Item type:Publication, Studies of concentration dependence of the fluorescent quantum yield from rhodamine 6G and Au–Pd core–shell nanorods, using a response surface methodology(2017-01-01) ;Rammarat, Ekkachai ;Locharoenrat, Kitsakorn ;Yindeesuk, WitoonDamrongsak, PattareeyaWe have applied a response surface approach to study the fluorescence quantum yield (FQY) of rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) mixed with Au–Pd core–shell nanorods (Au–Pd NRs). The FQYs have been measured for the Rh6G concentrations varying from 3.53×10–7 to 1.70×10–6 mol/L and the concentrations of Au–Pd NRs from 7.06×10–6 to 1.36×10–4 mol/L. Our experimental results testify that the FQY depends notably on the proportions of Rh6G and Au–Pd NRs. A specific relationship between the FQY and the concentrations has also been confirmed by a response surface plot. It is found that the discrepancy between the experiment and the calculations is less than 2%. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Growth and characterization of Ga/F co-doped ZnO nanorods/nanodisks via hydrothermal process(2016-12-01) ;Chongsri, Krisana ;Sinornate, Wuttichai ;Boonyarattanakalin, KanokthipPecharapa, WisanuGa/F co-doped ZnO nanorods/nanodisks (GFZO) were synthesized using a hydrothermal process by varying the Ga doping levels (1-5 wt.%) and F doping levels (1-5 wt.%). Zinc nitrate, gallium nitrate hydrate and ammonium fluoride were chosen as starting precursors for Zn, Ga and F sources, respectively. The nanorod growth was initiated by zinc oxide seeding film fabricated by spin coating on glass substrate using zinc acetate precursor and annealed at 500°C for 2 h. Effect of different dopant concentrations on morphologies, structural, and optical properties of the samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), respectively. The results of Ga/F codoped ZnO (GFZO) were compared to the single doped specimens including Ga:ZnO (GZO) and F:ZnO (FZO) samples, and bare ZnO sample. The results suggest that content of either Ga or F dopant has high influence on relevant properties of as-synthesized nanorods/nanodisks. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sodium polystyrene sulfonate template assisted hydrothermal synthesis of hydroxyapatite nanorods(2016-09-01) ;Chaopanich, PakviparSiriphannon, PunnamaHydroxyapatite nanoparticles (nHAp) have been synthesized by benign hydrothermal reaction from the aqueous mixture of Ca(NO<inf>3</inf>)<inf>2</inf>·4H<inf>2</inf>O and (NH<inf>4</inf>)<inf>2</inf>HPO<inf>4</inf> solutions in the presence of non-toxic sodium polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) template. The pH of starting precursors has been adjusted to 10.5 before hydrothermal treatment at 100°C for 1, 2 and 3 h. The added PSS template generates the largely negative surface of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) precursor, resulting in minimization of precursor agglomeration and promoting the hydrothermal growth of nHAp along preferential c-axis as rod-shaped crystals. The crystallite sizes along 002-plane of nHAp synthesized with and without PSS template are 47.1 and 29.5 nm, respectively. With longer hydrothermal treatment time, larger crystallite size of nHAp is obtained. In vitro cytotoxicity of the synthesized nHAp has been evaluated by MTT assay using African green monkey kidney fibroblast cells, in which the nHAp exhibits low cytotoxicity. Antibacterial activities of the synthesized nHAp against S.aureus and E.coli have been tested. Due to the presence of largely negative surface, the nHAp could inhibit only the grampositive S.aureus, creating a clear zone of about 9.5 mm. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Plasmonic properties of gold-palladium core-shell nanorods(2015-07-03) ;Locharoenrat, KitsakornDamrongsak, PattareeyaWe focus on the plasmonic properties of palladium-coated gold nanorods. Two characteristic plasmon bands of those nanorods have been detected in the optical absorption. One of them, which is located at about 525 nm, is associated with electron oscillations along the transverse direction. This band does not depend on the palladium-shell thickness and the dielectric susceptibility of the surrounding medium. The other band, at about 800-900 nm, is associated with electron oscillations along the longitudinal direction. It exhibits a clear shift when the palladium-shell thickness and the dielectric surrounding are changed. Our results point to a novel possible way for tuning photo-catalytic ability of the nanorods and their possible use in biological/chemical sensors.
