Item type:Publication, Development of the processing procedure for palm fiber with communities for industrial handmade product creation(2021-05-10) ;Egwutvongsa, Songwut ;Setvisat, SomchaiPirumgran, ThanatThis research used a mixed-methods approach to focus on the properties and satisfaction assessment of effectiveness for palm fibers in the Khonsan Sub-District community group in Chaiyaphum province with a total of 113 people. In addition, the study used a 5-point rating scale which had a Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient value at the level of 0.97, in addition to two-way ANOVA. The study presented testing results by ordering from coconuts, palms, betel nuts, and tans with the fiber tensile ratings of 67.45 N, 57.19 N, 56.75 N, 52.49 N, and fiber tensile ratings of 6.80%, 7.30%, 7.12%, and 6.25%, respectively. In this case, the betel nut fibers and tan fibers showed durability to wet washing and the dry period as the most common way. Thus, the satisfaction assessment of tan fibers was at the most satisfactory level, (Mean=4.49, S.D. =0.57), followed by the coconut fibers at the excellent level, (Mean = 4.47, S.D. =0.56) and the betel nut fibers at the moderate level, (Mean=3.35, S.D. =0.71). Levene’s test showed that p was equal to 0.00, indicating that the factors of type and properties of palm fibers were at a varied level with statistical significance. Similarly, the fiber characteristics and properties of palm fibers for each type had an F value equal to 11.45 and Sig. equal to 0.00. In addition, it was found that there was at least one pair different from other pairs, such as coconut fibers and tan fibers. Consequently, the research with community participation showed that it appeared to confirm the balance between the effectiveness of materials, labor skills, human labor, and the stabilization of life. As a result, it affected the satisfaction at the excellent level for people in the development communities (Mean=4.10, S.D. =0.78). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Influence Factors on Industrial Handmade Products Designed from Sugar Palm Fibers(2021-05-01)Egwutvongsa, SongwutThe objective of this research was to study the results of a fibers transformation procedure from sugar palm leaves into product designs. The population group included the customer group that visited the exhibition at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy in Nakorn Nayok province, Thailand with a total of 1,398 people, and the Multistage Random Sampling with 5-point Rating Scale questionnaires was used in this research. Additionally, the Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient value was analyzed for the Variance at the level of 0.85 in One-Way or Single-Factor ANOVA. In this case, it was found that the customers had the satisfaction with the products based on five attributes at the most suitable level, (Mean = 4.044, S.D. = 0.837), and in the comparative pairs, there were the differences with the significance of .05, except for the unique factors and the suitable applied factors having strong relationships and the significant connections to one another. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of pectin particles and cotton fibers on properties of thermoplastic cassava starch composites(2016-03-01) ;Prachayawarakorn, JutaratPattanasin, WorawanDue to poor mechanical properties and high water uptake of thermoplastic starch (TPS), this research focused on property improvement of thermoplastic cassava starch (TPCS) using natural compatible polymers, i.e. pectin particles and cotton fibers. Different TPCS composites, reinforced by the pectin particles and/or the cotton fibers, were compounded and shaped using an internal mixer and a compression molding machine, respectively. It was found from infrared (IR) spectra that the peak position of O-H stretching of the TPCS polymer clearly shifted to lower wavenumber by the addition of the pectin particles and/or the cotton fibers. Moreover, the significant increase of stress at maximum load and Young’s modulus of the TPCS/pectin particle and the TPCS/cotton fiber composites was observed. The drop of water uptake was also found when the cotton fibers were incorporated into the TPCS matrix with/without pectin particles. In addition, X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Thermogravimetric Analysis were used to characterize different TPCS composites. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Dyeing properties of Bombyx mori silks grafted by 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA)(2010-10-01) ;Prachayawarakorn, J.Khanchaiyapoom, K.Graft copolymerization technique was selected to improve properties of Bombyx mori silks. The silks were degummed and grafted by 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), resulting in different graft yields of the degummed silks. It was found that thermal decomposition temperature and wear strength of the silks grafted by HEMA were clearly improved. In addition, dyeing properties of the degummed and HEMA-grafted silks were investigated by using different natural dyes, i. e. coconut shell (Cocos nucifera), pandanus (Pandanus odorus) and Siamese cassia (Cassia siamea) and also synthetic dyestuff, i. e. acid dye. When dyeability and colorfastness properties were investigated, it was observed that higher graft yield of the HEMA-grafted silks exhibited greater dye uptake for all of the applied dyes. Besides, fastness properties to washing, perspiration, light and rubbing of the degummed and HEMA-grafted silks were examined. © 2010 The Korean Fiber Society and Springer Netherlands. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Physical, chemical, and dyeing properties of Bombyx mori silks grafted by 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and methyl methacrylate(2007-11-05) ;Prachayawarakorn, J.Boonsawat, K.To obtain silk weight gain and to improve silk properties, Bombyx mori silks were grafted with either 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) or methyl methacrylate (MMA). The moisture regain of the HEMA-grafted and MMA-grafted silks depended on the hydrophilicity of the used monomers. The acid and alkaline resistances of the HEMA-grafted and MMA-grafted silks were clearly improved. Both commercial synthetic dyes, that is, acid and reactive dyes, and a natural dye extracted from turmeric, with potassium aluminum sulfate as a mordant, were used in this study. The results suggested that the dye uptake increased in the presence of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) or poly(methyl methacrylate) in the silk fibroin structures when acid and curcumin dyes were used. The washfastness level of the HEMA-grafted silk dyed by acid and reactive dyes was similar to that of the degummed silk. However, the colorfastness to washing of the MMA-grafted silk dyed by an acid dye was improved when the polymer add-on concentration was 65%. In addition, the washfastness for both grafted silks was improved when they were dyed with natural curcumin dyestuff. The acid and alkaline perspiration fastness properties remained unchanged for the HEMA-grafted and MMA-grafted silks when acid, reactive, and curcumin dyes were applied. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
