This paper presents the design of PI controller using Decoupling and CRA technique for quadruple-tanks process. In case of, TITO interacting system such as quadruple-tanks process, the controller designs have been performed ambitiously because interferences between inputs and outputs. With the proposed method, The Decoupling controllers have been used for decreasing the cross coupling between inputs and outputs and transforming TITO plant transfer function into SISO form so that SISO controller for each SISO model can be designed easily and efficiently. Furthermore, Using CRA technique has made the output response achieve the required performance specification. Also, in non-minimum-phase, PI controller with inverted Decoupling can stabilize the system and minimize several undesirable influences from an interaction in TITO process. The results from control system design can be illustrated by the experiments. © 2011 ICROS.

The author present PID controller design for following control of hard disk drive by characteristic ratio assignment method. The study in this paper concerns design of a PID controller which sufficiently robust to the disturbances and plant perturbations on following control of hard disk drive. Characteristic Ratio Assignment (CRA) is shown to be an efficient control technique to serve this requirement. The controller design by CRA is based on the choice of the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial of the closed loop system according to the convenient performance criteria such as equivalent time constant and ration of characteristic coefficient. Hence, in this study, CRA method is applied in PID controller design for following control of hard disk drive. Matlab simulation results shown that CRA design is fairly stable and robust whilst giving the convenience in controller's parameters adjustment.

This paper presents the PID controller design for coupled-tank process using characteristic ratio assignment (CRA). The coupled-tank process is a challenge plant for testing the performance of PID controller because it is a high uncertainty nonlinear model. For this paper, the characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) which is satisfied specification of performance of control system. Furthermore, it is very convenient as a fast adjustment damping ratio as well as a high speed response. Finally, the simulation results can be illustrated the validity of our approach by MATLAB. © 2005 IEEE.
