Rain attenuation is a major factor to degrade the system performance in a frequency above 10 GHz. This paper presents a statistical analysis of the rainfall rate and the rain attenuation data on satellite to ground propagation path. By measuring 12.7-GHz beacon signal attenuation from JCSAT satellite and the rainfall rate continuously. Yearly cumulative distribution functions were then compared to predicted models. The Crane Global model for the rain zone H provides overestimated predicted values to the measured ones. For the rain zone G, the Crane Global model provides close values to ITU-R model; both are smaller than the measured ones. © 2005 IEEE.

The paper studies effect of quasi-periodic or airplane flutter pheiiomcnon on television broadcasting. Airplane flutter is a very important problem. It causes the receiving antenna to receive both direct signal by the Tx (Transmitter antenna) and reflected signa1 scattered by the airplane with phase delay. The sum of two signals results in fading, sometime coilapse and distortion of picture on TV screen. W e performed measurement and modeling this phenomenon on TV signal when the airplane flew across and the range Tx and Rx (Receiver antenna). The frequency 60.75MHz (Aural frequency of CH3) is used under tests. A single scatter multipath model is introduced. It is used to duplicate some of the measured data and show the dependence of power variation on the airplane fluttering. Tlie fluctuation of the airplane flutter phenomenon was calculated to be around 2-4dB.

This paper examines the method for converting among scintillation expression methods, peak to peak values method and standard deviation values method, by using local measurement of meteorological parameters. Part I focus on tropospheric scintillation related to 12.260 GHz measurements at an elevation angle of 59.9°. Part II focus on ionospheric scintillation describes 3.916 GHz, observations made on three years periods at KMITL, Bangkok, Thailand. The principle techniques finding the good correlation coefficient ranging from 0.900 to 0.999. As a result extremely the relationship between two methods is given by σ<inf>x</inf>=α(p-p) + β, where α is 0.14.
