Item type:Publication, The comparison of two U-shaped lines with an individual variance on some tasks(2017-12-13) ;Varnasilpin, S.Masuchun, R.U-shaped Line (UL) utilizes many manufacturing industries. It applies the just-in-time principle, the lean manufacture, and the quality improvement. It reduces the waste in the manufacturing operation. This paper presents two UL models which consist of eight certain tasks and three uncertain tasks. Two UL models include UL No.1 and UL No.2. The uncertain tasks assume the time distribution that is discrete. The uncertain task time of UL No.1 classifies to three types. The uncertain task time of UL No.2 classifies to five types. The objective function of two UL models is the minimum workstations. Two UL models formulate on a zero-one integer linear programming. This academic work applies MATLAB R2014a which solves the solution of two models. The procedure is run by INTLINPROG toolbox. The solution of the uncertain tasks for UL No.1 is the optimistic time. The solution of the uncertain tasks for UL No.2 is the most optimistic time. The number of workstations of UL No.2 is less than the number of workstations of UL No.1. The most early finish tasks which assign along the UL line affect the minimum workstations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Applied Artificial Bee colony algorithm for multiple capacitated vehicle routing problem: Case study of the plastic packaging industry(2017-11-03) ;Mingprasert, S.Masuchun, R.The aim of this research is to investigate the transportation problem of a plastic packaging industry case study because at present, competition within the plastic packaging business requires good services and on time delivery. Therefore, customer complaints and delayed deliveries are major problems for this industry group and that is why it is required to create more reliability and satisfaction for customers. Nowadays, this industry engages a transport supplier for goods delivery but it still has high transportation cost problems due to vehicle routing management. Artificial Bee colony algorithm is applied to overcome this issue. This algorithm is verified by using Vehicle Routing Problem benchmark (VRP) in terms of minimized total traveling distance. Then, for presenting high efficiency, this algorithm was validated for good performance compared with other algorithms. After algorithm validation, Artificial Bee colony algorithm is employed to solve the vehicle routing problem that has various vehicle capacities in the plastic packaging industry case study. The experimental results show that the purposed algorithm can be used to tackle the transportation problem in terms of minimizing total traveling distance and transportation costs, and also enhancing quality service levels and vehicle utilization for the multi-capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, U-shaped line balancing model with an uncertain time on all tasks(2017-06-05) ;Varnasilpin, S.Masuchun, R.U-shaped Assembly Line (UAL) utilizes many manufacturing industries. It applies the just-in-time principle and the quality practice. It decreases the waste in the manufacturing operation. This paper presents the UAL model which consists of eleven uncertain tasks. The uncertain tasks assume the time distribution that is discrete. The uncertain task time classifies to three types such as the optimistic time, the normal time, and the pessimistic time. The objective function of the model is the minimum number of workstations. The model formulates on a 0-1 integer linear programming. This academic work applies MATLAB R2014a which solves the solution of the model. The procedure is run by INTLINPROG toolbox. The solution of the uncertain task is the optimistic time that is the earliest finish duration. The earliest finish tasks which assign along the UAL line affect the minimum workstations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Adaptive artificial bee colony algorithm for solving the capacitated vehicle routing problem(2017-03-23) ;Mingprasert, S.Masuchun, R.This research provides an adaptive artificial bee colony algorithm (AABC) to handle the goods transportation routing problem based on available capacity of vehicles well-known as Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP). The proposed algorithm is developed from the traditional artificial bee colony algorithm to approve a good performance and quality solution. This algorithm was verified through VRP Benchmark problems by comparing the results with existing Best Known Solutions (BKS) of the Capacitated VRP benchmark. The experimental results found that AABC can nearly confirm the good performances as compared with benchmark problem of Augerat et al. that can success the short running time and receive average nearest values. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Reducing schedule nervousness in production and operations under non-stationary stochastic demand: The case of an airline catering company(2016-12-27) ;Hasachoo, N.Masuchun, R.Schedule nervousness is a change in planned MPS that caused actual operations to be different and that will result in a disruption in the production and distribution system. Uncertainty in demand was proved to be one of its major causes. The airline catering industry is one of the most highly nervousness-sensitive industries since their future demand is not deterministic but rather considered as a random variable or referred to as non-stationary stochastic demand. This is because the exact order quantity depends on the passenger numbers which are only confirmed minutes prior to departure time. So the objectives of this paper are to compare effectiveness of the current planning policy for reducing an uncertainty in demand of the case study company with a well-known MILP for solving stochastic lot-sizing problem, Tarim and Kingsman's MILP. An obtained solution from both compare its probability of causing a negative closing inventory. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Improving suspension manufacturing yield using polynomial regression(2004-01-01) ;Ritthidetch, T. ;Masuchun, R. ;Chaikla, A. ;Julsereewong, P.Tirasesth, K.This paper proposes the technique to adjust the roll and pitch directions of the flex suspension assembly in a disk drive production. The adjustment is accomplished using a number of laser beam projections, which can be approximated using the polynomial regression model of the existing measured roll and pitch directions. Information derived from the analysis can help improve manufacturing yield. The performances of the proposed technique were observed using the flex suspension assembly plant in Thailand as an illustrative case study. The experimental results are given to support the improving manufacturing yields and some economic benefits of the proposed technique. © 2004 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
