Item type:Item, A supply chain management quality management and competitive advantage framework for Thai orchid exporters(2019-01-01) ;Pungam, K.Atthirawong, W.This study aims to develop a conceptual framework of supply chain management (SCM), quality management (QM), and competitive advantage (CA) for agricultural business, specifically, the Thai orchid industry. Papers relating to elements of SCM, QM, and CA adopted by different organisations in the small-to-medium size enterprises (SMEs) sector were reviewed. The conceptual framework comprises three elements: first, SCM, which includes strategic supplier partnerships, customer relationships, and information sharing; second, quality management, which includes top management commitment, customer focus, employee involvement, and continuous improvement, and finally, competitive advantage, including price and cost-based, product-based, and service-based advantages. The literature review reveals SCM and QM have the strongest influence on CA. Thus, we propose conceptual frameworks of the relationship between SCM, QM, and CA. After developing the conceptual framework, we aim to create questionnaire as a research instrument. This will be sent to Thai orchid exporters and the responses will be analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM) approach. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Applying Bayesian network for noncommunicable diseases risk analysis: Implementing national health examination survey in Thailand(2017-07-02) ;Leerojanaprapa, K. ;Atthirawong, W. ;Aekplakorn, W.Sirikasemsuk, K.We propose using a Bayesian network to capture and understand the dependency risk factors affecting the prevalence of chronic diseases. By applying a Bayesian network model, we can visualize interdependencies between risks and their effects on the Noncommunicable disease (NCD) prevalence. By using a Bayesian network to model the prevalence of diabetes, we can define the top three risks as family history of diabetes, obesity, and age. Furthermore, the risk classification results can help to determine the managing strategy. For the Thai population, problems arising from family history of diabetes and obesity can be met by employing a transfer strategy. Age (especially ages of 35-59) and the risk incurred by low intake of fruits and vegetables should use a reduction or mitigation strategy. Finally, those at risk as a result of their area of residence (in urban areas) and socio-economic factors within the 4<sup>th</sup> quantile and low level of physical activity should apply a retain strategy. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Integrated factor analysis and fuzzy analytic network process (FANP) model for supplier selection based on supply chain risk factors(2015-01-01) ;Sinrat, S.Atthirawong, W.Currently, the supply chain management is an important part of several organizations. The risk in supply chain is a potential variation of outcomes which decreases the efficiency in operations. The supplier selection is one of the most critical functions to the success of a manufacturing firm. The objective of this study was to develop the supplier evaluation in supply chain risk approach based on an integrated factor analysis and Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP) model. The model has applied to an electrical and electronic industry in Thailand. The framework of this study had two main thoughts. The first part was to investigate supply chain risk factors from data collection via questionnaire. The questionnaire was answered by 225 respondents in electrical and electronic companies in Thailand. By means of the statistical technique of factor analysis, it was revealed that supply chain risk factors can be categorized into six factors and thirty sub-factors. The second part was to develop a mathematical model for supplier selection decisions via using FANP by incorporating supply chain risk factors acquired from the first part. A detailed step by step implementation method for determining fuzzy scales and calculating weights factors and sub-factors were discussed and finally issues prioritize risk value for alternative best supplier were also mentioned. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Development and retaining model of long term relationship between buyers and sellers in supply chain of palm oil industry in Thailand: A seller's perspective(2014-01-01) ;Lungtae, S.Atthirawong, W.This study aims to investigate important factors influencing on long term relationship between palm oil mill plants and palm oil yards in Thailand by studying on points of view of sellers (palm oil yards). This research is a quantitative research and its hypothetical model was created from related theories and researches. The obtained data was collected from 393 palm oil yards in Thailand and SEM was employed to test hypotheses. It was found that relationship quality had direct influence on long t e rm relationship while price satisfaction had no direct influence on long t e rm relationship. On the other hand, it had indirect influence on long t e rm relationship through relationship quality. Relational norms had direct influence on price satisfaction and indirect influence on long term relationship through relationship quality and long term relationship. Finally, supply strategy had direct influence on relationship quality as well as had indirect influence on long t e rm relationship through relationship quality. Executives of palm oil mill plants are able to apply this model by determining supply strategy and developing relational norms to be consistent with demands of palm sellers leading to price satisfaction and relationship quality influencing on intention to maintain long term relationship of palm sellers. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Factors affecting location decisions in international operations - A Delphi study(2003-01-01) ;MacCarthy, B. L.Atthirawong, W.Only a limited amount of research has been reported on factors influencing international location decisions for contemporary manufacturing operations. In this paper a comprehensive set of factors that may influence international location decisions is identified from an analysis of the existing literature. Results are presented from a Delphi study that used a worldwide panel of experts to investigate factors affecting international location decisions. Findings are reported on the motivations of firms in seeking to manufacture across national borders and the key steps that should be followed in making international location decisions. The top five major factors identified that may strongly influence international location decisions generally were: costs, infrastructure, labour characteristics, government and political factors and economic factors. Ten key sub-factors identified were: quality of labour force, existence of modes of transportation, quality and reliability of modes of transportation, availability of labour force, quality and reliability of utilities, wage rates, motivation of workers, telecommunication systems, record of government stability and industrial relations laws. Additional sub-factors of increasing importance include: protection of patents, availability of management resources and specific skills and system and integration costs. The factors identified have implications for management practice, for policy-making by governments and other agencies and for academic research in international operations.
