Item type:Publication, Fully differential fifth-order dual-notch low-pass filter for portable EEG system(2022-03-01) ;Kumngern, Montree ;Khateb, Fabian ;Kulej, Tomasz ;Arbet, DanielAkbari, MeysamThis paper presents a new fully differential fifth-order dual-notch low-pass filter based on multiple-input multiple-output operational transconductance amplifiers (MIMO OTA). This work shows that MIMO OTA-based fifth-order dual-notch filter can reduce the number of used OTAs, resulting in simplified realization and low-power consumption. The multiple-input OTA is obtained by using the multiple-input dynamic threshold MOS (DTMOS) technique without additional differential pairs. A simple common-mode feedback technique has been used; thus, fully differential OTA can be easily obtained. The proposed dual-notch low-pass filter can be applied to electroencephalogram (EEG) detection system to reject the 50 Hz powerline interference and the third harmonic 150 Hz. The proposed filter has been simulated using Cadence environment with 0.18 µm TSMC CMOS process. The power supply of 0.5 V is used and the total power consumption of the MIMO OTA is 17.5 nW. The proposed filter provides 49.7 dB dynamic range for 1% total harmonic distortion (THD) for a sine input signal of 250 mV<inf>pp</inf> at 10 Hz. At 50 Hz and 150 Hz the notch depths of attenuation are respectively −37.2 dB and −47.4 dB. The pre-layout simulation results are in good agreement with the theory. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Programmable Universal Filter and Quadrature Oscillator Using Single Output Operational Transconductance Amplifiers(2021-01-01) ;Knobnob, Boonying ;Torteanchai, UsaKumngern, MontreeThis paper presents a new programmable universal filter and quadrature oscillator based on the single output operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). The proposed universal filter and quadrature oscillator can be achieved into single topology by programming analog switches. When the circuit performs as a universal filter, it can realize low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-stop and all-pass filters with orthogonal and electronic controls of the natural frequency and quality factor. When the circuit performs as a quadrature oscillator, it provides a three-phase quadrature output signal which the condition and frequency of oscillations can be controlled orthogonally and electronically. The proposed structure can be realized based on the single output OTAs which are easily implemented as both commercially available integrated circuits (ICs) as OTAs and complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) OTAs as IC forms. SPICE simulation using standard 0.18 µm CMOS process is used for investigating the performance of the proposed circuit whereas the workability of new circuit is confirmed by LM13600 discrete-component integrated circuits as OTAs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Versatile electronically tunable voltage-mode filter based on simple CMOS OTAs(2017-12-01) ;Torteanchai, Usa ;Yutthanaboon, Sathian ;Sarsitthithum, KanokKumngern, MontreeIn this paper, a new versatile electronically controllable voltage-mode biquadratic filter with four inputs and three outputs based on simple CMOS operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) is presented. By appropriately selecting the input and output terminals, the proposed filter can work as either a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) or a multiple-input single-output (MISO) biquadratic filter without changing the circuit topology. When it is a function of SIMO filter, the circuit provides band-pass (BP), low-pass (LP) and band-stop (BS) voltage responses and using grounded capacitors. The all-pass (AP) and high-pass (HP) voltage responses can be obtained using addition and subtraction circuits. Continually, when it is a function of MISO filter, the circuit can realize five standard non-inverting and inverting filtering functions such as LP, BP, HP, BS and AP filters. Both the circuit functions offer an electronic control of the natural frequency through adjusting the bias currents of OTAs. The filters are absent from active and passive component-matching condition and invertingtype input signal requirements for realizing all filtering responses. The passive and active sensitivities are low. The performances of the proposed filter can be confirmed by PSPICE simulation results. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Mixed-mode universal filter using OTAs(2012-01-01) ;Kumngern, MontreeJunnapiya, SomyotThis paper presents an electronically tunable versatile biquadratic filter. Unlike the typical voltage-mode and current-mode filter, the proposed filter can realize voltage-mode, current-mode, transconductance-mode and transresistance-mode transfer functions without changing the circuit topology, called a mixedmode filter. The proposed structure employs six operational transconductance amplifiers, two grounded capacitors and one external resistor that provides following advantages: realization of low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, band-stop and all-pass filter responses; orthogonal control of the natural frequency and the quality factor; employment of grounded capacitors which is more suitable for integrated circuit implementation; low active and passive sensitivities. Simulation results are also given to confirm the presented theory. © 2012 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Voltage-mode OTA-C multifunction biquadratic filter with four inputs and four outputs(2012-01-01)Kumngern, MontreeThis paper presents an electronically tunable versatile multifunction voltage-mode biquadratic filter with four inputs and four outputs employing six single-ended operational transconductance amplifiers and two grounded capacitors, which is very suitable for integrated circuit implementation. The proposed circuit can simultaneously realize low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, band-stop and all-pass voltage responses, without inverting-type input signal and component-matching condition requirements. The natural frequency and the quality factor can be orthogonally controlled. The active and passive sensitivities are low.
