    Influence of a Green Environmental Orientation on Corporate Sustainable Performance in the Manufacturing Sector
    (2025-03-01)
    Chen, Jian
    ;
    As sustainability becomes a strategic imperative in the manufacturing sector, firms are increasingly adopting green environmental practices to enhance their competitive advantage and long-term viability. This study investigates the influence of an Internal (IGEO) or External Green Environmental Orientation (EGEO) on the Green Competitive Advantage (GCA), Green Innovation (GI), and Sustainable Performance (SP). Specifically, this research assesses the direct impact of an IGEO and EGEO on the GCA and GI, as well as their mediating roles in achieving sustainability objectives. To empirically validate the proposed conceptual framework, this study employs structural equation modeling (SEM) using survey data collected from 468 manufacturing firms in China. The findings reveal that an IGEO and EGEO are significant drivers of a GCA and GI, both of which, in turn, positively influence Sustainable Performance. The results underscore the importance of aligning internal sustainability initiatives with external environmental expectations to achieve superior long-term sustainability outcomes. This study contributes to the literature on green management by offering empirical evidence of the mechanisms through which a green orientation fosters sustainability. The insights derived have practical implications for firms seeking to integrate their internal capabilities with external environmental demands to develop a comprehensive and effective sustainability strategy. These findings serve as a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners aiming to enhance green competitiveness and innovation in the manufacturing sector.

    China is the most polluted economy in the world, facing the challenges of increased CO<inf>2</inf> emissions. In this way, energy consumption is a key factor in CO<inf>2</inf> emissions. To this end, this study empirically examines the effects of financial inclusion and education on energy consumption by employing the ARDL approach for China during the period 1995–2019. The results suggest that financial inclusion has a positive effect on renewable energy consumption, but a negative impact on renewable energy and total energy consumption. The results show that education reduces non-renewable consumption and increases renewable energy consumption in the long term. Long-run and short-run findings are also consistent and robust in the sensitivity analysis. Based on findings, China should invest in the education sector and increase financial inclusion to reduce energy consumption to meet environmental sustainability.

    Green infrastructure has been considered as one potential solution for improving air quality as well as enhancing environmental sustainability in the modern era. Therefore, the study aims to examine the impact of green economic infrastructure on environmental sustainability in one belt and road initiative (OBRI) economies for the period 2007 to 2019. For empirical investigations, the study adopts 2SLS and GMM approaches. The study uses three proxies to measure green economic infrastructure, namely, green logistics, use of the internet, and green technology. Our 2SLS findings demonstrate that green logistics increases CO2 in OBRI, Central Asia, MENA and reduces CO2 in Europe. However, GMM findings report that green logistics increases CO2 in OBRI, central Asia, and MENA and reduces CO2 in Europe. While our 2SLS findings show that internet use reduces CO2 in OBRI and East and Southeast Asia Europe and increases CO2 in MENA. While GMM findings reveal that the use of the internet reduces CO2 in OBRI and Europe and increases in East and Southeast Asia and MENA. While green technology also enhances environmental sustainability in OBRI. Based on the findings, environmental policies can be revised for OBRI economies.

    With globalization, asymmetric information among international students' academic performance and qualifications, lack information transparency, bloated management bodies, high verification costs, and difficulties in fraud risk management are currently limiting the advancement of internationalization and standardization. These risks and problems also raise questions about the development of IT systems in the education administration and industry as well. Thus, by combining the study of international students' study results and academic records, we design a blockchain-based study transcript and academic information system concept and architecture with the use of blockchain technology. The result helps to develop business models and authentication features in related fields, set up a rigorous environment, optimize existing processes and rules, and lay a technical and data foundation for the development of international students' study transcripts and academic authentication.

    Shield tunneling technologies have been developed for constructing tunnels in soft ground especially under groundwater. Recently, challenging projects from the viewpoint of tunneling technology have been planned. To realize these constructions, it is necessary to examine the shield operation method preliminarily. The authors have developed a method to carry out the above examination and have confirmed its validity for a tunnel in stiff ground. In this research, to examine the performance of the proposed method for soft ground tunnel, the simulation on shield behavior was carried out using the estimated shield operational data for a tunnel in soft ground. As a result, the following were found: the shield steering conditions by the proposed method are not enough to rotate the shield along a sharp curve in case of soft soil; and the simulation results have a good agreement with the planned alignment using proper shield operational data.
