Monitoring of vital signs is a necessary tool to diagnose the symptoms of illness. This work developed screen-printing inks for conductive nanomaterials to fabricate electrocardiogram (ECG)-compatible fabric electrodes. The contents of the polymer matrix, calcium carbonate additive filler, and conductive nanomaterials (silver nanoparticles and copper nanowires) on the resistivity of the composite inks were optimized. A facile process of screen printing was applied to fabricate the electrodes on fabric to create an efficient conductor with high stability in conduction. The fabricated electrodes exhibited flexible and bendable behavior over 0.7% bending strain for wearable components. The results showed that the fabricated electrode based on copper nanowires resistivity was 40.01 ± 1.94 k Ω/cm, and the proposed signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) was approximately 27.16 ± 9.37 dB. Therefore, these fabricated electrodes can be applied in wearable vital biosignal detection devices that perform with high sensitivity during movement, thereby providing health monitoring opportunities. Moreover, the fabricated electrodes can be used without excessive pressure or an electrolyte gel layer, thus overcoming the challenges of developing a portable device.

Electrospinning is the manufacturing technology for production nanoscale fibers from the polymer solution. The technique is operated in an electric field with high voltage electrical potential between two conductive electrodes. A needle is used as the anode in laboratory generally. However, the needle process is low productivity for commercialization. Free surface electrospinning is designed for solving the problem. Component use as electrodes isn't a needle. In this work represented a needle anode by a wire electrode for increasing mass production. Polymer solution droplets were entrained on a wire and control uniformity of themselves droplet. High voltage potential could be applied between wire and ground plate on the top. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) was used as a precursor to prepared nanofiber. Morphologies of nanofibers were characterized using scanning electron microscope, which informed surface description of the nanofiber. Free surface electrospinning is alternative electrostatic fiber formation technique that can produce the nanofibers thin films continuously. This process convenient for apply in roll to roll process and useful for large scale production.

In this work, cobalt oxide thin films were prepared by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) technique. The influence of the substrate temperatures on properties of film was investigated. Phase transformation of cobalt oxide thin films due to the effect of different substrate temperature was also observed. Cyclic voltammetry was used to measure the performance of cobalt oxide supercapacitor. At higher substrate temperature, the cobalt oxide thin films exhibit the high specific capacitance due to the effect of phase transformation in cobalt oxide films.

In this work, cobalt oxide thin films were prepared by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) technique on glass substrate. The influence of the annealing temperature on properties of cobalt oxide film was investigated. The structural, optical and morphology of cobalt oxide thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscope, respectively. The crystalline parameters such as crystalline size of films can be obtained from XRD spectra. Phase transformation due to the different annealing temperature in cobalt oxide film has been observed. Moreover, at the higher annealing temperature, the optical band gap in cobalt oxide films were shifted to lower value due to the change in crystalline size and the defect sites in films.
