    Navigating online learning challenges and educational infrastructure in times of crisis: Insights and solutions among Thai engineering students utilizing a mixed-methods analysis

    The rapid shift to online learning during COVID-19 posed challenges for students. This investigation explored these hurdles and suggested effective solutions using mixed methods. By combining a literature review, interviews, surveys, and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the study identified five key challenges: lack of practical experience, disruptions in learning environments, condensed assessments, technology and financial constraints, and health and mental well-being concerns. Notably, it found differences in priorities among students across academic years. Freshmen struggled with the absence of hands-on courses, sophomores with workload demands, and upperclassmen with mental health challenges. The research also discussed preferred strategies for resolution, emphasizing independent learning methods, managing distractions, and adjusting assessments. By providing tailored insights, this study aimed to enhance online learning. Governments and universities should support practical work, prioritize student well-being, improve digital infrastructure, adapt assessments, foster innovation, and ensure resilience.

    Experimental Study of Sugarcane Bagasse Ash as Partial Replacement of Cement Based on SEM and XRF Analysis

    This research aims to identify chemical composition and it’s leaching from concrete mixed with sugarcane bagasse ash. By manipulating percent of slump flow at 110±5%, sugarcane bagasse ash was employed as a pozzolanic material to partially replace cement at 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 percent by weight of binder in concrete. Cube specimens were cast and cured in water for 3, 7, 14 and, 28 days, respectively. The patterns of sugarcane bagasse ash morphology were performed by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to analyze physicochemical characteristics. Results of tests on the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis from the ash and curing water at various times revealed that SiO<inf>2</inf> made up half of the components in sugarcane bagasse ash. Al<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, CaO, Fe<inf>2</inf>O<inf>3</inf>, K<inf>2</inf>O, P<inf>2</inf>O<inf>5</inf>, and MgO were the minor components. The calcium content from the 14-day period at 50% by weight of the sugarcane bagasse ash binder was higher than that of the other elements, according to the results of curing water. According to the results of 28-day water curing, potassium outnumbered all other elements in the replacement of sugarcane bagasse ash in every ratio.

    Optimization-Based Train Timetables Generation with Demand Forecasting for Thailand High Speed Rail System

    In this paper, we propose a timetable optimizer (TO) consisting of the following parts: 1) Demand Forecasting Module 2) Train Optimization Module 3) Timetable Generator Module. TO is a specialized system for planning the train timetable which designed to help solve the problem of determining the number of trains that are suitable and scheduling the train suitably according to the number of trains designated by the system. TO integrates the passenger data from the latest round trip or historical information and forecasts a number of passengers of high-speed trains based on historical data in order to find the optimal number of trains by using a mixed integer programing model. Lastly, the TO system can applies the number of trains to calculate the appropriate train schedule so that the planning cycle is complete. A case study of high-speed railway system in Thailand with 36 trains to satisfy demand of 35,000 passengers/ each direction is conducted. The results show that the proposed system can quickly generate a timetable having an optimal number of train with suitable time interval according to a demand forecasting.

    A Study on High-Speed Rail Pricing Strategy for Thailand Based on Dynamic Optimal Pricing Model

    The Bangkok–Nong Khai high-speed railway is the first high-speed line in Thailand and is currently under construction. The project is due to be completed by 2023, with ticket prices starting at 80 baht plus 1.8 baht per km which can be considered as a straight-line fare set with a fixed rate increase. Different from the current price policy, this paper examines the application of dynamic pricing to Thailand’s HSR. Dynamic Pricing Optimizer proposed in this paper is a unique system of dynamic pricing by considering the changes in the amount of service requirements and the time of purchasing tickets designed to solve the problem of pricing that is appropriate. First, The Dynamic Pricing Optimizer (DPO) system will integrate the user data from the latest trip or historical information. After that, there will be a forecast for users of high-speed trains based on historical data in order to create a demand function that is linear. After that, the price will be determined by the optimization method to find the most suitable price in order to maximize the revenue. Lastly, we compare both fare policies and found that The Dynamic Pricing policy can increase revenue up to 6.5%.

    Effect of drying air condition and feed composition on the properties of orange juice spray dried powder

    This research aims to investigate the effect of inlet air humidity, drying temperature and feed composition on the properties of orange juice spray dried powder. Maltodextrin (DE10-12) was used as carrier material. Full factorial design was applied to this research. Inlet air with humidity of 10 g/kg dry air and 20 g/kg dry air, inlet drying air temperature of 140°C 160°C and 180°C and feed concentration of 40°Brix which varied the weight ratio of orange juice solid content to maltodextrin of 1:3 and 1:4.5 were examined. All spray drying conditions were performed in replicate. Ascorbic acid, moisture content water activity, pH and product yield were analysed. Analysis of variance revealed that humidity of inlet air influenced significantly on product yield, moisture content, water activity. Besides, the quality of product in term of ascorbic acid content was affected significantly by drying temperature and fraction of maltodextrin. Higher drying temperatures lead to lesser of ascorbic acid content and the more fraction of maltodextrin used in feed, the more ascorbic acid content retained in product.
