Item type:Publication, Performance comparison of an asymmetrical parameter type two-phase induction motor supplied with balanced and unbalanced phase voltages(2010-07-30) ;Piyarat, W. ;Hothongkham, P.Kinnares, V.This paper presents a performance comparison of an asymmetrical parameter type two-phase induction motor supplied with balabced and unbalanced phase voltages using a three-leg voltage source inverter (VSI). Sinusoidal pulse width modulation(SPWM) method with constant V/F control is used for the two phase three leg inverter. Simulation and experimemtal results are used to evaluate the motor performance. It is found that the unbalanced applied voltage case offers the better motor perfoemance over the balanced applied voltage case in terms of torque ripple, speed holding capability and current trajectories, etc. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Distributed controller design for controlling a system with plant uncertainties over network(2005-12-01) ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Witheephanich, K.Piyarat, W.Distributed controller design for a Networked Control System (NCS) with plant uncertainties is proposed in this paper. Communication delays in the NCS are compensated with the designed robust controller using the graphical loopshaping technique. For plant uncertainties, a robust control loop is then designed based on the RNMFC scheme and augmented to the existing control system. The experimental result illustrates the benefits of the proposed method with the speed control of a dc motor over network. © 2005 SICE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A robust control structure enhancing nominal model following scheme for induction servomotor drive(2004-12-01) ;Phanphairoje, S. ;Witheephanich, K. ;Piyarat, W.Intajag, S.Motivated by the adaptive model following concept, a robust model following scheme Nominal Model Following Control (NMFC) is developed in this paper. NMFC has three main features: the use of a nominal model of the plant as a reference model, the introduction of a model controller which fulfills the reference tracking requirement and the inclusion of a simple PID correction mechanism which copes with all dynamic deviations of the real plant from its nominal model. Then, a simple robust controller are also designed and augmented with NMFC to reduce the effects of parameter variations and external disturbances further. The proposed control design techniques are employed to show the practicality of the technique for controlling induction servomotor system models. Simulation results illustrate that the desired tracking control performance of the servo drive can be preserved under wide operating range and good load regulating performance can also be obtained. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Speed control of three-phase induction motor online tuning by genetic algorithm(2003-01-01) ;Chiewchitboon, P. ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Soonthornphisaj, N.Piyarat, W.This paper presents the technique of three phase induction motor controls by using the genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm is control by a PC and PWM is generated by MCS-51, the gain K<inf>P</inf>, K<inf>i</inf> which will be selected by genetic algorithm controller to sense and select the adequate load. The genetic algorithm technique can control the suitable amount supplying power to motor speed by variable input frequency feed to the motor. The controller is implemented to the real time application by creating the controller box that signal is linked to the PC via the RS232 port. The result are shows that the good performance compared with PI controller that gain K<inf>P</inf>, K<inf>i</inf> are manual inputs. This real time application will support the development in industrial. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Adjustable energy control with ICBRM technique(2002-01-01) ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Suesut, T. ;Thepsatorn, P. ;Piyarat, W.Sawaengsinkasikit, W.This paper presents a control method for single-phase and three-phase AC voltage supply by mean of ICBRM variable energy control technique which provides suitable power supply feeding to load requirements, and also, improve the feeding efficiency resulting in increased energy saving. The Integral Cycle Binary Rate Modulation (ICBRM) signals are integral cycle compositions of 8-bit binary rate multiplier (BRM) and 50 Hz, three-phase AC voltage signals which are divided into 8 parts per cycle, so that 2040 patterns are provided for the single-phase and three-phase feeding applications. Experimental results shows that such methods can be properly implemented for lighting bulbs and three-phase induction motor with low energy loss. This mean that the technique provides high efficiency performance and conducts energy saving. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Identification and control of brushless DC motors using on-line trained artificial neural networks(2002-01-01) ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Piyarat, W.Tarasantisuk, C.This paper proposes high performance with simultaneous online identification and control designed for brushless DC motor drives. The dynamics of the motor/load are modeled online and controlled using an artificial neural network (ANN) based identification and control scheme incorporating three multilayer feedforward neural networks that are trained online using the gradient descent training algorithm. The control of the direct and quadrature components of the stator current successfully tracked a wide variety of trajectories. The control strategy adapts to the uncertainties of motor/load dynamics, and, in addition, learns their inherent nonlinearities. The use of feedforward neural networks makes the drives system robust, accurate and insensitive to parameter variations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, New adjustable frequency controlled SPIM drive(2000-12-01) ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Numsomran, A. ;Piyarat, W. ;Thepsathorn, P.Charean, A.This paper presents the methodology of Single Phase Induction Motor (SPIM) speed controlling by Multi frequency and new Binary Rate Multipliers (BRM) technique that gives rise to suitable energy supply to motor at any instant. Knowing the voltage and current, power is calculated by vector space method. The result is feedback to two Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers for processing by means of frequency 40 to 80 Hz and BRM which gives the patterns up to 256 forms. It shows fast time response of returning to normal state, both loading and no load, not exceed 1.0 seconds. The superiority of this technique is that, both apparent and reactive power decrease while running at no load and full load power factor increase up to 0.444 and 0.633 respectively. Thus, higher efficiency is achieved.
