Item type:Publication, A Gamification Approach to Information Visualization and Strategy Discovery - A Case of Thai Hotel Entrepreneur(2022-07-07); Savetpanuvong, PhannaphatrA rise in digital technology advancement has posed an abundance of information in the business world. Traditional reporting in small and medium enterprises is no longer adequate for making the right and timely decisions in strategic and operational management. Novel Business Intelligence (BI) tools provide an opportunity for business users to perform data analytics with dashboard multidimensional visualization. Data on 26,051 records in 2019 from a hotel business was acquired for this research. Business insights, which had not been discovered before by traditional reporting, were revealed regarding occupancy driving factors, customer behavior, accommodation preference, and channel efficiency. Two dashboards were developed with gamification design principles that allow business users to engage with hedonism during the data play for both strategic and tactical levels. Insights shed the light on users concerning actionable items on better campaign offering, hotel resource allocation optimization, and channel dependency balancing. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, WiseMed: Medication reminder for seniors(2019-10-01) ;Suwanthara, Juthada ;Noinongyao, AreenaToday, many people are very busy with their daily lives, so they may forget to take their medications on schedule, and their medication treatments may not be as effective as they are supposed to be. Several medication reminder applications for smartphones are already available in Thailand, but most of them share a general limitation that users need to enter their medication information and schedule by themselves. This limitation can lead to a new, serious problem: users inputting erroneous medication information or schedules into their smart-phones, especially elderly users. This paper proposes a medication reminder application that overcomes this problem. To eliminate this kind of critical data entry error, we retrieves information on the user's medication and schedule by scanning the QR code on the medication package. This application is not only able to automatically remind users to take their medication on schedule but also provides the user with basic and crucial medication information such as directions for use, precautions, and side effects. Moreover, the application also keeps track of a user's medication-taking history over time, so the physician can modify the medication schedule or the user behavior in his or her follow-up visit in order for the treatment to be as effective as possible. The evaluations demonstrate that QR code mitigate the seniors' errors by 42%. Additionally, our pipeline can identify the user's medication-taking behavior that violate the time-critical scheduled medications with almost perfect correlation with a standard guideline. Finally, all medical professionals confirm that our medication-taking report is crucial and very helpful. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Data Visualization for Helping Students Decide Which General Education Courses to Enroll: Case of Chulalongkorn University(2019-01-01) ;Cooharojananone, Nagul ;Dilokpabhapbhat, Jidapa ;Rimnong-ang, Thanaporn ;Choosuwan, ManutsayaBunram, PattamonChulalongkorn University has been utilizing information systems for course administration system, named CU-CAS, to help manage the course syllabus, course contents and course satisfaction survey. While current students have been selecting courses based on information from seniors and friends, we recognize that the data from CU-CAS could be useful in selecting course, but have not been fully utilized. Therefore, this project aims to design a data dashboard to help students select courses to register, based on the data from course satisfaction survey by students from the past three years of course offerings. In this work, we developed CU-CAS data visualization using Google Data Studio. Data were analyzed and presented the overall of the evaluation result in term of dashboard. According to our pilot study, students make decisions for enrollment by comparing the evaluation result in the past three years, in the form of different indicators. We also collected and analyzed data from the student blogs that review courses that they took using word cloud and Markov chain. Both data from CU-CAS and blogs will be represented to students to help students make decision in registering courses. This project is one of the e orts to utilize data in a way that is easy to understand to students, allow Chulalongkorn University to understand students learning behavior, and bring back to plan and adjust teaching strategies.1
