Ultra wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) signals must be able to accomodate its common frequency band at 7.25 GHz to 8.50 GHz. Moreover, the signals should not be distorted too much when they pass through the antennas. Therefore, the transfer function of antennas must to known for the channel performance. In free space loss is usually evaluated by using the formula of Friis's. However, Friis's formula it's not directly applicable to UWB-IR transmission. This study to presentation, the characterization of UWB-IR transmission in FCC with common frequency band that takes into account the transmission waveform in UWB, its consider the distortion due to the antennas and the correlator receiver. Since the antennas are significant pulse-shaping filters in UWB, various kinds of antennas are experimentally examined, especially focusing on the effect of template waveform receiver.

Impulse radio (IR) transmission is consider used in wireless personal area network (WPAN) for high speed and low power transmission and new innovation wireless technology. This paper propose a novel analysis of impulse radio transmission in WPAN for ultra wireless communications. The waveform distortion due to the antennas should be considered. The optimum and isotropic template receivers are considered based on Friis transmission formula. In this experimental study, the biconical antennas are uesd as the transmitter (Tx) and the receiver (Rx) antennas. The rectangular passband, which is satisfied the full band of UWB-IR definition and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) indoor limit spectral masks, is used as the transmitted waveform of UWB system. The channels are measured in an anechoic chamber by using a vector network analyzer (VNA). The measured data are evaluated in path loss of optimal and isotropic template receivers, the IR transmission gains and BER are shown and compared in results.

The conversion of pure 1-tetralone and its mixtures with n-decane, decalin, tetralin, or 1,5-dimethyl tetralin (DMT) has been investigated over HY zeolite. The dominant reactions undergone by 1-tetralone are the dehydrogenation to 1-naphthol and the subsequent isomerization to 2-naphthol. In the presence of hydrocarbons, the hydrogen transfer/dehydration of naphthols is accelerated, and naphthalene is formed in different amounts, depending on the nature of the co-fed hydrocarbon. In this contribution, it is demonstrated how the product distribution from the tetralone conversion can be used as an indicator of the hydrogen transfer ability of a particular hydrocarbon, or mixture of hydrocarbons. The relative order of hydrogen transfer ability of the various hydrogen donating compounds, as inferred from the naphthalene-to-naphthol product ratio, is DMT > tetralin ≈ decalin > n-decane. This trend agrees well with the hydride dissociation energy of individual donors calculated by DFT. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
