The design technique for a recursive digital filter with a maximally flat group delay at an arbitrary specified frequency is known. It is shown here that, for certain cases, the filter coefficients for high-pass and band-elimination recursive digital filters with a maximally flat group delay can be expressed in closed forms.

Digital filters with either maximally flat magnitude or maximally flat group delay are known [1]–[3]. This paper offers an approach to the design of a recursive digital filter with simultaneous approximation to both magnitude and phase. Although the same Taylor norm is used, this described technique is different from the previous approach [4] in the sense that it employs a power series expansion around ω = 0 in the z-plane. It gives an alternative insight into the problem for the designers who are more familiar with the z-plane than the Richards' λ-plane. The filter transfer functions are obtained explicitly in closed forms. Copyright © 1979 by The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.

For most of the given filter orders, the design technique reported recently [1] can generate neither a complete nor a gradual transition of filters between the Chebyshev and Butterworth extremes. An alternative design is proposed here without such difficulties. Copyright © 1979 by The Institute Of Electrical And Electronics Engineers, Inc.

A design technique for a recursive digital filter with simultaneously maximally flat magnitude and group delay at an arbitrary specified frequency is presented. It employs the power series expansion to formulate a set of simultaneous linear equations which can be solved with a standard computational algorithm. A technique is proposed for the design of a recursive digital filter with maximally flat responses in both magnitude and group delay. In comparison to the previous designs [1] -[3], the magnitude and group delay always show smooth responses no matter what the difference is in the polynomial degrees of the numerator and denominator. A sine-cosine squared-magnitude function for a digital bandpass filter is proposed. It offers a maximally flat pass-band magnitude response and more flexibility on the number of exchangeable zeros at ωT = 0 and ωT = π rad. © 1979, The Institution of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.

A class of transitional Butterworth-Chebyshev filters is presented. The filters show gradual transition and, at the same time, maintain the equiripple peaks. © 1978, The Institution of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.
