Item type:Publication, 2 to 16 GHz Microwave line-of-sight path loss prediction on Urban streets by fuzzy logic models(2005-01-01) ;Phaiboon, S. ;Phokharatkul, P.Somkuarnpanit, S.This paper proposes a method to model the path loss characteristics on urban streets in microwave band. We applied the concept of fuzzy logic to predict an unknown path loss from a set of known path loss. The input fuzzy sets were classified into five sets, namely distance between transmitter and receiver, frequency, time of day, transmitting antenna height and receiving antenna height. These inputs are then inferenced into output path loss via linguistic rules which were trained by measurement. To check the proposed model, we compared the fuzzy prediction with another measurement. The results shown that the fuzzy logic models provided a better prediction. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Propagation-path losses characterization for 800 MHz cellular communications in Bangkok(1999-01-01) ;Paiboon, S. ;Phokharatkul, P.Somkuarnpanit, S.This paper presents the propagation modeling for an 800 MHz cellular mobile system for design of the coverage areas. The model was modified from models of Lee and Hata for appropriate use in the Bangkok area. Having measured the field strengths at 52 locations around Bangkok, we found that the propagation-path loss at 1 mile, L<inf>0</inf>, is 72.7 dB, and the slope of the path loss, gamma/, is approximately 36.0 dB/dec. The measurements are based on a reference regarding the antenna heights of the base station and receiver at 30 and 3 meters, and with the antenna gains of the base station and receiver at 6 dB<inf>d</inf> and 0 dB<inf>d</inf>, respectively.
