This paper presents a novel method for OFDM demodulation based on LMS adaptive filter. In this proposed method, data symbol is reconstructed from amplitude of reference signal without using fast Fourier transform and thus this method can be applied for real time system. In addition, the convergence rate of adaptive filter can be promoted by using the proper initial weights. The proposed technique will be applied for BASK-OFDM, BPSK-OFDM and QAM-OFDM demodulation. The obtained simulation results of the proposed method compared to the conventional scheme show that the proposed technique can be applied for real time processing of OFDM demodulation.

Adaptive algorithms are widely used for support a wide range of applications. The attractive one application is an echo canceller in the long distance telephone network. The performance improvement of the echo cancellers depends on the choice of the adaptive filtering algorithm. Therefore, in this paper the variable forgetting factor recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm for adaptive lattice structure filter for the echo canceller in telephone network is presented. The proposed echo canceller provides high performance and low misadjustment in steady state for all considered noise distributions.

In order to improve the performance of DS-CDMA receiver. This paper proposes a new adaptive equalizer that using a modified sign-Algorithm based on Laguerre filter structure. The proposed algorithm combined the construction methods of Signum operator and the difference of an error signal. The performance of proposed equalizer was compared with the conventional equalizer using LMS and RLS algorithms in multipath channel. This equalizer not only reduce the effected of ISI, MAI and AWGN but also minimizes the computational complexity when compared to the attractive RLS algorithm and support the long impulse response system. The function detail and performance result of the proposed equalizer are described by computer simulation in terms of the bit error rate (BER).

This paper proposes a sign-algorithm based on adaptive Laguerre filter structure for improving the performance of the direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) communication system. The proposed adaptive equalizer employs a combination of sign and least mean square (LMS) algorithms to minimizing the effect of inter-symbol interference (ISI) that arises due to multipath propagation, and the computational complexity of equalizer. The performance of proposed equalizer was compared with traditional equalizers such as LMS and RLS algorithms in terms of varying path. The function detail and performance results of the proposed equalizer are described by computer simulations in terms of the bit error rate (BER). © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper presents an implementation of least mean squared (LMS) adaptive filter using distributed arithmetic (DA) for hardware realization. Coefficient-distributive DA will be used instead of conventional DA for more appropriation to use with adaptive filter that filter coefficients are varied by time. Moreover, adder network and multiplexer structure will be used in coefficient-distributive DA which makes the proposed LMS adaptive filter be multiplierless digital filter and also without using look-up table (LUT). The VHDL is used for hardware design and then synthesis and configure onto FPGA for real-time adaptive filtering experiment. Finally, experimental and simulation results are shown to ensure our proposed LMS adaptive filter can work. © 2012 IEEE.

In this paper proposes an adaptive equalizer using Laguerre transversal filter and a RLS algorithm for adaptation in DS-CDMA mobile communication systems. The Laguerre structure is compromise between the FIR and IIR structures, since the Laguerre structure is always stable. We also analyze the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of the proposed equalizer and the conventional equalizer. The simulation results show that the performances of the proposed equalizer are better than the conventional equalizer, such as fast convergence and lower BER than the conventional adaptive equalizer for every E<inf>b</inf> / n<inf>0</inf> value.

In this paper presents the comparison of the performance of the variable step-size LMS adaptive algorithm and the fixed step-size LMS adaptive algorithm for cancels multiple echoes signal in telephone networks. The core of this paper is a multiple delay estimator, which estimates and distributes delays to each individual fixed length short echo canceller. It is shown that the variable step-size LMS adaptive algorithm yields the performances over the fixed step-size LMS algorithm. Computer simulation results are provided to confirm the performances of the variable step-size LMS algorithm. ©ICROS.

This paper proposes a design and implementation of transversal adaptive digital filter using LMS (Least Mean Squares) adaptive algorithm. The filter structure is based on Distributed Arithmetic (DA), which is able to calculate the inner product by shifting, and accumulating of partial products and storing in look-up table, also the desired adaptive digital filter will be multiplierless filter. In addition, the hardware implementation uses VHDL (Very high-speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language) and synthesis using FLEX10K Altera FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) as target technology and uses Leonardo Spectrum and MAX+plusII program for overall development. The results of this design are shown that the speed performance and used area of FPGA. The experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the desired adaptive digital filter.. © 2006 IEEE.
