This paper presents the design and optimization of a circularly polarized UHF RFID reader antenna. The initial radiator dimensions were set at 130 mm × 130 mm, and the feed position was fine-tuned, with simulations identifying x, y = 24.5, 24.5 mm as the optimal location for impedance matching. Further optimization focused on reducing the ground plane size, with a 170 mm × 170 mm ground plane providing the optimal balance, ensuring an axial ratio below 3 dB and stable |S| (dB) response across the 920-925 MHz frequency band. The final design demonstrated an improved radiation pattern and sufficient gain, making it an effective solution for UHF RFID reader applications.

In this research, a wideband bi-directional pattern antenna implemented by a circular monopole encircled with an en-forced-radiation circular ring incorporated with inversed L-shaped stub is designed to operate over the mid-band of 5G applications ranging from 2 to 6 GHz. It is contrived of a copper overlaid on FR4 substrate with relative permittivity of 4.3 and height of 1.6 mm. This proposed antenna is fed by a 50-ohm coplanar waveguide, which is printed on the same side of the radiated circular monopole. To further enrich the impedance matching, a pair of etched slots is added-on the ground plane near the fed line to reduce the return loss. In the study, the initial parameters are theoretically worked out, and then simulation is then performed by using an electromag-netic solutions tool to numerically discover the set of solution parameters. From the simulation results, this proposed antenna offers the |S<inf>11</inf>| < –10 dB covered the operating frequency running from 1.79 to over 8 GHz with fractional bandwidth 126.90 % and 1.74 to 7.07 GHz with fractional bandwidth 101.04 % for the simulation excluded and included SMA, respectively. It provides a linear polarization with total efficiency better than 81.5 %. After that, an antenna prototype with compact dimensions of 45×45×0.6 mm3 was fabricated and testified to validate the simulation results. The measurement results provide a stability bi-directional pattern with peak gain of 5.54 dBi covering a 10 dB return loss bandwidth of 118.5 % (1.93–7.54 GHz). Simulated |S<inf>11</inf>|, 2D radiation pattern and gain are reasonably in good agreement with experimental results. Furthermore, this proposed antenna is compared with the current compact, wideband and 5G antenna to indicate its prospective for the interested bands.

In this paper, an E-plane choke waveguide aperture antenna is designed for front-fed parabolic reflector. The aperture antenna consists of the radiating rectangular waveguide vertically jointed to the two coupling apertures or the E-plane choke to achieve the symmetrical beam for the X-band frequency operating from 10.00 GHz to 10.50 GHz. The simulated beamwidths in the E and H planes at -3 dB were equally 70° and at -10 dB also equally 137°, while the measured results at -3 dB were equally 70° and at -10 dB equally 135°. The simulation and measured results are in good agreement. The simulated and measured antenna gains are 8.24 dBi and 8.21 dBi respectively. The simulation and measured of waveguide aperture for parabolic front-fed reflector antenna results covering frequency range from 9.91 GHz to 10.61 GHz and 9.98 GHz to 10.51 GHz, respectively. The findings validate the applicability of the antenna as the prime feed for rotationally symmetric parabolic reflectors.

This research presents a triple-aperture waveguide antenna as the primary feed of parabolic reflectors. The proposed antenna is able to rectify the asymmetry and also achieve a symmetrical unidirectional beam through the application of two parasitic coupling apertures. The design of the antenna is that of a rectangular waveguide (radiating aperture) vertically jointed to the two coupling apertures of the same measurement widthwise (i.e., one stacked on top and the other underneath) to achieve the symmetrical beam. The rectangular waveguide is 97.60 mm and 46.80 mm in width (a) and height (b), respectively, to propagate the WLAN frequency band of 2.412-2.484 GHz. Simulations were carried out to determine the optimal antenna parameters and an antenna prototype was subsequently fabricated and tested. The simulated beamwidths in the E - and H -planes at - 3 dB were equally 67° (i.e., 67° for both the E - and H -planes) and at - 10 dB also equally 137°, while the measured results at - 3 dB were equally 65° and at - 10 dB equally 135°. The simulation and measured results are thus in good agreement. The simulated and measured antenna gains are, respectively, 8.25 dBi and 9.17 dBi. The findings validate the applicability of the antenna as the prime feed for rotationally symmetric parabolic reflectors.

The new configuration of the RFID tag antenna is presented in this paper. It consists of meander-line with arc structure and T-matching technique to accomplish the very small tag antenna for an operation of the frequency band 920-925 MHz, corresponding to the standard of UHF RFID in Thailand. The electrical size of the proposed tag antenna is approximately 0.025λ <inf>0</inf> 0.24λ <inf>0</inf> or 0.8 mm × 79 mm, and it is designed by using NXP G2XL IC chip with the impedance of 21.29-j191.7 ω at the frequency of 922.5 MHz. The proposed tag antenna obtains the omnidirectional pattern with 0.91 dBi gain. It is fabricated on FR 4 with the thickness of 0.25 mm. The maximum read range is 8 m, which was measured by 4 W EIRP reader. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper presents a unidirectional antenna using a hemispherical monopole with circular reflector for dual-band wireless communication applications. It consists of a hemispherical monopole with a sheet of stub. The stub is placed over a hemispherical monopole for low frequency band operation. The radiation patterns are controlled by circular reflector together with circular ring and rectangular ring. At 2.4 GHz, the antenna radiates by a sheet of stub and a hemispherical monopole with rectangular ring. At 5.8 GHz, it radiates by a hemispherical monopole with circular ring. The proposed antenna is designed to operate between 2.4-2.5 GHz and 5.15-5.85 GHz with S11 < 10 dB. The antenna has high gain and the radiation pattern at both bands are unidirectional beam. The simulated and measured results are presented. © 2011 IEEE.
