Item type:Publication, Design of DC/AC Unidirectional Inverter Based on DSP with Second-Order Switching Sequence Control in Photovoltaic DC Nano-Grids(2025-01-01) ;Bi, ChenxingJiriwibhakorn, SomchatConventional inverters predominantly utilize Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) control, operating in an intermediate state between the averaged and actual switching models. However, this approach often results in suboptimal output power quality and limited dynamic performance, which can compromise the operational stability of AC load systems. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a second-order Switching Sequence Control (SSC) strategy based on sliding mode theory, offering discrete-time control with enhanced robustness and precision. A comprehensive mathematical model of a single-phase LC inverter is developed and discretized. The SSC control algorithm is implemented using a TMS320F28335 Digital Signal Processor (DSP), with code generated via MATLAB/Simulink to streamline development and ensure real-time execution. Extensive simulations under various conditions demonstrate that the proposed inverter achieves excellent tracking accuracy, strong dynamic response, and reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is only 0.48%. Compared with conventional PWM, Selective Harmonic Elimination (SHE), and FPGA-based control methods, the SSC strategy significantly improves waveform fidelity and transient performance. These results confirm its suitability for high-performance applications in photovoltaic DC nanogrids, smart energy systems, and critical load support scenarios. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Distributed frequency suppression method using inverter for photovoltaic power generation(2019-07-01) ;Kato, Koki ;Iwane, Yuji ;Horie, Shunsuke ;Goda, TadahiroYukita, KazutoIn this paper, the frequency variation suppression method for dispersed photovoltaic power generation (PV) is proposed. The variation of system frequency can occur due to the shortage of power generator adjustment under the massive installation of PV. In addition, the PV which is not equipped with frequency control results in the system frequency change. To handle this problem, a frequency control method by giving generator constants to distributed PVs is presented. Since, the distributed PVs cannot exchange information such as power generation amount and solar radiation amount etc., only the capacity of distributed PV is used. As a result, the generator constants of each PV can be calculated, and the frequency control can be performed. Study results confirm that the power generation output of PV which changes momentarily can be supplemented by giving the generator constants to distributed PVs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of a full-bridge inverter for induction heating using asymmetrical phase-shift control under ZVS and NON-ZVS operation(2007-12-01) ;Yongyuth, N. ;Viriya, P.Matsuse, K.This paper presents a detailed analysis of circuit operation under ZVS and NON-ZVS switching conditions in a high-frequency full-bridge inverter for induction heating, using the principle of asymmetrical phase-shift control over a wide control range both in positive and negative directions. A variety of modes of circuit operation with the voltage and current equations during phase-shift power control under the operating conditions of ZVS and NON-ZVS are analyzed as a first step and the output voltage and current waveforms are obtained by MATLAB program. These waveforms will be analyzed by Fourier analysis which can lead further to the calculation of ac output power P<inf>o</inf>, dc input power P<inf>d</inf>, and hence the conversion efficiency η of the full-bridge inverter. The analysis results shows that the control ranges of ac output power P<inf>o</inf> and dc input power P<inf>d</inf> are limited by the occurrence of NON-ZVS operating condition, which changes according to the switching frequency f<inf>s</inf>. © 2007 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Influence of PWM characteristics on the core losses due to harmonic voltages in PWM fed induction motors(2000-01-01) ;Khomfoi, S. ;Kinnares, V.Viriya, P.The paper focuses on mechanisms of harmonic core losses due to PWM characteristics. The influence of PWM characteristics such as switching frequency, modulation depth and PWM strategy on core losses has been examined. The investigation into harmonic core losses based on no-load input power measurement with minimized rotor copper loss and rotational loss has been made. The experimental results show that the increment of core losses due to PWM harmonic voltages is significant compared to a sinusoidal supply and the modulation depth has significant effect on machine core losses.
