Item type:Publication, Self-interference along boundaries between positive and negative refractive index media for 3D displays(2020-01-01) ;Daibo, Masahiro ;Tabuchi, TomoyaNegative index media have a phase velocity opposite to that of the pointing vector. Therefore, if media having the same absolute value of positive and negative refractive indices are alternately arranged, standing waves are generated along the boundaries of the media because these wavelengths are the same and the directions are opposite. We propose a method of generating a stationary interference fringe that is caused by self-interference with irradiating light from a direction parallel to the positive and negative media boundaries. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The wavelength sensor using optical directional coupler(2005-12-01) ;Jaturantruengsri, S. ;Sae-tang, K.Somkuarnpanit, S.This paper proposes a wavelength sensor based on the optical directional coupler. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) is used to calculate of the light intensity propagating thorough the structure, and to find the appropriate dimensions of the structure. The structure with the size of 0.4μm×0. 4μm, and particular lengths would provide the coupling efficiency varying linearly with wavelengths. Thus, the structure could be employed as the wavelength sensor for the wavelength in a range between 1.2μm and 1.6μm. © 2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The maximum transmission rate for the silicon-based racetrack microresonator(2005-12-01) ;Somkuarnpanit, S. ;Khuntaweetep, S.Sae-Tang, K.This paper determines the possibly maximum rate for the optical signal transmitting thorough the racetrack resonator devices. The method of finite-difference time-domain was employed to determine how an optical impulse getting through the device. We observe that the signal requires a certain number of round-trips to couple the signal to the throughput, and causes the delay of the pulse outputting from the device. This indicates that the possible pulse width is in a range of picoseconds, which corresponding to the maximum transmission rate of over a hundred gigabits per second. © 2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The prediction of the maximum FSR and minimum HPBW for the silicon based ring and racetrack microresonators(2005-12-01) ;Somkuarnpanit, S. ;Koosirivanichakorn, P.Khuntaweetep, S.This paper determines the maximum free spectral range (FSR) and the minimum half power bandwidth (HPBW) of the ring and racetrack resonators based on silicon substrate using FDTD. At the optimum cross-section that provides the compromised efficiency, the relationships between HPB W against the coupling efficiency and FSR, against the racetrack round trip have been obtained. The relationships would be utilized to determine the possibly maximum FSR of 60nm and the minimum HPBW of 5nm, or highest quality factor for the ring microresonator with 1μm radius. © 2005 IEEE.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Designing rectangular slot loop antenna for WLAN application(2005-01-01) ;Anantrasirichai, N. ;Chanoodhorm, S. ;Nakasuwan, J. ;Rakluea, P.Wakabayashi, T.This paper presents the design of rectangular microstrip slot loop antenna that competently achieves dual frequency operation by using a microstrip feed line. This antenna is designed at the resonance frequency 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz thereby covering the required frequency-bandwidth of 2.4-2.4836 GHz and 5.15-5.35 GHz, which are widely used in Wireless LAN (WLAN). The characteristics of antennas are proposed and analyzed for instance input impedance, Sn parameter and far field radiation patterns. The antenna is analyzed by Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method which can predict and analysis of the electromagnetic responses of complex problems. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A design of silicon-based racetrack microcavity resonator using FDTD(2002-12-01) ;Somkuarnpanit, S.; Koosirivanichakorn, P.This paper proposes a design of the racetrack microcavity resonator based on silicon substrate. The optimized dimensions of the structure were found by FDTD simulation. The characteristics were also found by the method, and further compared with another model of mode coupling theory. The optimized dimensions of straight guide at wavelength 1.55 μm are thickness and width of 0.4 μm. The curve guide provides the maximum at 1μm whereas the resonating section requires small coupling section of about 3 μm. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A novel wavelength sensor using a structure of optical directional coupler(2002-12-01) ;Sae-Tang, K. ;Somkuarnpanit, S.Khuntaweetep, S.This paper proposes a wavelength sensor based on the optical directional coupler. The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) is used in analysis of the field intensity of the light propagating thorough the structure. The device with the width of 0.4 μm and the thickness of 0.4 μm, corresponding with the coupling length of 40μm, would provide the linear relationship between the coupling efficiency against the wavelength. The device can be employed to sense the wavelength in a range between 1.5 μm and 1.6 μ, with continuous resolutions. The wide wavelength could be also done by paralleling the light to a number of wavelength-sensing modules with particularly required bands. Therefore, the proposed structure could be employed as the wavelength sensing for most optical communications, optoelectronics and laser applications.
