Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is a crucial facilitator for high-data-rate wireless communication due to its extensive frequency spectrum and low power consumption. Simultaneously, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems have garnered considerable attention owing to their capability to enhance channel capacity and link dependability. This article discusses the development of small, high-performance MIMO UWB antennas with mutual suppression capabilities to fully use the benefits of both technologies. Additionally, the suggested antenna features a straightforward design and dual-band-notched characteristics. The antenna structure includes two radiating elements measuring 85 × 45 mm2. These elements use a rectangular patch provided by a coplanar waveguide (CPW). Double U-shaped slots are incorporated into the rectangular patch to introduce dual-band-notched properties, which help mitigate interference from WiMAX and WLAN communication systems. The antenna is fabricated on a Mylar® polyester film substrate of 0.3 mm in thickness, with a dielectric constant of 3.2. According to the measurement results, the suggested antenna functions efficiently across the frequency spectrum of 2.29 to 20 GHz, with excellent impedance matching throughout the bandwidth. Furthermore, it provides dual-band-notched coverage at 3.08–3.8 GHz for WiMAX and 4.98–5.89 GHz for WLAN. The antenna exhibits impressive performance, including favorable radiation attributes, consistent gain, and little mutual coupling (less than −20 dB). Additionally, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is extremely low (ECC < 0.01) across the working bandwidth, which indicates excellent UWB MIMO performance. This paper offers an appropriate design methodology for future flexible and compact UWB MIMO systems that can serve as interference-resilient antennas for next-generation wireless applications.

The study examines a wideband antenna solution that combines military fabric integration with X-band satellite functionality. The proposed antenna, with dimensions of 40×40×0.565 mm3, is constructed using gabardine fabric with a herringbone twill (HBT) pattern with physical parameters of 0.395 mm thickness, relative permittivity of 1.8848, and dielectric loss tangent measuring 0.02611. Testing in an anechoic chamber shows excellent agreement between simulated and measured results, with the antenna operating from 7.25 - 12.28 GHz, corresponding to a fractional bandwidth of 50.89%, a measured peak gain of 6.49 dBi, while radiation patterns, return loss, and gain measurements validate its practical performance. Exploiting advancements in wearable electromagnetic systems and demonstrating seamless integration into military apparel, the proposed antenna establishes a robust solution viable for deployment in sophisticated defense communication infrastructures.

This paper presents a new compact thin-film ultrawideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics. The antenna contains a rectangular slot with a fork-like tuning stub. To achieve the dual band-notched characteristics, narrow and U-shaped slots are inserted on the radiator. This antenna is printed on a Mylar film substrate of 0.3 mm thickness with a dielectric constant of 3.2. The antenna has compact dimensions of 34.5 × 27.3 mm2. It operates in the frequency range 2.9-11.3 GHz with impedance matching covering the entire bandwidth and reasonable radiation properties. It also exhibits dual band-notched characteristics. One of the notched frequencies is in the range 3.3-3.7 GHz (WiMAX band) and the other in the range 5.1-5.8 GHz (WLAN band). The antenna is designed and simulated by using the commercial IE3D software, which is based on the method of moments. The antenna was fabricated and measured using Agilent E363B PNA network analyzers. The characteristics of the fabricated antenna show high correlation with those obtained from the simulation. The results confirm that the proposed antenna can achieve notch performance for WLAN and WiMAX communication systems and is also suitable for various portable UWB applications.

This paper presents a lightweight antenna for wireless communication systems. The proposed antenna has been designed to be a dual-band and dual-polarized antenna by using a right-angled slot structure fed a by microstrip line. The designed antenna is composed of three right-angled slot radiators on the ground plane. The first two radiators are right-angled slots of similar scale which are added to generate circular polarization at 4.95 GHz, while the last one has been designed for linear polarization at 2.45 GHz. Furthermore, in order to achieve dual-band operation and dual polarization with good matching, a special arrangement is proposed. The results of simulation and measurements such as return loss, axial ratio, and radiation patterns are shown at the resonant frequencies of 2.45 and 4.95 GHz. Details of the experimental results are presented and discussed. In addition, the presented antenna can operate and cover the applications of a wireless local area network (WLAN IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/j/n). © 2014 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

An ultra-wideband slot antenna on flexible substrate is designed to support a wide range of wireless communication systems. The antenna is a rectangular slot antenna fed by microstrip line with conductor strip and tuning stub on flexible substrate (Mylar Polyester film). The rectangular slot is etched out from the ground plane with conductor strip in the slot, and the other plane contains a microstrip line with tuning stub. The proposed antenna’s effective frequency range covers overall standard bands of WLAN, WiMAX, and UWB. The antenna was simulated and analyzed by using IE3D Zeland software [1]. And the simulation results presents the characteristics of the antenna in terms of bandwidth return loss, VSWR, and radiation patterns.

This paper presents the bandwidth enhancement of rectangular slot antenna fed by microstrip line on the flexible Mylar Polyester film substrate. Asymmetrical conductor strip is designed and inserted in the rectangular slot to extend the bandwidth from 3.06 GHz to 7.2 GHz frequency range. Besides, the rectangular conductor at the end of the feeding microstrip line is introduced for increasing the bandwidth at high frequency up to 12.32 GHz. This improved antenna to cover standard frequency range of UWB (3.1 GHz – 10.6 GHz). Finally, as to reject the frequency band of IEEE 802.11a (5.15 GHz – 5.35 GHz), the line strip at the side of tuning stub is added. In this case, the band-notched frequency from 5.15GHz to 5.38 GHz can be easily obtained.

A novel compact and light weight antenna for dual band and dual polarized right angle slot antenna fed by micorstrip line use in wireless network technology is designed. The antenna composed of three right angle slot radiators on a same ground plane. Two right angle slots in the same size are arranged for circularly polarized at frequency 4.95 GHz and the other one is designed for linearly polarized at frequency 2.45 GHz. Therefore, in order to achieve dual band and dual polarized with good matching, the technique of arrangement is recommended. This paper presents a novel multiband microstrip-fed right angle slot antenna design technique for multiple independent frequency bands. The new technique uses various slot sizes at various appropriate positions. We first propose a tri-band slot antenna consisting of three right angle slots. Then, a quad-band slot antenna is developed with four right angle slots which achieves slant ±45° linear polarization, omnidirectional pattern coverage, good antenna gain, and acceptable impedance bandwidths over all the operating frequency range. Moreover, an opencircuited tuning stub is introduced to achieve good impedance matching. Both proposed antennas are designed on a ground plane of RT/duroid 5880 substrate with a thickness of 1.575 mm. The real measurable results show that the desired frequencies used in wireless communication systems, namely, WLAN and WiMax, are efficiently achieved. © 2009 ETRI.
