    An electromagnetically power transmission system to transmit power at a high power density and with a high efficiency under consideration of EMC aspects is proposed. Product requirements like size and weight are taken into account. The system uses the resonance wave coupling and an impedance adaption for multi-stage conversion is implemented to optimize efficiency and impedance matching. The transferred power is up to 180 W at a frequency of 6.78 MHz with a distance between 30 mm and 80 mm. The results show that an efficiency up to 88% can be achieved. The transmitted power density reaches up to 14 W/cm2. It is shown that due to the evanescent wave resonance coupling the system emits only very little radiation and thus is capable to keep EMC/EMF regulations. Wireless power transfer applications such as electric vehicle charging and wireless power drive for LED lighting through a wall are demonstrated.

    Practical design of a passive EMI filter for reduction of EMI generation
    (2015-01-01)
    Jiraprasertwong, J.
    ;
    Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) usually generated by a power converter can disturb or damage nearby sensitive electrical/electronic devices/equipment. The use of EMI filter inserted in the considered system is a classical technique for EMI reduction. In order to spend less time and have low cost, this paper proposes a user interface for practical EMI filter design. This interface is easy to use and able to rapidly find out the filter component values. The principle of this design is based on calculation from electromagnetic noises measured by spectrum analyzer, then the algorithm tries to find the cut-off frequency of the filter in order to obtain the attenuated noises respecting to an applied Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard. The performance of this practical EMI filter design is guaranteed by the real EMI emission measurement. Moreover, this user interface can be useful and used for other power converters, switching devices or EMI sources. Finally, it will reduce time consuming and cost when performing EMC testing in the real work.

    Educational laboratory experiments on EMC in power electronics
    (2014-07-01)
    Tarateeraseth, Vuttipon
    To enhance a student's understanding of the general mechanisms and controlling principles of radiated and conducted emissions in power electronics, the educational laboratory experiments on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in power electronics are proposed. A switched-mode power supply (SMPS) is chosen as an example of electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise source. For learning concepts, key factors of both conducted and radiated EMI generation, including the controlling EMI principles of SMPS, are studied. There are five laboratory assignments and three laboratory assignments covering the topics of conducted and radiated emissions and suppressions, respectively. Proposed laboratory experiments are not only user friendly, but also strongly enrich design concepts of power electronic applications for EMC compliance to electrical students and engineers.

    In this paper, a technique to improve the EMI reduction performance of common-mode (CM) inductors used in EMI filter circuit is proposed. By adding the extra-winding at the ground line, the conventional CM inductor can improve the CM EMI reduction performance effectively. The dot polarity of extra-winding is divided into two cases: added up or subtracted the H-field inside the core of CM Inductor. The EMI redactor performance of proposed concept is verified by the experiments. From the experimental results, it shows the improvement of CM EMI reduction performance of H-field added comparing to the conventional and H-field subtracted CM inductors.

    This paper proposes how to analyze and design the Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN). The details are described component characteristics and how to design air coil inductors in single and multi layers based on a high self resonant frequency response concept. According to the CISPR 16-1 standard, the stabilized impedance 50 Ω of LISN at frequency range 150 kHz to 30 MHz is proved by simulation and experimental results. The proposed LISN is successful design the low cost by compare with commercial LISN. Finally, the performance of the proposed LISN is achieved comparing to CISPR standard and also with commercial LISN. © 2007 IEEE.

    The analysis and design of Line Impedance Stabilization Network (LISN) is presented. The details will be described how to design and stabilize the impedance of LISN at frequency range 150 kHz to 30 MHz following CISPR 16-1 standard. The impedance response of passive components: resistor, inductor and capacitor will be measured to identify the component parasitic. The comparison of simulated and measured result will be done and analyzed. The low cost and good impedance of the response are achieved, for in-house test, comparing to CISPR standard and also with commercial LISN.

    In this paper, the effect of an electric field on the growth of rice plants is studied. The research is focused on an electric field. The comparison is done under the conditions with electric field at 28.5 kV/m and without electric field. The rice plants are experimented with under the condition of the electric field. Rice is laid transversely and horizontally, respectively. The results with the electric field are compared to those without electric field. It is found that the rice plant growth with electric field has a high growth rate of the height of stems and the length of roots more so than in the case without the electric field.

    The improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) for single-stage single-switch AC/DC Power Factor Correction (S4PFC) by ripple-steering technique is presented. The suitable coupled inductor design, which used for steering the ripple that applied for single-stage single-switch AC/DC power factor correction, is fulfilled to gain a significantly conducted EMI reduction. The performance of modified boost inductor is shown by the implemented and discussed. Finally, the comparison between "modified boost inductor" and conventional "LC" filter in the EMI point of view is verified and experimented.
