Item type:Publication, Trapezoid-stub fed rectangular slot antenna for WLAN and WiMAX applications(2010-12-01) ;Arsusiri, N. ;Sangaroon, O. ;Puntheeranurak, S.Anantrasirichai, N.This paper proposes the design of slot antenna for wideband use in wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications. The antenna structure is comprised of a rectangular slot antenna and excited microstrip transmission line. The antenna is designed on low cost FR4 substrate and the simulation results are analyzed by IE3D Zeland software [1]. The trapezoid tuning stub at the end of the microstrip line is proposed for decreasing return loss between frequency range 2.27 GHz to 6.21 GHz. The simulation result of return loss of the proposed antenna is shown that the operating bandwidth at frequency range of 2.27-6.21 GHz coverage standard of IEEE 802.11 b/g/j/a/h in WLAN (2.4-2.4835 GHz, 4.9-5.1 GHz, 5.15-5.35 GHz, 5.7-5.9 GHz) and WiMAX (2.5-2.7 GHz, 3.4-3.6. 5.7-5.9 GHz). The characteristics of antenna are proposed and analyzed for return loss, input impedance, bandwidth, VSWR, gain, and radiation pattern. ©ICROS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A study on tuning-stub of slot antenna for ultra-wideband applications(2010-12-01) ;Arsusiri, N. ;Sangaroon, O. ;Puntheeranurak, S.Anantrasirichai, N.This paper describes the increasing bandwidth of slot antennas with simply microstrip feed line design. The lower edge frequency of the first band depends on antenna size and the bandwidth becomes widen due to tuning stub. The effect of tuning stub can expand upper frequency of bandwidth to higher frequency. The higher frequency is defined by the stub shape, and its parameters are adjusted to match impedance of transmission line with 50 ohms. By properly setting stub size, a wide impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna can be achieved for ultra-wideband applications. We propose the tuning stub at the end of the microstrip line for extending bandwidth over 8.0 GHz. In this case, an impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna with tuning stub is 8.05 GHz from frequency range 2.73 GHz to 10.78 GHz. This bandwidth coverage the requirement standard of IEEE 802.15a of frequency range from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz of bandwidth 7.5 GHz by The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)[1]. ©ICROS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Wide-band slot antenna fed by coplanar waveguide for WLAN applications(2009-01-01) ;Kueathaweekun, W. ;Puntheeranurak, S. ;Benjangkaprasert, C. ;Anantrasirichai, N.Wakabayashi, T.This paper presents the slot antenna fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) for WLAN applications. The characteristics of an antenna are proposed and analyzed for instance return loss, bandwidth and far field radiation patterns. Simulation results of the proposed antenna show the impedance bandwidth, determined by-10 dB return loss, approximate 140 % (1.66-9.44GHz) of the center band. The radiation patterns are bi-directional, and maximum gain is 5.7 dBi at 5.0 GHz. The simulation results of the slot antenna are analyzed by using IE3D Software.
