Item type:Item, An investigation on a trachea air flow pattern in an intubated patient: Airway edema case(2017-12-19) ;Sanpanich, A. ;Masomtob, M. ;Phasukkit, P. ;Kajornpredanon, Y.Daochai, S.In a respiratory failure patient, an artificial ventilation is commonly performed by using a mechanical ventilator particularly in an ICU ward. On such a case, an endotracheal tube (ETT) must be inserted into patient's airway and following by a balloon cuff blowing in order to fix and act as a sealed artificial airway for an artificial ventilation. However, those implementations adversely affect to tracheal tissue-epithelial layer and probably damaging a larynx and vocal cord zone. After a ventilator weaning and an extubating process, some patients always suffering with a larynx or tracheal edema symptom or postextubation stridor (PES) in which patient airway is narrowed or swelling due to a long term pressurization by the ETT balloon cuff. This mainly causes a difficulty in a spontaneous breathing. In general, a cuff leak test is a common medical maneuver used in order to predict a larynx or tracheal edema possibility after ETT was removed. Air volume different between an inspired volume (Vtì) and an expired volume (Vie) normally should be higher than 100 mL or 10%. In this paper, we propose an investigation of an airflow pattern on an intubated patient in the cuff leak test process in order to understand and support a prediction of the tracheal edema before perform an ETT extubation. The study was performed in an intubated trachea by using a simulation of an airflow pattern, air volume prediction in a normal intubated case and during cuff leak test process with no edema and edema case. Although, this simulation was intently implemented in a simple intubated trachea model, however the obtain results imply us a practical information and will be used as a basic implementation for a further study, especially in case of variety in the ETT intubation or cuff less ventilation even more complication case in the near future. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Independent component analysis: An application for muscular contraction classification(2007-12-01) ;Daochai, S. ;Sueaseenak, D. ;Chanwimalueang, T. ;Laoopugsin, N.Pintavirooj, C.We develop a multi-channel electromyogram acquisition system using PSOC microcontroller to aquire multichannel EMG signals. An array of 4 x 4 surface electrodes is used to record the EMG signal. B-spline interpolation technique has been utilized to map the EMG signal on the muscle surface. The topological mapping of the EMG is then analyzed to classify the pattern of muscle contraction. The proposed system was successfully demonstrated to record EMG data and its surface mapping. The muscular contraction classification of mapping using independent component analysis demonstrates promising results. ©2007 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, White blood cell classification based on the combination of eigen cell and parametric feature detection(2006-12-01) ;Yampri, P. ;Pintavirooj, C. ;Daochai, S.Teartulakarn, S.Numbers of white blood cells in different classes help doctors to diagnose patients. A technique for automating the differential count of white blood cell is presented. The proposed system takes an input, color image of stained peripheral blood smears. The process in general involves segmentation, feature extraction and classification. In this paper, features extracted from the segmented cell are motivated by the concept of the wellknown Eigen face which is performed on the pre-classified which blood cell based on parametric feature detection. The derived Eigen value and Eigen vector contributes to the important feature in the classification process. The results presented here are based on trials conducted with normal cells. For training the classifiers, a library set of 50 patterns is used. The tested data consists of 50 samples and produced correct classification rate close to 92 % © 2006 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Ultrasonic diffraction tomography: The experimental result(2005-12-01) ;Pintavirooj, C. ;Jaruwongrungsee, K. ;Withayachumnankul, W. ;Hamamoto, K.Daochai, S.Diffraction tomography is a technique for imaging with acoustic fields. It takes advantage of the linearization process of the non-linear wave equation describing wave propagation in heterogeneous media. When the scattering effect is weak, one can invoke the Born or Rytov approximation and thus derive the generalized Fourier Slice Theorem to reconstruct the cross-section of the insonified object. Although diffraction tomography is a promising technology for medical application as it provides a quantitative ultrasonic image, its realization toward medical use is still far-to-go, this may be due to the complexity of the hardware involved. In this research we investigate a potential use of diffraction tomography for medical application by using a delicate-designed ultrasonic computerized tomographic system. The result of experiment investigation of diffraction tomography is very promising. Copyright UNION Agency - Science Press.
