The temperature sensor using all-pass microrin resonator (APMRR) investigated theoretically and analyzed. An optical bright soliton is used as a probe to study the effect of applied temperature on the light behavior pass through microring waveguide. The split-step Fourier method is used to study the pulse propagation inside the APMRR. Result shows that the rise of temperature on peak amplitude ratio fit with quadratic line in temperature range of 27 oC-37 oC. . The temperature at 30 oC generate higher slope of reduction compare to temperature at 36oC. The amplitude ratio is reduced into 0.6 (-4.4370 dB) when the temperature increased as small as 1 oC. The operating range for all-pass resonator is 97 oC with amplitude reduction of -8.3975 dB.

A micro resonating sensor is proposed for simultaneous measurement of temperature and carrier density using modified Add-drop resonator called PANDA resonator from silicon-on-insulator (SOI) material waveguide. The proposed sensor works by observing the concentration of free-carrier in silicon around room temperature yielding the sensitivity of 1×1023 m-3 C-1 with limit of detection of 10-5 C. It is found that the output intensity decreases due to the photon and thermal absorptions. It is found that the performance of the PANDA sensor is affected by the power at the first coupling region and increase in propagating lengths of PANDA sensor causes a nonlinear effect in carrier density production.

The effect of temperature on double ring resonator (DRR) glucose sensing is investigate theoretically and proposed. Different from other optical resonator, the pulse laser is used as an input source and the vertical DRR configuration is used. The concept for pulse propagation is based on the split-step Fourier method. Result shows that the detection of glucose is measured by optical losses and the losses at 26°C are 1.86 dB at through and 0.93 dB at drop port, respectively. The performance of glucose sensing on DRR is degraded by temperature. Effect of temperature creates more losses which results total loss of 2.01 dB at through and 1 dB at drop port when temperature increase by 1°C.

The novel twisted ring resonator called add-drop Mobius microring resonator is introduced and modelled with the analytical solution of transfer matrix methods for the generation of optical bistability. Simulated results show that, the add-drop Mobius configuration provides greater phase shift due to the longer length of propagation per roundtrip than add-drop filter configuration. In add-drop Mobius system, drop port generated the optical bistable hysteresis loop with 19.25 mW output switching power and through port generated lower switching power as 5.55 mW. The drop port of the system is found as the suitable port for the operating the all-optical hysteresis switching.

The split-step Fourier technique is used to study the effect of temperature in triple stage microring resonating sensor (TSMRRS). The optical bright soliton beam is used as the probe pulse into the TSMRRS and the effect of temperature variations on various concentrations of glucose in deionize water is investigated. The detection of glucose is measured by intensity variations of output signals from through and drop ports of TSMRRS. The temperature variations cause an exact intensity reduction of glucose concentration in deionize water when the temperature increased by 1 °C. The performance of TSMRRS glucose sensor is improved for temperature range similar with standard room temperature which shows that TSMRRS is suitable candidate for chemical sensing application.

A novel design of molecular buffer for molecule storage and delivery using a PANDA ring resonator is proposed. The optical vortices can be generated and controlled to form the trapping tools in the same way as the optical tweezers. In theory, the trapping force is formed by the combination between the gradient field and scattering photons, which is reviewed. By using the intense optical vortices generated within the PANDA ring resonator, the required molecules can be trapped and moved (transported) dynamically within the wavelength router or network, in which the molecular buffer can be performed within the wavelength router before reaching the required destination. The advantage of the proposed system is that a transmitter and receiver can be formed within the same system, which is available for molecule storage and transportation.
