Item type:Publication, The effectiveness of seed coating with microbial fungicide on controlling seed quality and damping-off disease of tomato(2026-01-01) ;Baikaden, S. ;Sikhao, P.Koohakan, P.Microbial seed coating was not significantly influenced germination percentage, germination index, or germination speed under laboratory conditions. Whereas, seeds coated with Trichoderma asperellum and Bacillus subtilis consistently demonstrated to improve seedling emergence and vigor in greenhouse conditions. With respect to disease suppression, coatings seeds with T. asperellum resulted to reduce both the incidence and severity of damping-off disease caused by Pythium torulosum. The lowest disease incidence (30.50%) and severity (17.43%) were observed in seedlings from T. asperellum-coated seeds. These findings highlighted the potential of antagonistic microbial coatings to promote seedling health and provided a sustainable strategy for managing soilborne diseases. This approach is offered a promising complement or alternative to chemical control methods in commercial tomato seedling production. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A study of polymer for delay germination in hybrid sweet corn seed production(2024-05-01) ;Sodakul, N.Sikhao, P.The results showed that the pH values of each coating substance formulation exhibited statistically significant differences. Notably, the highest pH value was observed in the coating substance mixed with CMC. Similarly, the viscosity of the coating substances showed significant variations, with the commercial coating substance having the highest viscosity. Following this, the coating substances mixed with CMC, HPMC, NaAlg, and PVP-K30 demonstrated progressively lower viscosities. To assess the uniformity of the coating, the surface characteristics of the seeds were visually examined. The results indicated that seeds coated with the commercial coating substance exhibited the highest coating uniformity. Subsequently, the uniformity levels decreased in the following order: seeds coated with a mixture of PVP-K30, HPMC, CMC, and NaAlg. For the seed quality test after coating, the results showed that all types of polymers had no statistically significant effect on the germination percentage and germination index. If further studies are conducted on the types and concentrations of polymers, it is possible to develop seed coating formulations to delay germination. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Influence of vacuum packaging combined with storage condition on biochemical activities and quality of groundnut seed (Arachis hypogaea L.)(2024-01-01) ;Multha, N.Sikhao, P.The results showed that seeds stored in 760-gauge polypropylene bags at vacuum levels of -0.04 MPa and -0.06 MPa under controlled conditions exhibited the highest dehydrogenase enzyme activity, germination percentage and index, and also displayed the lowest free fatty acid content. Additionally, it was observed that the moisture content and water activity of seeds in all packaging materials remained consistent from the beginning to the end of the storage period. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Determination of mechanical damage on soybean seed by clorox soak test(2024-01-01) ;Baikaden, S. ;Thepchit, K. ;Buaket, T.Sikhao, P.The Clorox soak test was assessed soybean seed damage, proving to be a comfortable and effective method for detection. Among different seed lots, the third lot exhibited the lowest percentage of damaged seeds. Notably, these seeds yielded seedlings with the highest root length, shoot length, and dry weight. Regarding damage levels, both undropped seeds and those dropped two times displayed the highest shoot length and seedling dry weight. Seed vigor assessed through accelerated aging that showed Lot 2 of soybean seeds had the highest vigor across all damage levels. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sweet corn seeds coating with hexane plant extracts for controlling maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky) and their effect on seed qualities(2023-01-01) ;Pumnuan, J. ;Sikhao, P. ;Sarapothong, K. ;Nameea, D.Doungnapa, T.The insecticidal activity of hexane crude extracts from star anise, Illicium verum Hook.f. (HS) and clove, Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merrill & Perry (HC) coated on sweet corn seeds, Zea mays var. rugosa against maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky were evaluated in laboratory conditions. The sweet corn seeds were coated with 1, 3 and 5% hexane extracts and stored at 4°C for the period of 6 months. The insecticidal property and the effect on seed germination were evaluated after period of 2, 4 and 6 months. Various concentrations of extracts and fipronil insecticide (positive control) were tested for their efficiencies and compared with the coating agent (negative control). The result of this study showed that all hexane extract treatments gave low effectiveness to kill the adult insects, nevertheless it could completely inhibit progeny emerging. Besides, 1% of HS and HC application by using this film seed coating method presented moderate effect on seed germination after period of 6 months as it exhibited the seed germination in laboratory percentages of more than 60%. However, insect mortalities caused by hexane extracts were significantly different compared with the positive and negative control groups. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of drying methods during priming on quality and longevity of rice seeds(2022-03-01) ;Sangkrabun, P.Sikhao, P.The best suitable drying method for primed Khao Dawk Mali 105 rice seeds was used a hot air oven at 30°C for 36 h and stored them in the uncontrolled environment. There was resulted to be lowest moisture, highest germination percentage and germination index for primed seeds. This method can keep the moisture in rice seeds low, reduce the process of decaying and extend the longevity and quality of primed rice seeds. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of Seed Coating with Fluorescent Compound on Quality and Fluorescence of Cucumber seeds(2021-11-01) ;Thiphinkong, D.Sikhao, P.The quality and fluorescence of seed after coating with fluorescent compound on cucumber was investigated. The results showed that the coated seed with all types of fluorescent compound had a fluorescence when examined by using a portable ultraviolet light projector. The coated seed with coating substance mixed with Rhodamine had the clearest fluorescence. All the coated seed with coating substance mixed with fluorescence compound were specifically emissions spectra observed from a spectrofluorophotometer. In addition, there were also not affected germination and germination index of seed. In summary, coating with coating substance mixed with Rhodamine is an effective and convenient to mark any cucumber seed lot for provide identity and other qualifications as well as preventing counterfeiting of seeds. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Application of seed coating with endophytic bacteria for Fusarium wilt disease reduction and growth promotion in tomato(2020-01-01) ;Koohakan, P. ;Prasom, P.Sikhao, P.Tomato seed coating with endophytic bacteria (SuRW02) was used to control Fusarium wilt disease of tomato and stimulated plant growth in field conditions. Results showed that seed coating with isolate SuRW02 reduced disease incidence and severity which similar to seed coating with chemical fungicide (Captan). Seed coating with endophytic bacteria and Captan showed disease incidences of 38 and 25% and disease severity indices of 0.37 and 0.25, respectively. Uncoated seeds and seed coating without endophytic bacteria had a disease incidences of 70 and 50% and disease severity indices of 2.00 and 1.25, respectively. In addition, seed coating with endophytic bacteria promoted tomato plant growth and quality of tomato production.
