Item type:Publication, Textile Antenna with Meta-Surface on Curved-Surface for Smart Clothing Applications(2025-01-01) ;Wichakoon, Worathan ;Arnmanee, Praphat ;Wongsiritorn, PitchanunPhongcharoenpanich, ChuwongThis paper presents a textile antenna integrated with a meta-surface for smart clothing applications, designed for installation on curved surfaces. The antenna is designed to operate over a wide frequency band, including the 2.4 GHz band, making it suitable for wearable applications. Its structure comprises a textile antenna and a 3×3 meta-surface array, fabricated using felt and Shieldit fabric. The antenna demonstrates key characteristics such as adaptability to curved surfaces, reduced specific absorption rate (SAR), and high gain. Experimental results indicate that when installed on a curved surface, the |S<inf>11</inf>| parameter remains below -10 dB at 2.4 GHz, with an antenna gain ranging from 4.62 to 6.71 dBi. The antenna is evaluated at three positions on clothing - chest, shoulders, and back - exhibiting consistent performance in terms of |S<inf>11</inf>|, gain, and radiation pattern. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Exponential horn antenna excited by circular ring for bridging outdoor wireless LAN applications(2017-12-19) ;Wounchoum, Phairote ;Wongsiritorn, Pitchanun ;Kosulvit, SompolPhongcharoenpanich, ChuwongIn this paper, a circular ring is used to excite exponential horn antenna presented for bridging outdoor wireless LAN applications. The advantage of this structure does not require a waveguide feeding system. The purpose of this antenna design is to achieve unidirectional antenna which is operated at the center frequency of 2.45 GHz (2.40 GHz to 2.484 GHz). The characteristics of the proposed antenna such as S<inf>11</inf>, radiation pattern and gain are also demonstrated. The results show that the antenna have given a high gain of 14.6 dBi and S11 less than-30 dB at the center frequency. The proposed antenna is very useful for bridging outdoor WLAN systems. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Modified UTD-based UHF RFID tag antenna with two-pronged fork slot for coated metallic cylindrical surface(2016-04-12) ;Wongsiritorn, Pitchanun ;Phongcharoenpanich, Chuwong ;Pumpoung, Tajchai ;Phaebua, KittisakLertwiriyaprapa, TitipongAbstract: This research has proposed a modified uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) for radiation to investigate the radiation pattern on the coated metallic curved surface. The modified UTD, which accounts for the existence of the impedance surface (coating), is applied to the development of a compact UHF RFID passive tag antenna with a two-pronged fork slot to be mounted on the coated metallic cylindrical drum. In the calculation, the UHF RFID tag was initially represented by electric tangential (E<inf>z</inf>-source) and equivalent magnetic tangential to the surface (M<inf>z</inf>-source). The results indicated that the M<inf>z</inf>-source could achieve a greater communication area, and thus the design of the tag antenna is of equivalent magnetic source. Simulations were then carried out to determine the optimal antenna parameters, and an antenna prototype was fabricated and tested. The simulation and measured results are in agreement. The research findings validate the effectiveness of the modified UTD-based UHF RFID tag for application on the coated metallic curved surface. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The “KMITL” text bent dipole is the technique to reduce the physical size of the tag antenna. The I-loop structure is used to improve the impedances of the tag antenna to achieve the conjugate matching with the IC chip. The impedance of the IC chip at the frequency of 922.5 MHz is 21.29 − j191.7 Ω. The maximum read range is 4.5 m. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of electromagnetic wave radiation from C-slot RFID tag mounted on impedance curved surface using the UTD solution(2013-12-01) ;Wongsiritorn, Pitchanun ;Phongcharoenpanich, Chuwong ;Pumpoung, Tajchai ;Lertwiriyaprapa, TitipongPhaebua, KittisakThe electromagnetic (EM) wave radiation of the C-slot radio frequency identification (RFID) tag located on the impedance surface in this paper is analyzed using the uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD) solution. The UTD radiation solution for the impedance curved surface is employed to predict the EM wave radiation of the RFID tag mounted on the impedance curved product surface. The UTD radiation solution provides the physical insight of the EM field at the observation point and requires less computational time than the other numerical methods. The results show that the UTD radiation solution can accurately predict the radiation pattern of the proposed C-slot RFID tag mounted on the product. The proposed tag antenna can efficiently be applied to the curved surface object, such as the curved metallic product coated with dielectric (layers of paints). © 2013 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Characteristics of RFID C-slot tag antenna on a coated metallic cylindrical surface(2012-12-01) ;Wongsiritorn, Pitchanun ;Lertwiriyaprapa, Titipong ;Phongcharoenpanich, ChuwongPhaebua, KittisakRecently, the ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) is increasingly used for the automatic identification and tracking. The UHF RFID system consists of the RFID reader and the RFID tag. The RFID reader generates the radio wave energy into the air via the reader antenna [1]-[2]. The tag usually consists of the tag antenna element and the micro chip which includes the product information. The tag antenna is generally made from copper strip with a meander line shape (folded dipole concept). In order to activate the tag micro chip, the impedance of the tag antenna should be a complex conjugate of the micro chip impedance to obtain enough operating power for the chip [3]. The RFID tag antenna converts the RF energy from the RFID reader into the chip. The chip can send a signal back (product data) to the RFID reader via scattered fields, respectively. The RFID tag is generally attached on the surface of the product packet such as paper parcel, plastic box, metallic surface of the product, etc. The radiation pattern and impedance of the RFID tag are distorted due to the near field scattered from metallic objects nearby. Especially, the RFID tag attaches to the metallic surface of the product such the tank contained gas, gasoline, oil tank, etc. Typically, the UHF RFID tag antenna behaves like the electric source (dipole or meander line shapes). Therefore, the EM energy in the shadow zone (behind the product) is dramatically decreased when the RFID tag is directly attached on the curved metallic product due to the electric field parallel to the metallic surface. Moreover, the tank of a gas, gasoline and oil are usually coated with some color layers. The material layer will affect the radiation pattern of the tag. Importantly, the prediction of the EM field radiated from the source on a curved surface is very important in the RFID tag antenna design procedure. In order to avoid the degradation of the electric source from the impact of the metallic product, it is of interest to consider the magnetic source type such as slot shape attached on the metallic curved surface. Therefore, the slot type antenna is proposed to use as a tag antenna instead of the conventional dipole or meander line shapes. © 2012 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
