Item type:Publication, Influence of Graphene Oxide Nanoparticles on the Mechanical Behavior of Stereolithography Printed Polyether Ether Ketone Composites(2026-01-01) ;Ramkumar, N. P. ;Sharma, S. C. ;Adarsha, H. ;Shaik, Nagoor BashaAnurakparadorn, KanatThe objective of this work is to analyze the impact of graphene oxide percentage on the mechanical behavior of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) nanocomposites produced by stereolithography. The dispersion of graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles was analyzed using both the scanning electron microscopes and transmission electron microscopes. The mechanical properties of nanocomposites were analyzed by performing hardness and tensile tests in accordance with ASTM standards. The morphology of the final product shows a consistent distribution of GO nanoparticles and a robust interfacial bonding between the nanoparticle reinforcement and the PEEK matrix. It is found that the nanoparticles enhanced the dimensional stability of the nanocomposites, resulting in lower dimensional tolerance compared to the pure PEEK material. The microhardness test has been carried out on the samples, demonstrating the beneficial effect of nanoparticles; the PEEK nanocomposite containing 0.75% nanoparticles gives a higher hardness value of 71 VHN. The strength of nanocomposites was found to increase due to the robust interfacial cohesion between GO and PEEK, resulting in enhanced hardness. Here, the hardness exhibits a negative impact on elongation, which yields a declining trend from (1.7 ± 0.6)% to (1.4 ± 0.6)% with an increase in graphene oxide nanoparticles. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The Study of the Effect of Multilayer MXene Incorporation on the Properties of Polyacrylate Composites Fabricated by Stereolithography(2026-01-01) ;Anurakparadorn, KanatSukpimai, KamtornThis study explores the incorporation of multilayer Ti3C2Tx MXene into a polyacrylate-based photocurable resin for stereolithography (SLA). Composites with 3–10 wt% MXene were fabricated and characterized for microstructure, electrical, mechanical, and dimensional accuracy. SEM and XRD confirmed successful MXene formation with partial agglomeration. Electrical conductivity improved up to 8 wt% loading but declined at 10 wt% due to filler aggregation. Mechanical testing showed reduced strength and stiffness but increased ductility with higher MXene content. Optical microscopy revealed high printing resolution, with ~3% error at the top surfaces and ~13% at the bottom. These results demonstrate the feasibility of SLA-printed MXene composites while highlighting the need for optimized dispersion to balance performance. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Er-Doped BiVO4/BiFeO3 Nanocomposites Synthesized via Sonochemical Process and Their Piezo-Photocatalytic Application(2024-06-01) ;Kansaard, Thanaphon ;Songpanit, Maneerat ;Noonuruk, Russameeruk ;Wattanawikkam, ChakkaphanMekprasart, WanichayaIn this work, Er-doped BiVO<inf>4</inf>/BiFeO<inf>3</inf> composites are prepared using the sonochemical process with a difference of rare earth loading compositions. The crystallinity and chemical and morphological structure of as-synthesized samples were investigated via X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering, and electron microscopy, respectively. The diffuse reflectance technique was used to extract the optical property and calculate the optical band gap of the composite sample. The piezo-photocatalytic performance was evaluated according to the decomposition of a Rhodamine B organic compound. The decomposition of the organic compound was achieved under ultrasonic bath irradiation combined with light exposure. The Er-doped BiVO<inf>4</inf>/BiFeO<inf>3</inf> composite heterojunction material exhibited significant enhancement of the piezo-photocatalytic activity under both ultrasonic and light irradiation due to the improvement in charge generation and separation. The result indicates that Er dopant strongly affects the phase transformation, change in morphology, and alternation in optical band gap of the BiVO<inf>4</inf> matrix. The incorporation of BiFeO<inf>3</inf> in the composite form with BiVO<inf>4</inf> doped with 1%Er can improve the photocatalytic performance of BiVO<inf>4</inf> via piezo-induced charge separation and charge recombination retardment. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Microstructure, Hardening, and Mechanical Properties of Hypoeutectic Al–Ce–Ni Alloys with Zr and Zr + Sc Additions and the Effect of Ultrasonic Melt Processing(2023-11-01) ;Chankitmunkong, Suwaree ;Wang, Feng ;Limmaneevichitr, ChaowalitEskin, Dmitry G.Ternary Al–Ce–Ni alloys have a potential in the manufacture of automotive and airspace components, as well as in replacing traditional aluminum alloys in high-temperature applications, which is determined by the formation of fine and thermally stable Al<inf>11</inf>Ce<inf>3</inf> and Al<inf>3</inf>Ni eutectic. Herein, the microstructure and mechanical properties of a hypoeutectic Al<inf>4</inf>Ce<inf>2</inf>Ni alloy using Zr and Zr + Sc additions combined with ultrasonic melt processing and dispersion hardening are improved. As a result, the grain structure of the as-cast alloys is significantly refined and the annealing at 350 °C leads to a considerable hardening effect, especially in the alloys with Zr + Sc additions (doubling the hardness). Al<inf>3</inf>Zr and Al<inf>3</inf>(Zr,Sc) coherent particles are identified as hardening nanoprecipitates. The compressive mechanical testing at room and elevated temperatures shows that the additions of Zr and Zr + Sc improve the strength with the additional increase caused by ultrasonic melt processing. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Characterization and Visible Light-Driven Photocatalytic Activity of BiVO4/BiOCl/Bi2S3 Nanocomposites Prepared by Sonochemical Process(2023-05-01) ;Kansaard, Thanaphon ;Ishihara, Keiichi N.Pecharapa, WisanuPhotodecomposition performance enhancement of BiVO<inf>4</inf> is carried out by combining it with compatible semiconductors, such as bismuth oxyhalides and sulfide-based photocatalyst materials. In this article, the synthesis of BiVO<inf>4</inf>/BiOCl/Bi<inf>2</inf>S<inf>3</inf> is carried out by a one-step sonochemical process at room temperature with various S:Bi mole ratios (1:9, 2:8, and 3:7). The crystallinity and morphological features of the synthesized powders display a BiVO<inf>4</inf> monoclinic phase accompanied by BiOCl tetragonal and Bi<inf>2</inf>S<inf>3</inf> orthorhombic phases. Field-emission electron microscopy micrographs show an irregular shape with various particle sizes and layering with the characteristic shape of BiOCl. The optical bandgap of the composites has various values in the range of 1.3–3.3 eV. The best photocatalytic performance is observed for the 2–8 composite sample, which produced complete degradation of RhB, with k = 0.17 min−1, after 20 min of visible light exposure. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of Surface Modification on Corrosion Resistance, Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Epoxy Resin-Based Nanocomposites(2023-01-01) ;Buaphuen, Phummiphat ;Tongpon, PattaratonVittayakorn, WanwilaiThe epoxy resin-based nanocomposites have been used to overcome the drawback of epoxy resin such as brittle, low impact resistance, poor stress cracking and poor corrosion resistance in the aggressive environment by incorporating inorganic nanoparticles into the high cross-linked structure of epoxy resin. However, the main problem of these composites is the agglomeration of nanoparticles which influences the worst dispersion in the epoxy matrix and leads to poor properties of the composite. Therefore, this work aims to study the effect of nanoparticle additions, i.e. ZrO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticle and SiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticle including waste glass powder (WGP) which is an alternative inorganic filler, on properties of the epoxy resin-based nanocomposite. The particle surface of each filler was also modified with 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GTPMS) in order to achieve better dispersion in the disk-shaped bulk composites. The chemical property of modified fillers was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The physical properties, mechanical properties, water absorption and corrosion resistance of all composites are then investigated. The results revealed that the incorporations of ZrO<inf>2</inf>, SiO<inf>2</inf>, and WGP with GPTMS surface modification into epoxy resin-based nanocomposite exhibit better performance in mechanical properties, water absorption and corrosion resistance than the unmodified surface of ZrO<inf>2</inf>, SiO<inf>2</inf>, and WGP additions. Although, both modified- and unmodified surfaces of fillers for the epoxy resin-based nanocomposites show improvement in all properties compared to the neat epoxy resin but the electrical properties of epoxy resin-based nanocomposites with unmodified fillers and GPTMS-modified fillers do not show a significant effect on any electrical properties. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Montmorillonite/Tripolyphosphate Crosslinked Chitosan Nanocomposites for Eco-Friendly Agricultural Applications(2023-01-01) ;Siriphannon, Punnama ;Rungkron, Suthida ;Soetsom, SunisaSukyee, SuriyaNatural montmorillonite (MMT) was facilely impregnated with a mixed solution of protonated chitosan (CS) and KNO3, which was then subsequently impregnated with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP) to ionically crosslink with chitosan, resulting in the MMT/xCS-20KNO3-TPP nanocomposites. The initial content of chitosan to MMT was varied from 2.5, 5 and 10 wt%, and while the TPP:chitosan weight ratio was kept at 1:5. The K+ and NO3- ions interacted ionically and were entrapped in the MMT basal spacing and the free volume of TPP crosslinked chitosan of the MMT/xCS-20KNO3-TPP nanocomposites. These nanocomposites were able to successfully prolong the K+ and NO3- releases, in which the cumulative released values (%R) ranging from 21 – 26 % for K+ and 0.37 – 0.65 % for NO3-. The presence of protonated amine in the chitosan played the dominant effect on the release profile of NO3- ion more than that of the K+ ion. The higher the chitosan content employed in the impregnation method, the more crosslinked chitosan structure in the MMT/xCS-20KNO3-TPP nanocomposites, resulting in decreased K+ and NO3-releases at each pre-determined soaking duration. The MMT/xCS-20KNO3-TPP nanocomposites have been considered as a promising choice for environmentally friendly fertilizers. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Soft solution growth of magnetite-maghemite nanocrystals in crosslinked chitosan templates and their superparamagnetic properties(2022-01-01) ;Vaewbundit, SukandaSiriphannon, PunnamaCrosslinked chitosan/iron oxide nanocomposites (CC/IO) were synthesized at low temperatures using aqueous systems, i.e. hydrothermal and refluxing methods. The CC templates derived from various concentrations of tripolyphosphate crosslinker were used as host materials. The Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions with 1:2 molar ratio were adsorbed into the CC templates by the swelling, allowing to form CC/Fe2+Fe3+ precursors. The CC/IO nanocomposites were created by treating the precursors in NaOH solution using hydrothermal and refluxing methods. The CC/IO nanocomposites contained magnetite-maghemite nanocrystals with quadrilateral shape of 10 − 14 nm embedded in the CC templates. Superparamagnetism was obtained in the CC/IO nanocomposites, which had maximum magnetization (M<inf>max</inf>) values ranging from 8.6 to 15.2 emu/g and coercivity and magnetic remanence values close to zero. The cell viability of CC/IO nanocomposites ranged from 80 to 89%, demonstrating high safety for mammal. The CC/IO nanocomposites were considered to be potential superparamagenetic candidates for alternative medical applications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of Piezoelectric Phase on Electrical Properties of PDMS-Based Nanocomposites(2021-01-01) ;Kongjaiman, Patiparn ;Yunsamarn, PreedapornVittayakorn, WanwilaiIn this work, nanocomposite between polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and barium titanate (BT) are prepared in order to use as piezoelectric nanogenerator. Barium titanate phase with various amounts and shapes such as nanoparticles and nanowires are synthesized via appropriated methods. The PDMS and BT phases are homogeneously mixed and casted into 3 cm x 4 cm rectangle. Phase formation, chemical property and microstructure of these nanocomposites are identified via XRD, FTIR and SEM methods, respectively. Both frequency and temperature dependences of dielectric properties for all samples are measured by LCR meter. The piezoelectric properties of these nanocomposites are performed by study the generated output voltage and current after applying the mechanical force to the samples. From those results, it is concluded that the electrical properties of these BT/PDMS nanocomposites strongly depend on amounts and forms of piezoelectric filler. The orientation of polarization within the BT crystal shows an important role for piezoelectric properties of these nanocomposites.
