Item type:Publication, Wind Turbine Emulator for Wind Power Generation System(2022-05-01); ;Ruengkittrakarn, S.This paper proposes the wind turbine emulator for wind power generation systems. The focus is on simulation of the operation of wind turbines at different wind speeds to test the capacity and efficiency of generating three-phase electricity. The wind turbine emulator consists of a simulation program and a mechanical part. To simulate the power generation system of wind turbines, researchers use a 400-watt permanent magnet synchronous generator wind turbine connected to a 400-watt servo motor with a built-in absolute encoder and controlled by a servo driver. The motor's torque is controlled by data from mathematical equations in the MATLAB model.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Prioritization of Wind Energy Data with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP)(2021-12-01); Kiatcharoenpol, TossapolWind energy potential is the main data to making decision for green energy projects in resident areas. The decision makers generally prioritize wind energy of alternative areas with data of wind power that are hard collected. In this study, the AHP method is introduced to prioritize wind energy of alternative areas with data of average wind velocity generally receiving from the secondary data sources. With the example of 13 alternative areas in the south of Thailand, the data of average wind velocity can be used to construct the AHP pairwise comparison matrix. Finally, the priority values of these 13 alternative areas are calculated with C.R. = 0.1157 and the wind energy priority of alternative areas is prioritized. The priority results with the data of average wind velocity are really similar to the priority results with the data of wind power1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Wind energy analysis in the coastal region of bangladesh(2021-09-01) ;Islam, Khandaker Dahirul ;Theppaya, Thanansak ;Ali, Fida ;Waewsak, JompobSuepa, TanitaDiversifying the energy mix of Bangladesh is becoming indispensable not only to improve its energy security, but also for a more sustainable economic development. This study focused on mapping the wind potential of southern coastal areas of Bangladesh to estimate the wind energy potential, along with the reduction in carbon emissions due to wind energy. Analysis of the carbon footprint was based on the annual energy production (AEP) from the selected low-wind turbine generators (WTGs). The time series-measured and-predicted wind data were incorporated with the high-resolution mesoscale and microscale wind re-source mapping technique at 60, 80, and 100 m above ground level (AGL). Coupling mesoscale and microscale modeling provided reliable mapping results for the commercially exploitable wind resource and was verified by ground-based wind measurement. The results revealed that, among the selected areas, two sites named Charfashion and Monpura have a promising annual mean wind speed of 7.3 m/s at 100 m AGL for energy generation. Different WTGs with ranges of 1–3.3 MW were used to estimate the wind energy generation capacity at different sites in the study area. A WTG with a 1 MW wind energy generation capacity installed at 60 m AGL in the selected site has the potential to produce 2.79 GWh/year of clean energy, reducing 1781.689 tons of CO<inf>2</inf> per year, whereas a 3.3 MW WTG at 80 m AGL can produce 18.99 GWh/year of energy, reducing 12,098.54 tons of CO<inf>2</inf> per year, and a 1.6 MW WTG at 100 m AGL produces 11.04 GWh/year of energy, cutting 7035.028 tons of CO<inf>2</inf> per year. With its reliable scientific and time-tested wind energy estimation method, this research is very important for the development of wind energy in the southern coastal areas of Bangladesh to meet the increasing energy demands through initiating the development of renewable energy to improve the energy security and reduce the carbon emissions of the country. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis and investigation of skew effect on behavior and performance of a small scale three-phase self-excited induction generator(2011-09-12) ;Sawetsakulanond, BudhaponThis paper presents analysis and investigation of the skew effect on behavior and performance of a three-phase, 220/380V, 8.7/5.0A, ?/Y connected, 4 poles, 2.2kW self-excited induction generator (SEIG) with different angles rotor skewing. A 2D finite element analysis (2D-FEA) is used to consider core loss, flux density and circuit parameters. Analysis of excitation capacitor values for the SEIG based on a steady-state equivalent circuit model including rotor skew effect is given. Skewed rotor slots with angle of 0° (non-skew), 5° and 10° for the SEIGs are employed. Testing and performance comparisons under steady-state operation with a pure resistive load have been conducted. Obtained results can be guidelines and recommendations for development of effective wind induction generators. © 2011 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design, analysis, and construction of a small scale self-excited induction generator for a wind energy application(2010-01-01) ;Sawetsakulanond, B.This paper proposes the design, analysis, and construction of a three phase, 0.75 kW, 220/380 V, 3.4/2.0 A, Δ/. Y connected, 4 poles, SEIG (self-excited induction generator) based on empirical rules. The designed SEIG offers improved high efficiency and power quality. The design takes into consideration a skew effect and power quality. A 2D-FEA (2 dimension finite element analysis) is used to consider core loss, flux density and circuit parameters of the designed SEIG. The designed SEIG has been tested and compared with a standard SEIG under various operating conditions in terms of efficiency and power quality. Consideration of capacitance for the SEIG based on steady-state equivalent circuit model and a power flow diagram is also given. Research results can be guidelines and recommendations for development of small wind induction generators for effective electricity generation. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
