Item type:Publication, Packet filtering circuits for smart phones(2012-12-01) ;Sato, Tomoaki ;Moungnoul, PhichetFukase, Masa AkiSecurity measures for smart phones are important. Anti-virus software for smart phones can be used and the process consumes CPU resources. The CPUs of them are powerless CPU for an embedded system and those operations consume battery power. In this paper, the authors propose packet filtering circuits for smart phones. The packet filtering circuits are a firewall. Using the firewall is a means to protect smart phones from computer viruses and unauthorized access. In addition, they are used to control the power consumption and to reduce of detecting units for unauthorized access. The features of the circuits are to achieve those functions without reconstructing circuits. The operations of the circuits are verified by gate-level simulations. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Delay time analysis of reconfigurable firewall unit(2011-12-01) ;Sato, Tomoaki ;Moungnoul, PhichetFukase, Masa AkiA firewall function is indispensable for mobile devices and it demands low-power operations. To realize this demand, the authors have developed a firewall unit with a reconfigurable device. The firewall unit needs a large amount of register for the timing adjustment of packets. Using the registers is the cause of power consumption. In this paper, to solve the problem of power consumption, the firewall unit has developed by using wave-pipelining technique and detailed delay time for the technique is analyzed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A packet classification's algorithm: Bitmap intersection lookup using cache(2010-05-28) ;Choorat, ThapanaKhunkitti, AkharinNow, internet is a very large size network. The internet is a packet switched network offers best-effort service, not guarantee packet that was sent. That has not enough for user's requirements. Router provide different qualities of service to different application such Visual Private Network (VPN), Quality of Service (QOS), Distribute Firewall. Each service needs router to determine packet belonging to different flows. Thus router needs mechanisms for that. Example admission control, resource reservation, per-flow queuing, all of mechanisms needs tool to distinguish packet belong to different flows, so packet classification become a very importance tool. Therefore, researchers have proposed variety of algorithms each type suitable for different application and have different advantage and disadvantage. In this paper propose packet classification's algorithm, algorithm uses cache concept to increase performance, called "Bitmap Intersection Lookup Using Cache". ©2010 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Firewall rules analysis(2006-12-01) ;Chomsiri, ThawatchaiPornavalai, ChotipatIn this paper, we propose a method to analyze the firewall policy or rule-set using Relational Algebra and Raining 2D-Box Model. It can discover all the anomalies in the firewall rule-set in the format that is usually used by many firewall products such as Cisco Access Control List, IPTABLES, IPCHAINS and Check Point Firewall-1. While the existing analyzing methods consider the anomalies between any two rules in the firewall rule-set, we consider more than two rules together at the same time to discover the anomaly. Therefore we can find all the hidden anomalies in the firewall rule-set. Results from analyzing can be used with the proposed rules-combination method presented in this paper, to minimize the firewall rule without changing the policy. Finally, we have developed an application based on the proposed analyzing method. This application could help administrator to analyze and modify a complex firewall policy with less error.
