Item type:Publication, Characteristic requirements of a small scale squirrel cage induction generator for effective electricity generation from wind energy(2013-01-01) ;Kinnares, V.Sawetsakulanond, B.This paper proposes characteristic requirements of a small scale squirrel cage induction generator for effective electricity generation from wind energy. These characteristics are obtained from modeling and testing results. Investigation into comparative performances between Standard and high efficiency induction generators is given in order to find out the characteristic requirements of a suitable induction generator. Performances of various features of the machine structure are given. The suitable design of the induction generator based on empirical rules is also included. The investigation of power loss of the induction machine both in theory using FEM (Finite Element Method) and tests has been made. In addition, static var (Volt-Ampere reactive power) compensator using power electronic control to keep terminal voltage of a self-excited induction generator constant is explained. These results can be guidelines for machine development and control method for effective electricity generation. © 2013 The Authors. Item type:Publication, Design, analysis, and construction of a small scale self-excited induction generator for a wind energy application(2010-01-01) ;Sawetsakulanond, B.Kinnares, V.This paper proposes the design, analysis, and construction of a three phase, 0.75 kW, 220/380 V, 3.4/2.0 A, Δ/. Y connected, 4 poles, SEIG (self-excited induction generator) based on empirical rules. The designed SEIG offers improved high efficiency and power quality. The design takes into consideration a skew effect and power quality. A 2D-FEA (2 dimension finite element analysis) is used to consider core loss, flux density and circuit parameters of the designed SEIG. The designed SEIG has been tested and compared with a standard SEIG under various operating conditions in terms of efficiency and power quality. Consideration of capacitance for the SEIG based on steady-state equivalent circuit model and a power flow diagram is also given. Research results can be guidelines and recommendations for development of small wind induction generators for effective electricity generation. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Investigation on the performance between standard and high efficiency induction machines operating as self-excited induction generators feeding the non-linear loads(2008-12-01) ;Sawetsakulanond, B.Kinnares, V.This paper proposes the investigation on the performance between standard and high efficiency induction machines operating as SEIG feeding the nonlinear loads having same rating of 3 phase, 2.2 kW, 220/380 V, 4 poles. Consideration of capacitance for the SEIG based on equivalent circuit model under steady-state load conditions and a power flow diagram is given. The interpretation of experimental results can be guidelines for effective design and development of SEIG with DC supply for wind energy applications. © 2008 IEEE.
