    How Key Success Factors Improve Delay Mitigation in Construction Projects: The Mediating Role of Project Readiness

    Construction projects continue to experience persistent schedule delays that adversely affect cost efficiency, quality, productivity, and stakeholder satisfaction. Although prior studies have extensively examined the causes of delays, limited empirical evidence explains how integrated managerial success conditions proactively improve delay mitigation capability. This study investigates the structural relationships among Key Success Factors (KSF), Project Readiness (PR), and Delay Mitigation (DM) in construction projects. The analysis primarily focuses on delay mitigation during the construction execution phase, where managerial capability and project readiness directly influence schedule performance and disruption response. A quantitative research design was employed using questionnaire data collected from 308 construction professionals in Thailand. KSF was conceptualized as a higher-order construct reflected by Project Execution Capability, Managerial and Digital Support, and Supply Chain Capability. Data was analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling. The findings indicate that KSF significantly enhances both Project Readiness and Delay Mitigation, while Project Readiness positively contributes to delay mitigation performance and partially mediates the relationship between managerial capability and project delay mitigation outcomes. The study provides an integrated capability-based framework and practical guidance for improving project delivery performance in uncertain construction environments.

    Empowering Sustainable Project Success in Construction: The Strategic Role of Green HRM and Green Human Capital Through Green Construction Practices and Green Work Climate

    In response to increasing demand for environmental sustainability, construction firms are progressively adopting green-oriented management approaches to enhance long-term project success. This study examines the relationship between Green Human Resource Management (GHRM), Green Human Capital (GHC) and Sustainable Project Success (SPS) within the construction sector, with Green Work Climate (GWC) as moderator and Green Construction Practices (GCP) as mediator. Drawing upon the Resource-Based View (RBV), Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV), and Ability-Motivation-Opportunity (AMO) theory, the study explains how green human competencies and HR systems are associated with project sustainability. Data were collected from 436 construction professionals in Bangkok, Thailand, through online questionnaires, and analyzed using SmartPLS 4 and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis. The findings indicate that GHRM is positively associated with SPS, while GHC demonstrates an indirect relationship with SPS through GCP. The moderating effect of GHC was not supported. These results contribute to sustainable construction management literature by clarifying the mechanisms through which green human resources are converted to sustainability, offering practical implications for construction firms seeking to institutionalize sustainability through structured HR policies and operational practices.

    Knowledge governance and project success: the role of knowledge sharing, effective team leadership, and organizational culture

    Knowledge governance is a critical factor to play and manage the knowledge related activities in projects and consequently the overall success of a project. This research paper aims to investigate the role of Knowledge Governance (KG) on Project Success (PS) in Pakistani major construction projects. Further, the paper investigates the mediating role of Efficient Team Leadership (ETL) and Knowledge Sharing (KS), and the moderating role of Organizational Culture (OC) between KG and PS. A quantitative study design was carried out using survey data collected through construction professionals in Pakistan. A total of 374 valid replies were examined using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS 4 to evaluate the potential relationship among the studied variables. The results demonstrate that KG substantially enhances PS. The exchange of knowledge, encompassing explicitly stated and implicit aspects, partially mediates this relationship with differing degrees of impact. ETL partially mediates by enhancing coordination, decision-making, and project execution. Furthermore, OC favorably influences the relationship between KG and PS, hence augmenting the efficacy of approaches to governance. This research expands contingency theory and knowledge-based theory by introducing a comprehensive framework that elucidates the mediating and regulating mechanisms connecting knowledge governance to project success within Pakistan’s construction industry.

    Analysis of Key Factors of Cost Overrun in Construction Projects Based on Structural Equation Modeling

    Cost overruns are prevalent in global construction industries, propelled by the swift expansion of the construction sector. To tackle this difficulty, it is essential to comprehend the primary elements leading to these overruns. This research examines the correlation between systematic elements affecting construction costs via a literature review, expert interviews, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM). A theoretical framework analyzes contract management, resource distribution, and external environmental factors affecting cost overruns. Twenty-four criteria were selected via literature review and expert consultation, and data from 212 questionnaires were analyzed. The results identify 22 critical elements classified into project management, resources, supply chain, and external and environmental influences. Project management and resources, together with supply chain, exerted the most significant influence. SEM study indicates that management inadequacies intensify resource problems, whereas proficient internal management alleviates external difficulties. This research offers practical recommendations for mitigating budget excesses and enhancing project cost-effectiveness.
