Item type:Publication, RARE EARTH OXIDE DIELECTRICS FOR FLEXIBLE TRIBOELECTRIC NANOGENERATOR(2025-01-01) ;Kingkam, Wilasinee ;Issarapanacheewin, Sudarat ;Ukasi, Sirinya ;Pulphol, PhierayaPakawanit, PhakkhanananRare earth oxides (REO) are well known in catalysts, glass-related industries, and permanent magnets manufacturing for almost 70%, according to the mature industry. This work proposes the new developments of REO as the emergence for mechanical energy harvesting (MEH) technology. The binary-system of REO or R<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, including La<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, Sm<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> and Nd<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, are used as dielectric materials to incorporate polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for fabricating flexible triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG), one of MEH devices. The change in REO’s amount was studied at 0.5, 2.5, 5, and 10 wt%. Upon applying mechanical force in vertical direction, the PDMS/R<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> TENG can convert mechanical energy into electricity for the best value of ~66 V and ~93 μA with power density of about ~62 μW·cm-2. The PDMS/La<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf> can be used to fully charge the 0.22 and 0.33 μF capacitor within 3 seconds and power up over 100 LEDs directly. Moreover, the influence of triboelectric polarity and dielectricity on the triboelectric output performance is scientifically discussed by following the percolation point with air breakdown limitation’s theory. The researcher believes that the knowledge of this work will be inexhaustible useful to develop a group of REO in broad applications of MEH electronics in future. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Intermediate matching layer for light-induced performance and removable clip-on applications of four-terminal perovskite/silicon heterojunction tandem solar cells(2023-05-01) ;Sanglee, Kanyanee ;Sakunkaewkasem, Siwakorn ;Piromjit, Channarong ;Nukunudompanich, MethaweeKanjanaboos, PongsakornPerovskite/silicon tandem solar cells are one of the most efficient ways to improve the performance of the photovoltaic industry and should be viewed as a promising path in the photovoltaic field. The silicon photovoltaic modules have a lifespan of over 20 years, while the low device stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) remains a significant commercialization barrier. An air gap acts as an optical spacer layer for four terminal (4T) perovskite/silicon tandem cells, resulting in a loss of efficiency. Using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as an intermediate matching layer (IML) and a clip-on design made of a PDMS-based material sandwiched between polyvinyl chloride (PVC) layers with the configuration of PVC/IML/PVC, this research not only achieved efficiency improvement of four-contact tandem solar cells but also greatly simplified disassembly of individual cells. The 4T perovskite/silicon heterojunction tandem cells with a clip-on design achieved the highest efficiency of 23.49% for the active area of 1 cm2, while the fully tandem configuration without a clip-on layer only exhibited a PCE of 22.83%. The clip-on technology has the potential to boost the current density of silicon heterojunction solar cells from 15.01 mA/cm2 (for the filtered bottom cell with an air gap) up to 16.51 mA/cm2 (for the filtered bottom cell with a clip-on). Therefore, this state-of-the-art allows for the removal of PSCs with a shorter lifespan while adhering two photovoltaic cells together securely and effectively. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of Piezoelectric Phase on Electrical Properties of PDMS-Based Nanocomposites(2021-01-01) ;Kongjaiman, Patiparn ;Yunsamarn, PreedapornVittayakorn, WanwilaiIn this work, nanocomposite between polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and barium titanate (BT) are prepared in order to use as piezoelectric nanogenerator. Barium titanate phase with various amounts and shapes such as nanoparticles and nanowires are synthesized via appropriated methods. The PDMS and BT phases are homogeneously mixed and casted into 3 cm x 4 cm rectangle. Phase formation, chemical property and microstructure of these nanocomposites are identified via XRD, FTIR and SEM methods, respectively. Both frequency and temperature dependences of dielectric properties for all samples are measured by LCR meter. The piezoelectric properties of these nanocomposites are performed by study the generated output voltage and current after applying the mechanical force to the samples. From those results, it is concluded that the electrical properties of these BT/PDMS nanocomposites strongly depend on amounts and forms of piezoelectric filler. The orientation of polarization within the BT crystal shows an important role for piezoelectric properties of these nanocomposites. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of surface treatment on electrical properties of polydimethylsiloxane based triboelectric nanogenerator(2020-01-01) ;Panprom, Parinya ;Vittayakorn, NaratipNawanil, ChanisaThis research investigated the effect of surface treatment on electrical properties of flexible triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was used as triboelectric layer. The PDMS pads were prepared by simple casting method and the effect of surface treatments by heat and acid was examined. Physical morphology of treated samples were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Electrical properties were measured under continuous periodic knocking. The results revealed that the heat-treated PDMS-based TENG showed the outstanding output voltage. The maximum output voltage of heat-treated based TENG reached approximately 9 V, which was over 4 times larger than those of normal PDMS based TENG. The research demonstrated the feasibility to utilize PDMS-based TENG as an energy harvesting device and presented a cost-effective method for producing high-efficiency PDMS based TENG. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Electrical and dielectric properties of barium titanate–polydimethylsiloxane nanocomposite with 0-3 connectivity modified with carbon nanotube (CNT)(2019-01-02) ;Nawanil, Chanisa ;Makcharoen, Worawut ;Khaosa-Ard, Krittanat ;Maluangnont, TosapolVittayakorn, WanwilaiThis study explored the preparation and electrical properties of 0–3 barium titanate/polydimethylsiloxane nanocomposites by dispersing barium titanate nanoparticles (BaTiO<inf>3</inf>; BT) into the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix phase. The effect of barium titanate nanoparticles on electrical properties has been investigated systematically, and the relative permittivity of nanocomposites was found to increase significantly with increasing barium titanate content. Different theoretical models were used to predict the dielectric constant of these composites and compare their experimental value with the theoretical value in order to find an appropriate equation. The result indicated that the dielectric properties of composites are influenced not only by relative permittivity of the components but also dependence on interactions between ceramics and polymers. Furthermore, the preparation and dielectric properties of BT/PDMS nanocomposites modified with carbon nanotube (CNT) were also studied. The dielectric results demonstrate that adding CNT can enhance the relative permittivity of the BT/PDMS composite via improvement of dispersion and distribution of the BT nanoparticles in the PDMS matrix phase. Moreover, the electrical outputs from the BT/PDMS/CNT nanocomposites generator were measured under periodic knocking. The nanocomposites innovatively expand the feasibility of self-powered energy systems for smart sensor and energy harvesting applications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of surface treatment on electrical properties of barium titanate/carbon nanotube/polydimethylsiloxane nanocomposites(2018-09-05) ;Nawanil, C. ;Panprom, P. ;Khaosa-Ard, K. ;Makcharoen, W.Vittayakorn, N.Piezoelectric-based polymer composite for flexible self-powered materials have been of interest. In this research, the effect of surface treatment on electrical properties of barium titanate/carbon nanotube/polydimethylsiloxane (BT/CNT/PDMS) composites has been studied for acquiring high performance materials. In the preparation of BT/CNT/PDMS nanocomposite, the surface of CNT and BT disperse phases were modified to introduce a functional groups. These chemical treatments devoted to improve the interfacial interactions and dispersion by introduce the strong interaction between BT, CNT and PDMS. The measured electrical outputs of the modified BT based nanocomposites showed higher output voltage than the normal composite. It is indicates that the strong interaction between fillers and polymer matrix is the important factor to improved electrical properties of the composites. Furthermore, the results also shown an enhancement of relative permittivity and maintaining a low loss of polymer nanocomposites, which indicates that the dielectric properties of composites are influenced not only by relative permittivity of the components, but also dependence on interactions between ceramics and polymers.
