In this paper, q-Bessel polynomials for linear phase matched filter is presented. In order to approximate a receiver filter with optimum performance, a raised-cosine test pulse is utilized. A transfer function of the proposed matched filter at receiver consists of transmission zero pairs and q-Bessel polynomials used as a linear phase denominator. Simulation results show that the performance of the matched filter is better than the one obtained from conventional Bessel polynomials.

A CPW antenna is designed at resonant frequency 2.3 GHz on low cost FR4 substrate by using simulation software. The simple rectangular slot loop antenna fed by coplanar waveguide is referred as a prototype antenna to show the designed technique for bandwidth enhancement. To enhance the first band, the rectangular slot is extended from the top of slot loop into the inner conductor, and to achieve more wideband by inserting triangular conductor at the bottom of rectangular slot. Finally, the technique to enhance wide bandwidth coverings mobile 4G, WLAN, WiMAX, and UWB is done by inserting U-shaped strip into inner rectangular slot. The simulated impedance bandwidth of our propose wideband antenna is 8.52 GHz from frequency range of 2.22 GHz-10.74 GHz which is the coverage of mobile 4G (2.3 GHz-2.5 GHz), WLAN standard of IEEE 802.11b/g/j/a/n (2.4 GHz-2.4835 GHz, 4.9 GHz-5.091 GHz, 5.15 GHz-5.35 GHz, and 5.725 GHz-5.825 GHz), WiMAX (2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 5.8 GHz), and UWB (3.1 GHz-10.6 GHz). The measurements of this real antenna confirm that our proposed techniques can achieve wide frequency range of 2.26 GHz-11.14 GHz, which is suitable for the low-frequency of mobile 4G and also cover the high-frequency of UWB. That means, our antenna can supports all standard frequencies of applications in WLAN, WiMAX, and UWB. By this performance, the proposes antenna can be used in several wideband applications.

This paper presents a mathematical model for ECG waveform using Rational Bezier curves and Bernstein polynomials. There are three mathematical models; the Bernstein polynomials model, the Bézier-Bernstein model and the Rational Bézier-Bernstein model. All mathematical models can generate the ECG waveform which is similar to the normal ECG waveform. Moreover, all mathematical models can simulate a normal ECG waveform as well. As the results, the Rational Bezier-Bernstein model is a simple form, easy to make a circuit and lower cost in the implementation of the ECG waveform. © 2014 IEEE.

Multilevel photon combined with binary pulse position modulation (BPPM) (Manchester pulsed signals), is introduced in this letter. Initially, error probability derivation and explanation for four-level photon communications with that BPPM is presented. Next, the 2-level photon communications matching with BPPM is proposed. For performance comparison, it is done with that the conventional scheme by fixing the background noise and also increasing number of photon per slot. Successfully with applying convolutional coding for system improving, the proposed multilevel photon on BPPM with this coding scheme achieves higher gain. Finally, this work also benefits to improving for further performance when considering with multilevel error control coding as well. © 2013 Chinese Optics Letters.

This paper proposes the design of slot antenna for wideband use in wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications. The antenna structure is comprised of a rectangular slot antenna and excited microstrip transmission line. The antenna is designed on low cost FR4 substrate and the simulation results are analyzed by IE3D Zeland software [1]. The trapezoid tuning stub at the end of the microstrip line is proposed for decreasing return loss between frequency range 2.27 GHz to 6.21 GHz. The simulation result of return loss of the proposed antenna is shown that the operating bandwidth at frequency range of 2.27-6.21 GHz coverage standard of IEEE 802.11 b/g/j/a/h in WLAN (2.4-2.4835 GHz, 4.9-5.1 GHz, 5.15-5.35 GHz, 5.7-5.9 GHz) and WiMAX (2.5-2.7 GHz, 3.4-3.6. 5.7-5.9 GHz). The characteristics of antenna are proposed and analyzed for return loss, input impedance, bandwidth, VSWR, gain, and radiation pattern. ©ICROS.

This paper describes the increasing bandwidth of slot antennas with simply microstrip feed line design. The lower edge frequency of the first band depends on antenna size and the bandwidth becomes widen due to tuning stub. The effect of tuning stub can expand upper frequency of bandwidth to higher frequency. The higher frequency is defined by the stub shape, and its parameters are adjusted to match impedance of transmission line with 50 ohms. By properly setting stub size, a wide impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna can be achieved for ultra-wideband applications. We propose the tuning stub at the end of the microstrip line for extending bandwidth over 8.0 GHz. In this case, an impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna with tuning stub is 8.05 GHz from frequency range 2.73 GHz to 10.78 GHz. This bandwidth coverage the requirement standard of IEEE 802.15a of frequency range from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz of bandwidth 7.5 GHz by The Federal Communications Commission (FCC)[1]. ©ICROS.

This paper presents a variable luminance-chrominance gain equalizer for correcting the linear chrominance gain distortion in color TV transmission system. The new technique shows that the chrominance signal amplitude at 4.43 MHz can be controlled by using a delay line network in parallel with a variable resistor R<inf>T</inf>. Therefore, the proposed gain equalizer can be controlled by means of variable resistor R<inf>T</inf> and R<inf>Y</inf> for correction of the chrominance gain distortion. It is also proved to be efficient in equalizing because it offers more advantages. Among the advantages obtained using a delay line network in parallel with a variable resistor when compared to the gain equalizer provide by the other filters. First of all, it can provide a wide range of gain control. Secondly, the circuit of the proposed gain equalizer is simple with low cost. Next, it is also low complexity. At last, the chrominance gain distortion can be easily corrected without much serious delay error. Additionally, a modulated 20T sine-squared pulse test signal is used to test the performance of the proposed gain equalizer.

The two difference configurations of double rectangular slot loop antenna are proposed for comparison on bandwidth and size of antenna. These antennas are designed for dual frequency support WLAN system coverage IEEE 802.11b/g (2.4-2.4835 GHz), IEEE 802.11j (4.90-5.091), IEEE 802.11a (5.15-5.35 GHz), and IEEE 802.16d (5.7-5.9 GHz). The PCB-FR4 substrate with dielectric constant (ε<inf>r</inf>) 4.5 of thickness 1.6 mm is chose for low cost. The simulation results of these slot antennas are analyzed by using Method of Moment (MoM) from IE3D Software. In this case, the result of bandwidth for low frequency and high frequency of one antenna are 11.29% and 62%, and other are 6.1% and 75.5%, respectively. The size with ground plane of double slot loop antenna can be reduced 12.9% or can be reduced size of double slot loop antenna about 21.5% when set the new inner conductor. © 2008 SICE.

The coplanar waveguide fed slot antenna with inset L-stripe tuning stub is proposed for UWB applications. The antenna consists of two rectangular slots separated by center strip with CPW feed line. This antenna is design for match impedance with 50 ohm of characteristic impedance of transmission line by using inset L-stripe tuning stub for wideband matching. By adjusting dimension of inset L-strip tuning stub, the range of bandwidth can be achieved 144.6% (1.80 GHz -11.2 GHz) of the center band coverage standard of IEEE 802.15a for ultra wideband operation. The characteristics of antenna are proposed and analyzed for instance input impedance, return loss, bandwidth, VSWR, and far field radiation patterns. © 2008 SICE.
