In Thailand, the use of biomass for electricity generation has been implemented with incineration technology for many years. However, recent reports indicate that electricity demand is still high and biomass power plant is one of the key factors for electricity management. The major purpose of this research paper is to analyze the energy, economic and environmental features of biomass power plant for the national sustainable development strategy. An existing 9.9 MW biomass power plant located in Suphanburi is selected as the case study to assess thermal combustion for electricity generation. The in-house operations of biomass-based power plant and the process flow of energy in terms of electricity generation using agricultural wastes and forestry residues are provided. Different expenses like capital cost, processing cost, and transportation cost and the major revenue from the sale of electricity are taken into consideration. Five environmental factors (air, sound, water, ash, and transportation) of biomass power plant for sustainability are investigated. Findings from this research project indicate that incineration is a suitable technology for biomass-based electricity generation with considerable profit for all stakeholders.

This paper presents energy, economic, and environmental analysis of the PV Water Pump. A case study of the tapioca drip irrigation system in Kamphaeng Phet Province in Thailand is provided. The conditions of this tapiocafield are 1) no electricity and 2) thefield owners are not willing to pay for the electricity cost; therefore, it is crucial to decide whether PV connected with α centrifugal pump is suitable for tapioca drip irrigation system. Each parameter in this 3E analysis has been evaluated to preset the most suitable PV pumping system.

This paper presents Energy, Economic, and Environmental (3E) analysis of Zero Energy Consumption Building (ZECB) concept. A case study of Thai mediation house which constructed following ZECB concept is provided. The conditions of this off-grid PV house are daily load demand is approximately 4.605 kWh and this house must be able to use the energy for 2 days without the sunlight. Each parameter in 3E analysis is used to evaluate the possibility of ZECB.

A solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) is an electrochemical technology used for hydrogen production via a steam electrolysis reaction. Because the existing SOEC models are complicated, the aim of this study is to develop a user-friendly SOEC model in a flowsheet simulator (Aspen Plus). The developed model is used to perform a parametric analysis to investigate the effects of key process parameters, i.e., operating temperature, current density, steam concentration, sweep gas type and number of cells, on the SOEC performance. The simulation results show that the voltage and the overall overpotential decrease as the cell temperature increases, whereas the opposite trends are observed when the current density increases. From the energy and exergy analyses, the total energy demand slightly increases with cell temperature, whereas the electrical energy demand decreases. Based on an operating temperature of 1273 K when the SOEC uses oxygen as the sweep gas, the highest energy and exergetic efficiencies of 78.45% and 92.20% are achieved at a current density of 2500 A m−2 and at a steam concentration of 90% in a 500-cell stack.
