Item type:Publication, Ultrasound-chilling assisted annealing treatment to produce a lower glycemic index of white rice grains with different amylose content(2022-06-01) ;Kunyanee, Kannika ;Van Ngo, Tai ;Kusumawardani, SandraLungsakul, NaphatrapiWhite rice samples, Chai-Nat1 (CN1) and Jasmin rice (KDML105), were treated with the ultrasound-chilling (UC) and combined with annealing treatments (UC + ANN 45, UC + ANN50, and UC + ANN55). Their physicochemical properties and in vitro glycemic index of rice samples were analyzed. UC + ANN treatments presented pasting temperature, gelatinization temperature and crystallinity increased whereas the glycemic index of both rice samples was decreased as compared to its native. Especially, UC + ANN55 treated rice produced the lowest glycemic index and starch hydrolysis. Moreover, UC + ANN treated CN1 rice exhibited delayed gelatinization temperature, increased gelatinization enthalpy, and decreased glycemic index than KDML105 rice. In addition, Pearson's correlation presented that UC + ANN and amylose content had a highly negative correlation with the glycemic index at p < 0.0.1. The result exhibited that UC followed by ANN show an effective way to modify starch granules with delayed starch hydrolysis reduced glycemic index and properties depending on annealing temperature and rice cultivar. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Influence of reactive oxygen gas on sputtered-vanadium oxide films under post-annealing in vacuum(2021-01-01) ;Khlayboonme, S. TipawanThowladda, WarawootVanadium oxide thin films were deposited on glass substrates by O2 reactive-RF magnetron sputtering from a vanadium (V) target without substrate-heating. The percentages of O2 gas were 10%, 7.5%, 6.0%, 5.0% and 2.5%. The total gas flow rate (O2/Ar) was kept at 25 sccm. As-deposited films were experienced post-annealing process at different temperatures and times. The crystallinity and chemical bonding states of films were examined by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The condition in annealing to active crystallinity depended on an earlier composition of the films. As O2-gas percentages were 10% and 7.5%, after annealing, the as-deposited VxOy films were transformed into crystalline V2O5 films. With decreasing in O2 percentage to 5.0% and 2.5%, the films were transformed into V2O3 and VO films, respectively. The films deposited with 6.0% O2 were crystallized to VO2 with phase B after annealing with 500 °C 15 h. By applying a longer time to 30 h at the high temperature 500 °C in annealing, VO2 films revealed only phase M formation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Enhancing the thermoelectric properties of sputtered Sb2Te3 thick films via post-annealing treatment(2020-04-15) ;Junlabhut, Prasopporn ;Nuthongkum, Pilaipon ;Sakulkalavek, Aparporn ;Harnwunggmoung, AdulLimsuwan, PichetSb<inf>2</inf>Te<inf>3</inf> films of more than 10 μm in thickness were deposited on flexible polyimide substrates by heat treatment-assisted DC magnetron sputtering. The post-annealing parameters including the temperature (150–350 °C) and time (15–60 min) were varied to investigate the microstructure, chemical composition, porosity and thermoelectric properties of the thick films. X-ray diffraction showed that both the as-deposited and post-annealed films were polycrystalline with significant preferential growth along the (015) plane. The films showed slightly off-stoichiometric compositions after post-annealing treatment. Increasing the annealing temperature and annealing time led to an increase in crystalline size and a decrease in porosity of the thick films. This was related to grain growth, agglomeration and surface improvement. The electrical transport and thermoelectric properties including carrier concentration, carrier mobility, electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient were investigated using Hall effect measurements and a ZEM-3 apparatus. A maximum power factor of 1.7 mW/K2m was obtained following annealing at 350 °C for 30 min. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Ferromagnetism of manganese-aluminium alloyed with 0–3% carbon from direct induction melting and subsequent annealing(2020-01-01) ;Charoensuk, Thanida ;Saetang, Panissa ;Ruttanapun, Chesta ;Phrompet, ChaiwatPinitsoontorn, SupreeThe transformation from ε to τ phase is investigated in manganese-aluminium (Mn<inf>55</inf>Al<inf>45</inf>) alloyed by the induction melting. By annealing Mn<inf>55</inf>Al<inf>45</inf> at 450–550°C for 2 h, the ferromagnetic τ-MnAl is enhanced at the expense of ε phase. The largest coercivity of 1139 Oe and remanent magnetization of 3.71 emu/g are obtained after annealing at 550°C. The additions of 1 and 2% carbon affect the phase and magnetic properties of Mn<inf>55</inf>Al<inf>45</inf> but the 2 h annealing at 550°C still leads to the largest coercivity. Interestingly, substantial coercivity and magnetizations are directly obtained in (Mn<inf>55</inf>Al<inf>45</inf>)<inf>98</inf>C<inf>2</inf> and (Mn<inf>55</inf>Al<inf>45</inf>)<inf>97</inf>C<inf>3</inf> by the induction melting without further heat treatments. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effects of quenching process on the optical properties of thin film polymers(2019-07-01) ;Jumpar-Ngern, Jitrin ;Sompong, KhanisornWasapinyokul, KamolPolymer is a group of materials applied in several thin film electronic devices. A typical fabrication process of the material consists of coating it as a film onto a substrate by a wet process, followed by the baking and annealing the film to change its molecular structures, and hence its properties. In this study, we reported the effect of the quenching process, or the cooling down process after baking, on the optical transmittance of the film. Thin films of poly(methyl methacrylate), or PMMA, was coated on a substrate and then baked at different temperatures followed by either a quick or slow cool-down quenching process; before they were checked for their optical transmittances. The results showed that the film baked at a temperature slightly higher than the glass transition temperature of the polymer, followed by a slow cool-down quenching process would provide the transmittance apparently lower than those of the films baking and quenching at other conditions. We believe that this was because when the polymer was baked above such temperature, the polymer was in its glassy state. When it was slowly cooled down, the molecules had time to form crystalline structure, hence a lower optical transmittance. The result from this study indicated that the quenching process can be used to control the properties of a polymer film and hence should be carefully practiced. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The effects of dual modification with ultrasound and annealing treatments on the properties and glycemic index of the Thai glutinous rice cultivar ‘RD6’.(2019-01-01) ;Kunyanee, K.Luangsakul, N.Glutinous rice is a popular food and an important source of carbohydrate, especially in the North and North-Eastern areas of Thailand. However, glutinous rice can be considered unhealthy because it has a high glycemic index (GI=75-92), which makes it unsuitable for people suffering with type II diabetes. Therefore, a method of processing glutinous rice that reduces its GI could make it a more acceptable food and more suitable for diabetics. Ultrasound, which applies mechanical waves with a frequency above 16 kHz, and annealing (ANN), which is a hydrothermal treatment, have both been successfully used to modify starch. Ultrasound impacts starch granules and can change molecular structure and properties. ANN can reduce starch hydrolysis and improve its relative crystallinity, which affected its thermal properties. Therefore, the combination of ultrasound and ANN treatments were investigated to determine their effects on the glycemic index of the Thai glutinous rice cultivar ‘RD6’. Samples of ‘RD6’ were treated with ultrasound, at 100% amplitude, for 15 min followed by storage at 4oC for 24 h and then exposed to ANN at 45, 50 or 55oC. The samples were then evaluated for their pasting properties (pasting temperature, pasting viscosity, breakdown, final viscosity and setback), gelatinization properties, starch hydrolysis and glycemic index. All the pasting properties of the ‘RD6’ samples that treated with ultrasound and ultrasound plus ANN had significantly (p<0.05) increased levels of all compared to the untreated samples (control). These treatments also significantly (p<0.05) increased onset temperature and gelatinization enthalpy, particularly the ANN at the higher temperatures (50 and 55oC). In addition, ultrasound plus ANN significantly (p<0.05) decreased starch hydrolysis and promoted a decrease in their glycemic index from (76.78-77.62) as compared to the control (84.14) and ultrasound alone (80.71), but none of these treatments reduced glycemic index to below 70, which is ranked as high. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effects of Annealing Process on the Electrical Properties of MEMS Capacitive Microphone(2018-07-02) ;Jantawong, Jirawat ;Leepattarapongpan, Chana ;Chaowicharat, Ekalak ;Jeamsaksiri, WutthinanAustin, AnuIn this paper, the effects of annealing temperature after pre-bonding device wafer and cover wafer during wafer fusion bonding process on the electrical properties of MEMS-based capacitive microphone with 0.53 μm thick poly-Si membrane were investigated. By the annealing in N2 ambient (14 SLM) at 900°C for 30 min, the device exhibited capacitance of 2.0 pF with pull-in voltage of 12 V. The significantly improvement of electrical properties is related to the reducing of residual stress in poly-Si membrane to near-zero level by using suitable annealing condition. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Modification of optical properties of spin-coated TiO2 film by heat treatments(2017-01-01) ;Chunarom, Chutinat ;Yontrarak, Tanapat ;Wipopcharoenkul, PuttinanWasapinyokul, KamolIn this report, effects of heat treatment conditions on the transmittance of titanium dioxide, TiO<inf>2</inf>, films were examined. The colloidal solution of TiO<inf>2</inf> in two different solvents - isopropanol, IPA, and sulfuric acid, H<inf>2</inf>SO<inf>4</inf>, were deposited via a spin-coating method onto clean glass substrates. The films were subsequently annealed and cooled down, either quickly or slowly, before being measured for their optical transmittances in the visible region. Three points were noted: Firstly, when the films were quickly cooled down after annealed, their transmittance depended on their annealing temperature. In IPA and H<inf>2</inf>SO<inf>4</inf>, the transmittance decreased and increased, respectively, when the annealing temperature increased. Secondly, when the films were slowly cooled down after annealed, their transmittance seemed to be independent from the annealing temperature, where the films had roughly equal transmittance regardless of annealing temperature. Lastly, the TiO<inf>2</inf> films with H<inf>2</inf>SO<inf>4</inf> provided higher transmittance than those with IPA. All the three stated characteristics were the same for all wavelengths in the visible region. These results were believed to result from the dispersibility of the TiO<inf>2</inf> in each solvent and the cooling-down processes. Such results could be further developed to select a suitable heat treatment process for a spin-coated TiO<inf>2</inf> film with a desired optical transmittance. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Fabrications of three dimensional anodic aluminum oxide micro shapes(2012-05-01) ;Kasi, Jafar Khan ;Kasi, Ajab Khan ;Afzulpurkar, Nitin ;Hasan, MahadiPratontep, SirapatAnodic aluminum oxide (AAO) is one of attractive materials which are used for the fabrication of micro and nanostructures. This paper describes the fabrication of three dimensional (3D) microstructures with AAO nano porous membrane. A simple procedure has been adopted to develop microstructures using the same aluminum (Al) sample without any assistance of scaffold or molding process. Various shapes including micro conical tube, micro cone, and micro bowl structures have been fabricated. Those factors have also been analyzed which are affecting the shapes of microstructures like cracks, angle, and geometry. The fabricated 3D shapes have potential applications in drug delivery system. © 2012 American Scientific Publishers.
