Item type:Publication, Development of redundant bus library for arduino to apply in SCADA system(2014-12-16) ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Numsomran, A. ;Samaimak, S.Harnnarong, ShIn this paper, we developed the library for the microcontroller platform Arduino to apply in Modbus SCADA systems. This library allows Arduino board to communicate with RS-485 and use Modbus protocol which transmits data via a redundant bus. Experiments are conducted to compare the stability of data communication between a regular bus and a redundant bus which is the developed library. The results show the developed library Arduino board is able to communicate with redundant buses and more resistant to faults than conventional buses. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Software developments for modbus SCADA to extend distance to 2x for controlled devices(2013-12-01) ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Numsomran, A. ;Samaimak, S.Harnnarong, ShModbus protocol is a protocol that is widely used in SCADA systems. Because it is an open standard protocol. It can be programmed for communications in embedded devices easily. When using the Modbus protocol on RS-485 bus systems, the communication distance is limited to 1.2 km; typically a repeater is used to boost the signal to further the distance. This paper presents an OPC Server and Firmware update to increase the working distance of the control devices. The update is also compatible with existing standard devices as well. © 2013 IEEE.
