Item type:Publication, A Novel Robust Adaptive Control for PMDC Servo Motor Incorporating Recursive Least Square and Particle Swarm Optimization(2023-01-01) ;Yanyong, SaruchaKaitwanidvilai, SomyotPosition control is a crucial control system used extensively in various industrial applications. In many of these applications, system parameters, such as the mass of an object can change unpredictably. Non-adaptive position control proves inadequate in successfully managing these fluctuations. Thus, an online adaptive control system plays a vital role in maintaining high performance despite changing parameters. This paper proposes a novel online adaptive fixed-structure robust controller for a PMDC (Permanent Magnet Direct Current) servo motor. This controller employs Recursive Least-square and Particle Swarm Optimization techniques to form the adaptive system. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed technique and its potential application. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design of optimal robust PI controller for electro-hydraulic servo system(2011-08-24) ;Olranthichachat, PiyapongKaitwanidvilai, SomyotThis paper proposes a new technique to design an optimal robust PI-controller for electro-hydraulic servo system to achieve both the robustness and performance. Comparative study between the conventional robust control and the proposed technique is included in the paper. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is adopted to simplify the solving of structured robust control problem to realize the practical robust controller. Simulation results show that the proposed controller has simpler structure than that of the conventional robust loop shaping controller, and the stability margin obtained indicates the robustness of the proposed controller. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Robust loop shaping control for designing high performance ACMC DC-DC converter(2010-12-01) ;Kaitwanidvilai, SomyotOlranthichachat, PiyapongDC-DC converter is an important circuit in Micro-grid system. To design a high performance and robust controller for this circuit, H infinity loop shaping gains increasing attention in the controller design. Being complex and high-order, robust controllers designed by H<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping are difficult to implement in practice. To overcome this problem, an algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based fixed-structure H<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping control, has been proposed to design a robust controller. PSO algorithm is used to solve the H<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping design problem under a structure-specified controller. Additionally, in the proposed technique, the performance weighting function, which is normally difficult to obtain, is determined by the PSO. Simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed technique. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Particle Swarm Optimization based fixed-structure H∞ loop shaping control of MIMO system(2008-12-01)Kaitwanidvilai, SomyotH<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping is a sensible method for designing a robust controller; however, the controller designed by conventional H <inf>∞</inf> loop shaping is complicated with a high order. It is not easy to implement this controller in practice. To overcome this problem, in this paper, a new design technique of a fixed-structure robust controller for MIMO system is proposed. The performance and robust stability conditions of the designed system satisfying the H<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping are formulated as the objective function in the optimization problem. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method is adopted to solve this problem and to achieve the control parameters of the proposed controller. The performance and robustness of the designed controllers, centralized and decentralized PID controllers, are investigated in a MIMO system (a chemical process) in comparison with the conventional H<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping control. Simulation results show that the robustness and performance of the proposed centralized controller are almost identical to those of the controller designed by H<inf>∞</inf> loop shaping method. However, because of the complicated controller in the conventional design, the proposed approach offers a significant improvement in practical control viewpoints by simplifying the controller structure, reducing the controller order and still retaining the robust performance. Simulation results also demonstrate that the proposed approach is numerically efficient and leads to performance comparable to that of previously published methods.
