from stakeholders in the steel manufacturing and scrap management industries. A questionnaire-based survey was used to analyze the study target's (foundries, castings, and steel recycling manufacturers) behavior. Respondents contended that they value long-term relationships with suppliers. Quality control has a sizable impact on lean manufacturing techniques. Recycling costs and environmental concerns both have an effect on how behavioral control is perceived. It is critical for society to be educated about the circular economy and its practices. Environmental commitment is the most critical factor in the circular economy's success. The findings indicate that the most significant influence on the Circular Economy is the social willingness to recycle (CE). The study investigates the relationship between social willingness to recycle (SWR) and lean manufacturing techniques (LMT) and the success of circular economy practices. Environmentally responsible behavioral practices both promote and contribute to high levels of productivity. The CE's promotion is critical in light of the current trend toward globalization. We propose that steel manufacturers must continue to innovate in technical or non-technical ways, most notably through the use of efficient equipment such as pre-shredders, shredders, and power plants that accelerate long-term mineral resource savings.
