Item type:Item, Structural equation model of variables influencing Thai ceramics entrepreneur organisational sustainability(2019-01-01) ;Kowuttiphong, PhainphinFongsuwan, WannoThe ceramics industry is vital to the economy of Thailand which globally, has been projected to reach $US705 billion by 2025. Traditionally however, for centuries the ceramics industry has been clustered in regional enclaves centred on small, entrepreneurial enterprises. This paper therefore investigated a multitude of factors including trade regulations, global competition, quality concerns, speed of development processes and production, and lack of branding and innovation, to determine the factors affecting organisational sustainability of ceramic enterprises. From the 280 Thai enterprises surveyed and analysed by use of a structural equation model by PLS-graph software it was determined that organisational performance affects organisational sustainability to the greatest extent due to monetary and non-monetary factors with an intermediate input into innovation, the business environment and business strategies. Organisational performance is also influenced by innovation and business strategies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Item, The Effects of R&D and Innovation Capabilities on the Thai Automotive Industry Part's Competitive Advantage: A SEM Approach(2017-03-01) ;Chamsuk, Wawmayura ;Fongsuwan, WannoTakala, JosuA structural equation model was used to verify both the direct and indirect influences on research and development and innovation capabilities that affect Thai automotive parts enterprises competitive advantage. Thailand's automotive sector is a major driver of the economy with a multi-thousand network of both domestic and international companies contributing a significant amount to both domestic and Asian economic growth. After peaking in 2013 and reaching the Top 10 automotive nations, there has been a slide backwards. Competition is fierce and the pace of change ever quickening. Therefore, the researchers sought to determine how the automotive parts sector needed to improve in capability, skills and infrastructure to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. From the structural equation model analysis of 220 regional automotive parts sector managers and use of AMOS software, it was determined that research and development combined with innovation plays key roles in the industry's profitability and survivability. Additionally, there must be support across a wide sector of the economy, including universities, government agencies and institutions. Once championed as the 'Detroit of Asia', Thailand's recognized success as a global automotive hub is a classic case of a well-executed industrial plan but that lead can potentially slip away without embracing new technologies and innovative thinking. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Ensuring Competitive Advantage through Innovation Capability and Clustering in the Thai Automotive Parts Molding Industry: A SEM Approach(2017-03-01) ;Tiengtavaj, Sirorath ;Phimonsathienand, ThepparatFongsuwan, WannoThailand hosts over 50 percent of the world's top OEM automotive parts suppliers and additionally is home to over 2,400 Tier 1-3 manufacturers and suppliers. Given the significance of these numbers and Thailand's leading ranking and contribution to the global automotive industry, research was undertaken to determine how manufacturing clusters and innovation capability effect competitive advantage as it relates to automotive production part management. Multiple objectives were established which included the study of the effects and overall influences of the various variables on competitive advantage as well as the development of a structural equation model (SEM) to define how innovation and manufacturing clustering affects the competitive advantage within the Thai automotive parts molding sector. Quantitative methods analysis was conducted on the data from 240 automotive production and components suppliers' questionnaires collected from industry managers with the research results partially obtained from the analysis by use of (PLS)-graph. Qualitative research was also obtained by use of purposive sampling from in-depth interviews from ten senior managers. The results obtained indicated that clusters and innovation capability has a significant and positive effect on competitive advantage. Thus, the findings from the research illustrate that if an organization focuses on clusters, there will be a knock-on effect within the automotive parts groups leading to the increase in innovation capability, which creates a greater competitive advantage, not only for the enterprises, but also for Thai society as well. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Item, Electronic waste: The social and environmental importance of Thai teenager consumer awareness(2016-11-01) ;Yimyong, Thanyaluck ;Phimolsathien, ThepparatFongsuwan, WannoAccording to the United Nations 42 million metric tonnes of e-waste were generated around the globe in 2014 which represented some US$52 billion of potentially reusable resources referred to as the ‘urban mine’, little of which however was collected for recovery. The importance of the proper disposal of e-waste and its hazardous effects to the environment and humans is little understood as well. Electronic Waste which represented seven percent of the world’ s e-waste is different from general waste as there are many diverse and complex parts including heavy metals and hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, and cadmium. Improper handling and disposal can cause significant harm to the environment as well as pose a health hazard to humans. Solid waste management is a complex task which requires the use of advanced technology and specialized process controls. Most e-waste facilities are using aged equipment and techniques which must be upgraded to international standards. Over the years many countries have embraced an Extended Producer Responsibility but today more is needed as the problem has reached unsustainable levels. Stronger legislation in the form of Thailand’s WEEE Management Act unfortunately is tied up in a bureaucratic process with many levels of approval necessary before it can be enacted. One possible solution is the education of the consumer segment most likely to be using these devices, teenagers. Reaching out to teenagers to understand the environmental and human health effects of the improper disposal of discarded, toxic e-waste is a possible solution for the future. Governmental regulation alone will not be adequate to curb the mindless disposal but instead must be supplemented with an education campaign at the earliest stages of consumption, the teenager. This therefore is the reasons for the proposed study. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Cross cultural logistics and supply chain management towards organizational effectiveness within the asean/Thai automotive industries: A sem analysis(2016-09-01) ;Dansomboon, Suwaj ;Phimonsathienand, ThepparatFongsuwan, WannoAs a manufacturing, logistics and supply chain hub within ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), Thailand holds the 12th spot in global vehicle production for an estimated 2,355 Thai and multinational automotive industry enterprises. Within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Thailand ranks number one in automotive production contributing $US11.4 billion to the Thai economy and 12 percent to Thailand's GDP (Gross Domestic Product), with the automotive industry being Thailand's leading export sector. However, the automotive companies envisage the difficulty of cultural diversity to manage and coordinate. Therefore, cultural values from the milieu are inducted into the workplace and have a strong impact on both individual behavior and organizational effectiveness and must be direction at all levels for cross-cultural, organizational effectiveness to be achieved. It also became evident that natural disasters are frequent and highly disruptive to the global automotive supply chain and paces must be taken to countervailing the notable and continuing loss to economic growth and organizational effectiveness to both sector units and the global industry. The implementation of strategically placed, environmentally 'habituated', automotive parts logistics cache might be one solution to the problem. Given the crucial importance of this sector to the economy of the region and the global supply chain, the researchers surveyed 220 managers using a 7-point Likert scale questionnaire within the multinational industrial clusters of Thailand's 'Detroit of Asia' Eastern Seaboard region. Using Structural Equation Modelling to test the 11 variables on Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management and Organizational Effectiveness in a cross-cultural context, it was determined that collaboration within the supply chain and the exchange of information can reduce uncertainty, with trust being a key ingredient to a JV's success. Communication (0.836), trust (0.834) and collaboration (0.824) were ranked as significant components of cross-cultural Supply Chain Management effectiveness. The research also confirmed that the hypothesized difficulty from cultural diversity is difficult to manage and to coordinate. Analysis also confirmed the ongoing and significant problems to the global automotive supply chain by natural disasters and the consequential economic losses. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Item, Social CRM, RMO and business strategies affecting banking performance effectiveness in B2B context(2015-07-06) ;Wongsansukcharoen, Jedsada ;Trimetsoontorn, JirasekFongsuwan, WannoPurpose – This paper aims to develop structural equation modelling of variables that affect the banking performance effectiveness of Thai Commercial Bank branches in the financial service sector by gathering quantitative data. Design/methodology/approach – The population of the study covers all 2,068 Thai Commercial Bank branches in Bangkok, Thailand. This research defined the Thai banks for data collection using stratified sampling (first step) and simple sampling (second step). Primary data were collected using a self-administered survey of 65 managers and 185 marketing officers. In the total sample, 69 (27.6 per cent) of the respondents were male and 181 (72.4 per cent) were female in the Thai Commercial Bank branches. The responses to the questions capturing focal constructs used a seven-point Likert scale. Data were analysed using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. Findings – It was found that significant relationships existed between social customer relationship management (CRM), relationship marketing orientation (RMO) and business strategies and banking performance effectiveness. The key success factors of social CRM and relationship marketing orientation were found to have indirect influences on banking performance effectiveness through mediation of business strategies. Additionally, the results of this research show that social CRM and RMO have direct and indirect influences on banking performance effectiveness through the mediation of focus strategy or differentiation strategy (p < 0.001). Practical implications – Recent development of the digital communications in industrial marketing to achieve firm performance, chief executive officer, management officers and managers could consider setting managing and marketing plans for excellent performance, and long-term relationship by five steps. Originality/value – These results add performance effectiveness and long-term relationships with business-to-business (B2B) service industry and bank customers (both retail and public enterprises) to the factors needed to respond to the highly competitive situation at present, which will be even more important with the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
