Item type:Publication, Tire Pressure Monitoring System Using Low-Frequency RFID Energy Harvesting(2023-01-01) ;Lermthong, Sommart ;Airphaiboon, SurapanWisavataksin, SumekIn this paper, we deploy the RFID technology for a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). RFID has the distinguishing feature for transmitting power wirelessly to a TPMS device. This enables the TPMS system to work battery-less and overcome the disadvantages associated with batteries. Our proposed system receives power from a low-frequency 134.2 kHz transmitter and stores it in a capacitor to enable the TPMS transponder. This power can successfully operate and transmit data from the sensor through the ultra-high-frequency 433 MHz to a reader installed inside the vehicle. The experimental results showed that it took only 34 seconds to charge the power when the reader distance was 6 cm, and the speed was 100 km/h. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Neurofeedback System(2019-11-01) ;Lochotinunt, Chanin ;Suwanpathumlert, Nattasasi ;Masawat, Nattachai ;Airphaiboon, SurapanPintavirooj, C.Nowadays, reading is one of the essential factors in learning. However, there are problems which make reading ineffective or time-wasting on comprehending the points read. The most efficient method to read is associated with our concentration. Practicing concentration allows us to control this factor. In this study, neurofeedback is applied in this situation together with the Neurosky Mindset measuring Electroencephalogram (EEG) to indicate the concentration level by the lamp which connects to the Arduino board informing the user about their state of concentration from the output. The output illustrates that the light will dim when the concentration level drops below the threshold. Making lamp's light brighter, you need to adjust your concentration level to be higher than a threshold. Moreover, the concentration level output will be demonstrated on the smartphone application. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Evaluation of WUWB Transmission with LOS and NLOS for Smart Home(2018-07-02) ;Chamchoy, Monchai ;Suwan, Supakorn ;Airphaiboon, SurapanPromwong, SathapornWireless ultra-wideband communications technology (WUWB) is a fast popular technology because many unique attractive features that promotes development about wireless communications, networking. WUWB has so high elevated and also allows the force spectral intensity to be so few, and the force limits on UWB are being severely limited by the regulatory bodies. Technology offers plenty advantages, particularly about terms of so high data transmission rates which are good above those probable with currently deployed technologies. The optimization of data transmission is to use multiantenna WUWB method. So, as an alternative, a multiantenna can be used to reduce the error rate as well as improve the quality and capability of wireless transmission by directing, with an aim to adventure the spatial diversity in the channel. The benefits of such a system can be found in independent relationships. This paper presents the spatial effects about transmitter/receiver relations for multiantenna UWB systems under line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) situation. A comparison results exhibit that the relations reduce as the antenna length expand for the scenario. In the example of a NLOS situation, the relations does not rely on the spacing. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Bedside patient monitoring by NFC(2017-02-21) ;Lermthong, Sommart ;Suwanna, PrapakornAirphaiboon, SurapanThe application of NFC for medical data collection is introduced in this research in order to reduce the process of vital signs measurement including heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature. By deploying a smartphone, all measured signals and records can be collected automatically via RFID chip from patient's beds. The proposed system is controlled from the smartphone through Android SDK by transmitting radio frequency to the target RFID chip and communicates with the microcontroller via RS232 serial port. All data are retrieved back and displayed in the smartphone. The microcontroller has EEPROM memory for recording all measured results continuously. This system improves the patient data collection process by reducing time, increasing the accuracy and easy to use. The results show that the percent of accuracy is about 90%. Item type:Publication, Medical image encryption based on DCT-DWT domain combining 2D-DataMatrix Barcode(2016-02-04) ;Nambutdee, AmaritAirphaiboon, SurapanIn this paper, an application for medical image encryption and watermarking to store patient information is proposed. By using scrambling algorithm, the 1st view patient information is hidden and require unique patient password to access a real image. For watermarking scene, a Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) are applied to non-overlapping block size 8x8 image pixels. Later, a DWT and DCT coefficient value are compared in each block for position identification of embed message in medical image. To improve high capacity and imperceptibility in watermarking step, a Two Dimension Barcode ECC200 standard is used to convert message before embed to cover image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves better performance of imperceptibility. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Robustness study of ECG biometric identification in heart rate variability conditions(2014-01-01) ;Pathoumvanh, Somsanouk ;Airphaiboon, SurapanHamamoto, KazuhikoElectrocardiogram (ECG) has been actively proposed as an aliveness biometric for years. In realistic application, this type of biometrics still needs to be verified in some conditions related to the practical use. Therefore, we propose in this paper the study of two themes that concern its realistic application. First, the single beat of an electrocardiogram (SB-ECG) is used as the ECG feature, which aims to decrease the time to acquire the ECG from the individual. Second, for the robustness study of ECG features to heart rate variability (HRV), we investigate the relation between the correct identification and the HRV conditions. The HRV-ECG data is set up and collected by using the Bio-Pac system. The overall processes of the proposed method are the following: Continuous wavelet transform (CWT) is used to analyze each SB-ECG. Then the root-mean square (RMS) value of total energy of the wavelet coefficients of each P, QRS, and T segment is calculated. Next, the Fisher linear discriminant analysis (FLDA) is applied to all sets of the RMS value for dimension reduction. Lastly, the normalized Euclidean distance is implemented as the classifier. The experimental results demonstrate that, with the proposed method, the classification achieves 97% accuracy and the robustness study achieves over 80% accuracy with HRV-ECG change up to 20%. © 2014 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Item type:Publication, ECG analysis for person identification(2013-12-01) ;Pathoumvanh, Somsanouk ;Airphaiboon, Surapan ;Prapochanung, BenjawanLeauhatong, ThurdsakElectrocardiogram (ECG) has been actively proposed as aliveness biometric. In this paper, the study which concern to a realistic application is proposed. Firstly, a single lead normal ECG signal is acquired from individuals of 10 subjects. Then, each single beat ECG is segmented and analyzed in Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) domain. Total energy of wavelet coefficients for each P, QRS, and T segment is calculated. Next, the Fisher Linear Discriminant Analysis (FLDA) is applied. Finally, normalized Euclidean distance is implemented as a classifier. In experimental results, 97% of classification accuracy is achieved in case of a normal ECG (with non-variation of heart rate). © 2013 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, New technique for embedding watermark image into an audio signal(2009-12-01) ;Kaengin, Sarawut ;Airphaiboon, SurapanPathoumvanh, SomsanoukAn audio watermarking algorithm which embedded watermark image is presented in this paper. A binary watermark image is embedded into an audio signal. For embedding process, the original audio signal is decomposed to wavelet domain by using wavelet basis. In order to obtain the robustness watermark signal, low frequency coefficients are selected and then divided to several segments. A mean of each segment is calculated and applied for the voting technique combination with mean-quantization performs embedding the watermark into the original audio signal. After original audio signal is embedded, the watermarked audio signal distortion is still inaudible. In addition, the watermark image could be recovered without using the original audio signal in extracting process. The experimental results show that the watermark image obtained from this algorithm is robust to many attack operations, such as Additive White Gaussian Noise, resampling, requantization, low pass filtering, and mp3 compression. ©2009 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, ECG data compression using adaptive Beat subtraction method(2008-12-01) ;Pathoumvanh, Somsanouk ;Airphaiboon, SurapanHamamoto, KazuhikoThis paper proposes an adaptive beat subtraction method for ECG compression scheme, which can be maximized the compression ratio (CR) and minimized the percent root- mean-square difference (PRD). The compression process of this scheme is based on the wavelet domain, combining with the various preprocessing process such as: beat detection, beat normalization and beat difference. The advantage of this scheme is applied the adaptive average beat subtraction before introduce to the scalar quantization process and Huffman coding process. Since, ECG signal is generally composed of a number of beats, repeated at fairly regular intervals. The Huffman code should be able to increase the compression ratio by using adaptive average beat subtraction method. This method is operated the subtraction between an adaptive average beat with individual normalized beat intervals. The experimental results show the compression performance of the proposed method refer to the MIT/BIH arrhythmia database and the record 114, 222, and 234 have been employed as input data. The obtained of compression ratio is approximately 4 to 15, and the percent root-mean-square difference is 0.05% to 1.5%. © 2008 IEEE.
