In this study, a design of high gain reflector antenna for point to point communications is reported. A probe-fed waveguide aperture with four-stacked-coupling aperture is employed to be a primary illuminated parabolic reflector antenna. By varying distance between the primary and secondary antennas, its gain can be raised. An EM simulator has been used in the process. It is found that this proposed antenna provides an excellent symmetrical sharp beam with a low side lobe level as well as low cross-polarization. In addition, this proposed antenna produces a high gain of 26.9 dBi with S<inf>11</inf> < -15 dB from 0.88f<inf>c</inf> to 1.06f<inf>c</inf>. All simulation results are reported and discussed in the paper.

This paper presents a design and measurement of symmetric bidirectional pattern antenna implemented by using a probe-fed open-ended rectangular waveguide (OERW) vertically attached with four-stacked-coupling-aperture (FSCA). For the OERW without FSCA, it provides asymmetric beam in forwards and backwards directions. With the effect of FSCA, that asymmetry is amended to be symmetry, and propagates the WLAN frequency band of 2.4–2.5 GHz with the return loss better than 10 dB, and maximum gain of 7.04 dBi. A prototype antenna was fabricated and measured. Obviously, the preliminary measured results are very reassuring, and reasonably in good agreement with simulation results.

This paper presents a design of symmetrically unidirectional beam antenna implemented by a probe-feed open waveguide with two-stacked-coupling aperture as a primary feed for parabolic reflector. This proposed antenna is able to rectify the asymmetry bi-directional beam and also achieves a symmetrically uni-directional beam through the influence of two-stacked-coupling aperture. The antenna geometry is composed of a radiating rectangular waveguide vertically jointed to the two open-end waveguides of an identical widthwise (i.e., an open-end waveguide stacked on top and the other underneath) the radiating section to induce the radiation beamwidth. The radiating rectangular waveguide is excited by a linearly probe with an attached circular disc. To design the antenna, its parameters are investigated by using an electromagnetic microwave simulator. In the analysis, the probe-feed open waveguide without and with stacked-coupling-aperture are demonstrated. Apparently, this antenna operates the WLAN frequency band of 2.4-2.5 GHz with the magnitude of S11 better than -10 dB. The simulated half-power beamwidths in both the E- and H-planes are equal 70° with the maximum gain of 7.1 dBi. The results will be reported and discussed in the paper.
