Item type:Publication, Component Analysis for Driving Factors of Social Media Usage in Elderly Tourism(2025-07-08) ;Suwannakoot, RossukonPaireekreng, WorapatThe mobile users have become the paradigm shift of the people communication since the social media application on mobile phone has been introduced. It has been widely used among people, especially, elderly. There is a variety of use in social media application. In addition, the important area used by elderly is tourism. This study analyses the components of factors influenc ing social media usage in the tourism industry among the elderly. This is to understand, engaging, and user-friendly while inspiring travel. Mobile applications are also essential tools that make it easier for elderly individuals to access tourism information. By utilizing mobile applications, travel routes, accommodation information and points of interest can be presented in ways that help elderly individuals prepare more effectively before traveling. Presenting tourism information through mobile applications also allows elderly individuals to explore destinations in advance, reducing concerns and increasing confidence in travel planning. Moreover, social media helps the elderly feel confident and fully informed before visiting a destination on their own. The research sample consisted of n = 405 elderly individuals aged 60 years and older who have used social media for tourism in Thailand. The sample was selected using a multi-stage random sampling method, and the sample size was calculated using Yamane’s (1973) formula at a 0.95 confidence level and a 0.5 acceptable error rate. The social platforms empower elderly individuals to feel confident and well-informed before visiting destinations in person. Nevertheless, the driving factors to encourage elderly usage over the tourism social media are needed to provide the appropriate features on the application. Therefore, this research studied the component analysis which the results reveal that the influence of social media usage through mobile applications significantly impacts elderly participation in online tourism platforms. Notably, enjoyment in sharing experiences, such as interacting with others, accounts for 30.041% of data variance; ease of communication, such as using social media to search for information and contact service providers, accounts for 27.238% and collaborative learning, such as using social media with friends or within online groups, accounts for 21.77%. The study highlights that multimedia usage among the elderly in the tourism industry with Facebook and YouTube as primary platforms on mobile applications holds strong potential within elderly communities. Multimedia serves not only as a vital source of information but also as a tool to build confidence, provide enjoyment and foster connections between the elderly and online communities. Research on factors influencing social media use in elderly tourism, particularly in Thailand, is limited. This study explores factors affecting elderly use of mobile applications, including enjoyment of sharing experiences, communication convenience, and collaborative learning in online groups–areas not thoroughly examined in existing studies. Additionally, the use of multimedia on platforms like Facebook and YouTube in elderly tourism contexts remains understudied. This research addresses this gap by providing a detailed exploration of social media use among the elderly and the role of mobile technology in promoting tourism within this demographic. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Teaching art via digital technology for the elderly applying with inclusive design: A review(2024-01-01) ;Kasemsarn, KittichaiSawadsri, AntikaArt studies and activities for older adults have received significantly less attention as a result of prohibitively expensive materials that are unfit for commercial use, and research utilizing digital technology to investigate artistic activities for older adults is extremely limited. The purpose of this article is to analyze and review recent research in these fields to summarize the current trends. The literature review comprised 108 articles from databases that included Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The papers were subjected to a thorough examination by the VOSviewer program and researchers, who utilized content analysis to classify them into four themes: 1) inclusive design; 2) accessibility; 3) digital art therapy and 4) digital technology environments. Further investigation and development are necessary to propose a novel approach to instructing senior-level art utilizing cutting-edge technologies, which could be enhanced by the findings of this review article. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Development of Elderly Life Quality Database in Thailand with a Correlation Feature Analysis(2022-04-01) ;Nillaor, Pichetwut ;Sriwichian, Anirut ;Wanichsombat, Apirat ;Kajornkasirat, SiriwanBoonjing, VeeraUnderstanding the context of the elderly is very important for determining guidelines that improve their quality of life. One problem in Thailand, in this context, is that each organization involved in caring for the elderly has its own separate data collection, resulting in mismatches that negatively affect government agencies in their monitoring. This study proposes the development of a central database for elderly care and includes a study of factors affecting their quality of life. The proposed system can be used to collect data, manage data, perform data analysis with multiple linear regression, and display results via a web application in visualizations of many forms, such as graphs, charts, and spatial data. In addition, our system would replace paper forms and increase efficiency in work, as well as in storage and processing. In an observational case study, we include 240 elderly in village areas 5, 6, 7, and 8, in the Makham Tia subdistrict, Muang district, Surat Thani province, Thailand. Data were analyzed with multiple linear regression to predict the level of quality of life by using other indicators in the data gathered. This model uses only 14 factors of the available 39. Moreover, this model has an accuracy of 86.55%, R-squared = 69.11%, p-Value < 2.2 × 10−16, and Kappa = 0.7994 at 95% confidence. These results can make subsequent data collection more comfortable and faster as the number of questions is reduced, while revealing with good confidence the level of quality of life of the elderly. In addition, the system has a central database that is useful for elderly care organizations in the community, in support of planning and policy setting for elderly care. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Study of Using the IoT-based Angklung Smart Band System to Support Music Group Activities for the Elderly in Nursing Homes(2022-01-01) ;Cooharojananone, Nagul ;Phoasavadi, Pornprapit ;Hiranpanthaporn, Saranya ;Wongratanapitak, PaphutsornAtchariyachanvanich, KanokwanAngklung, the Indonesian musical instrument, has been used to promote the well-being of the elderly with music group activities. This leads to a shortage of hand sign angklung music experts in the city. This musical group activity is not widely utilized. The 'Angklung Smart Band' is an IoT-based solution designed to assist angklung music experts or nursing home caregivers in Thailand in supporting angklung music group activities for the elderly. The system consists of a web application, Internet of Things devices, and angklung musical instruments linked through a wireless network. In this study, we evaluated the use of the angklung smart band to facilitate music group activities for the elderly in nursing homes. We compared the outcomes to the conventional hand sign method for promoting music group activities. We assessed the use of a smart band system with two groups of the elderly: a home group and a bedridden group. The results revealed that this approach is more appropriate for the home group than the bedridden group, since they can independently participate in music group activities. Consequently, the expert can focus on interaction with other elderly in order to ensure that all the elderly are always engaged in activities. A statistical analysis of the playing accuracy percentage showed that the smart band system can execute angklung music group activities as well as the hand sign method.
