Item type:Publication, Photocatalytic properties and plastic degradation of TiO2 nanocomposite with synthetic-rutile from natural ore(2018-01-01) ;Mekprasart, Wanichaya ;Thongpradith, Titarat ;Pecharapa, WisanuIshihara, Keiichi N.Titanium dioxide (TiO<inf>2</inf>) is considered a main material in energy and environment fields. This work focused on the production of synthetic rutile-TiO<inf>2</inf> (LA) material from natural ore by milling-ultra sonic assisted in acid treatment. Modified-TiO<inf>2</inf> nanocomposite of synthetic rutile and anatase nanopowder was synthesized by high energy milling process. After milling process, the average sizes of samples were decreased at 30% as calculated from XRD peaks. The band gap value of samples analyzed by UV-Vis spectrometer showed that the decrease of the band gap in LA composite at 3.34 eV might be associated with the presence of rutile phase in anatase matrix relating to the highest photocatalytic activity under visible light illumination. Polyethylene plastic was supplemented with different LA nanocomposite loading by thermal attachment process. Photocatalyst property of LA nanocomposite was investigated photocatalytic activity under Xe lamp illumination and investigated by FTIR and XRD technique. The optimized content of LA nanocomposite was performed at 2 wt.% in PE film. FTIR patterns did not detect the difference of plastic degradation. However, the significant change in PE crystalline monitored by XRD technique confirmed the decrease of crystallite size by peak shifted position and size decreasing at 10% by photocatalyst effect. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Hydrophilic and photocatalytic properties of dip-coated synthetic rutile-based thin films derived from minerals ores(2018-01-01) ;Kansa-Ard, Thanaphon ;Yimwan, Wadweaw ;Poohinkong, Weerachon ;Mekprasart, WanichayaSanguanpak, SamunyaThis article focuses on the investigation of hydrophilic property and photocatalytic activity of synthetic rutile-based thin films prepared by conventional dip coating method. The synthetic rutile was prepared by chloride leaching process for purification of synthetic rutile from mineral ores and was coated on glass substrate with binder for several times to reach designated thickness. UV-Visible spectroscopy technique was employed to study relevant optical properties meanwhile the crystalline structure of synthetic rutile-based thin films was characterized by X-ray diffraction. Surface morphologies of the coated films were monitored by scanning electron microscope while hydrophilic property was observed by contact angle measurement. Photocytalytic activity was evaluated by mean of the degradation of organic dye Rhonamine B under ultraviolet light and visible light. The improvement of photocatalytic efficiency was obtained by synthetic rutile-based thin film under visible irradiation compared with reference film without leached phtocatalyst. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Photocatalytic performance of ball-milled anatase/rutile mixed phase TiO2 composite powders(2016-01-01) ;Phoohinkong, Weerachon ;Mekprasart, WanichayaPecharapa, WisanuMixed-phase anatase/rutile titanium dioxide (TiO<inf>2</inf>) composite powder is an important material due to the unique properties of photocatalytic activity, which the photocatalytic efficiency of mixed-phase is higher than the only single anatase or rutile phase. In this study, the anatase/rutile mixed phase TiO<inf>2</inf> composite powders were prepared by ball milling of TiO<inf>2</inf> commercial grade powders. Effect of the anatase/rutile phase ratio on photocatalytic performance was investigated. The sample phase ratio is evaluated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) meanwhile the composite morphology is characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The overall results revealed that the mixed-phase anatase/rutile provided significant enhancement in photocatalytic performance compared with only anatase or rutile single phase. In addition, this ballmilling technique is considered an effective process, cost-effectively on energy saving, and suitable for preparing anatase/rutile TiO<inf>2</inf> mixed-phase for photocatalytic application. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of calcinations temperature on structural properties, phase transformation and photocatalytic activity of electrospun TiO2 nanofibers(2013-10-29) ;Suphankij, Sineenart ;Mekprasart, WanichayaPecharapa, WisanuTiO<inf>2</inf> nanofibers were fabricated via an electrospinning method. Titanium (IV) isopropoxide (TIP) and poly (viny pyrrolidone) (PVP) were used as a starting precursor. The electrospun TiO<inf>2</inf> nanofibers were obtained by injecting the precursor through a needle under a strong electrical field. As-spun fibers were calcined at 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 °C for 2 h. The structural of properties of the nanofibers were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM). XRD results indicated that the crystallinity of TiO<inf>2</inf> nanofibers corresponds to rutile and anatase phase of TiO<inf>2</inf> depending on calcinations temperature. SEM results indicated that the surface morphology and size TiO<inf>2</inf> nanofibers. The photocatalytic degradation of RhB may be attributed to significant absorption enhancement in visible region by phase transformation of TiO<inf>2</inf> nanofibers and fiber size dependence active surface areas. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
