Item type:Publication, A Gamification Approach to Information Visualization and Strategy Discovery - A Case of Thai Hotel Entrepreneur(2022-07-07) ;Srianomai, SakunaSavetpanuvong, PhannaphatrA rise in digital technology advancement has posed an abundance of information in the business world. Traditional reporting in small and medium enterprises is no longer adequate for making the right and timely decisions in strategic and operational management. Novel Business Intelligence (BI) tools provide an opportunity for business users to perform data analytics with dashboard multidimensional visualization. Data on 26,051 records in 2019 from a hotel business was acquired for this research. Business insights, which had not been discovered before by traditional reporting, were revealed regarding occupancy driving factors, customer behavior, accommodation preference, and channel efficiency. Two dashboards were developed with gamification design principles that allow business users to engage with hedonism during the data play for both strategic and tactical levels. Insights shed the light on users concerning actionable items on better campaign offering, hotel resource allocation optimization, and channel dependency balancing. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Smart coffee vending machine based on IoT concept(2020-08-01) ;Pongswatd, Sawai ;Smerpitak, KritThepmanee, TeerawatIn order to improve the effectiveness of franchise system, this paper describes how to utilize the Internet of Things (IoT) concept for upgrading a franchisor’s traditional coffee vending machine to be a smart coffee vending machine (SCVM) with remote monitoring and control capabilities. The IoT-based SCVM provides powerful web dashboard to monitor machine operation statuses, track ingredient and component availability, and adjust hot drink recipes. The proposed improvement can therefore help both franchisor and franchisee not only to ensure that how well the machine is operating, and how well the machine is stocked but also to plan that when a supply worker needs to pay a visit to the machine for refilling ingredients based on sales data, and when a maintenance worker needs to pay a visit to the machine for providing services based on technical data. The proposed technique uses an Arduino board to replace an existing machine controller and installs a Raspberry Pi module to perform as a gateway for data transmission between the SCVM and the Ubidots cloud server via Internet. The Node-RED engine running on the Raspberry Pi is utilized as the IoT platform to collect and process the technical and sales data of the SCVM that dispenses three kinds of hot drinks. Based on user login system, the franchisor is allowed to remotely monitor the interested parameters of all SCVMs on the created dashboard for ensuring product availability as well as to remotely control the ratios of instant coffee/cocoa powder and hot water for ensuring product quality, whereas each franchisee is allowed to remotely monitor the operation status and daily sales detail for his approved machines only. Test results from data simulations confirm that the upgraded SCVM and created dashboard subpages function correctly in accordance with the franchisor’s requirements. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Real-time dashboard monitoring and alerting system for compressed air supply in rubber compound manufacturer(2020-01-01) ;Thepmanee, Teerawat ;Ngamsangiam, Pornprasert ;Sittigorn, JirasakPongswatd, SawaiTo minimize unexpected disruptions resulting from air supply problems in manufacturing production, a continuous monitoring of air pressures is crucial for predicting and preventing significant issues that may arise. This paper proposes a technique to build a real-time dashboard monitoring and alerting system for improving an availability of existing compressed air supply in a rubber compound manufacturer in Thailand. Flow and pressure transmitters as well as motorized ball valves are installed in the ma-jor supply lines of air piping system. In addition, a 3-phase power and energy meter is also installed to measure key electrical parameters of two main air compressors. The proposed technique is based on the use of cost-effective Node-RED web application not only to monitor volumetric flow rate, air pressure values, valve statuses, input/output module statuses, and energy-related parameters on the created dashboard in real time but also to alert plant personnel to pressure readings that fall outside an acceptable range via the LINE Notify application. There are three different notification patterns depending on how long is the pressure reading value out of the acceptable range. Moreover, the on/off status of all ball valves can also be remotely set on the dashboard subpages. Experimental results verify that the improved system can be utilized to assist plant personnel in trou-bleshooting and solving the problems with compressed air supply.
