Item type:Publication, An application to train eye movement control among Thai juniors(2021-01-01)Aranyanak, InthrapornReading is an important skill for acquiring knowledge throughout life. Without the ability to read fluently, opportunities for personal fulfilment and career achievements will be decreased. This study developed an application exploiting the concept of a word’s optimal viewing position (OVP) with a gaming design to encourage students to read and practice their eye movement control to recognise a word quickly. A pilot study was conducted by training grade 3 students with the application with the OVP to guide their eye fixation for 7 days to explore if their reading performance improved. Before and after training sessions were conducted without using the OVP. The result shows that those students have increased their reading performance approximately 61% after the training sessions without the OVP and approximately 64% with the OVP guide. The optimal viewing position game helps the readers recognise words faster. Quantitative data were collected using Net Promoter Score (NPS). The finding shows the application has an NPS score of 33 indicating that the application is doing good and has more happy users than unhappy ones. Qualitative data was also collected by interview and found that the children were satisfied with the interface design, the application is easy to use, but they were not familiar with some words causing them to be mispronounced. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, UX-Based Design of A Mobile Application for Thai Seniors(2020-06-05) ;Aranyanak, InthrapornCharoenporn, PattamaMobile technology has become a vital part of our lives. There is a large number of studies to develop mobile applications. Nevertheless, some of them were not designed for the elderly to use easily. By 2021, Thailand will become a full-fledged ageing society. Workers aged more than 45 will be at greater risk of losing their job because of economic recession or the growth of AI technology. This paper demonstrates the usability testing of mobile job applications comparing three popular job apps used in Thailand. An analytical tool for prototypes and the System Usability Scale (SUS) were used to collect and analyse data. The main usability metrics in this study are effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction. The results show that using ambiguous labels, icons with multiple meanings, and using a "hamburger" icon can cause Thai senior users to become disoriented and affect their performances. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Usability tests of Thai mobile banking UI design(2020-01-01)Aranyanak, InthrapornNowadays, many banking customers process their transactions via mobile banking applications because of the convenience. This study examines five well-known Thai mobile banking applications to measure their usability and compares their UI design from the perspective of nine main functions. An analytical tool for prototypes and the System Usability Scale (SUS) were used to collect and analyse data. The usability test of the five mobile banking applications in this paper involves three usability metrics: effectiveness showing the completion rate, efficiency showing the time used to successfully complete a task, and satisfaction using SUS to evaluate users' satisfaction with the product. This paper presents problems found in poor UI design and suggests how to improve mobile banking UI design.
