    THz switching generation using a PANDA ring resonator for high speed computer communication

    A novel design of Terahertz (THz) switching generation for high speed computer used is proposed. The dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) can be obtained by using a Gaussian or Soliton pluses propagating within a modified add-drop filter know as a PANDA ring resonator. The THz devices can made contributions to promising applications in high-speed switching, demultiplexing, and wavelength conversion of optical signals. Effective THz control is also essential for the potential application to ultrahigh-speed wireless digital interconnects for computer chips of the ultrahigh clock rates (> 10 GHz). In principle, the high density frequency (wavelength) can be generated and used to form the radio frequency identification (RFID), Ad-Hoc network and ubiquitous applications, moreover, the tiny device system is the another advantage, which can be constructed incorporating the available currently used system. In this paper is organized as follow: introduction, theory and the use of such a system in all proposed applications.

    High capacity frequency comb generated by a PANDA ring resonator

    This paper we propose a new system design for optical frequency comb generator (OFCG) using PANDA ring resonator over terahertz span. This scheme can be generated high capacity frequency comb signal tens to hundreds of frequencies by using a Dark-Bright soliton pulse driven, so that we can obtain high capacity comb signal at the through and drop port, respectively. Our system can tune the rate and pulse width by driving signal or the ring parameter. In application, the proposed scheme can be recognized as a simple flexible and more stable for apply in advance circuit system. © 2012 IEEE.

    Novel soliton cryptography using optical key generated by orthogonal dark-bright soliton pair

    A new method of optical cryptography using dark-bright soliton conversion control within a modified add/drop optical filter is proposed. A pair of optical keys is randomly generated and transmitted into the transmission line, where finally the corrected keys between Alice (sender) and Bob (receiver) can be retrieved. In principle, the coincidence (orthogonal) dark-bright soliton pair has shown promising behaviors, especially when they propagate into the π/2 phase shifter, i.e. beamsplitter, the shift in phase of π/2 between dark and bright solitons is occurred and separated. Such behaviors can be used to form the orthogonal light modes (solitons), which are useful for cryptographic application, where in this case the longdistance cryptography can be easily managed. We have derived and presented a new concept of multi-orthogonal solitons generated by using dark-bright soliton pulses within the modified add/drop optical filter, which is known as a PANDA ring resonator. By using the dark-bright soliton conversion control, the obtained output of the dynamic states can be used to randomly form the multi-orthogonal soliton pairs, which can be available for computer and communication security applications, especially for long-distance link. © 2012 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

    A new technique of terahertz (THz) frequency carrier generation for multi-channel radio frequency identification (RFID) use is proposed. The dense wavelength division multiplexing signals can be obtained by using a Gaussian pulse propagating within a modified add-drop filter known as a PANDA ring resonator. The THz device system can be made contributions to the promising applications, especially in highspeed switching, demultiplexing, and wavelength conversion of optical signals, in which the effect of THz control is also required and essential for the potential application to ultra-high speed wireless digital interconnects for computer chips with ultra-high clock rates. In principle, the high-density frequency (wavelength) can be generated and used to form the RFID; moreover, the tiny device system is another advantage, which can be constructed to incorporate the currently used system. The results obtained have shown that higher density and increasing channel capacity can be obtained and are useful for the large demand for RFID applications. © 2012 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

    IMC-based PID controllers design for a two-links SCARA robot

    The paper presents the design of PID controllers for a two-link SCARA robot based on internal model control (IMC) technique. For the model of the two-link SCARA robot which includes an integrator, IMC filter must be selected properly so that the designed IMC controllers can be approximated as PID controllers by using Maclaurin approximation. The simulation results verify the applicability and satisfied performance of the proposed control system. © 2011 IEEE.

    Optimal H2 controller design with derivative state constraints for torsional vibration system

    The powerful derivative state constrained H<inf>2</inf> optimal is presented in order to reduce vibration in oscillatory system with a constant disturbance will be considered. It is shown that the derivative state constrained optimal H<inf>2</inf> integral problems can be reduced to the standard optimal H<inf>2</inf> control. In this paper, the derivative state constrained optimal H<inf>2</inf> integral controller is presented based on the optimal H<inf>2</inf> control problem to control underdamped responses of the linear systems. And the simulation results show that the proposed method is also effectiveness to reduce the damping for the torsional vibration based on two-inertia system.

    Swinging-up and stabilizing control of inverted pendulum on cart system by hybrid controller

    In this paper, a hybrid controller designed for swinging-up and stabilizing an inverted pendulum on cart system is presented. The energy control concept is employed for moving the cart back and forth until the total energy of kinetic energy and potential energy are changed enough to swing the inverted pendulum up to around the upright position within the ranges of pendulum angle and angular velocity specified in the switching condition. After that, the stabilizing controller is switched to stabilize the inverted pendulum at the upright position. The stabilizing controller is a linear servo state feedback controller designed by coefficient diagram method. The simulation and experimental results in swinging-up the pendulum from its pendant position to around the position within a limited travel of the cart without pre-assigned cart's position and stabilizing the inverted pendulum on cart are also shown for comparison.

    Multivariable control of overhead crane system by CRA method

    In this paper, three controllers, namely I-PD, PD and I-P controllers designed by CRA method for simultaneously controlling the trolley position, load-swing angle and hoisting rope length of the overhead crane system is proposed. The non-linear model of the crane system is first approximated to be three transfer functions in accordance with the trolley position, load-swing angle and hoisting rope length respectively. Then, the corresponding parameters of the I-PD, PD and I-P controllers are designed independently based on the appropriate values of generalized time constant and characteristic ratios. The implementation results show the good performances of the overhead crane system controlled by these controllers. The speed adjustment effects and fast rejection of the disturbance effect occurred at the input force of the trolley are also shown by the experimental results. © 2008 SICE.

    In this paper, a hybrid controller for swinging up and stabilizing an inverted pendulum on cart is presented. The energy control concept is employed to swing the inverted pendulum up to around the upright position within the assigned switching condition. After that, the stabilizing controller is then switched to stabilize the inverted pendulum at the upright position. The stabilizing controller is a linear servo state feedback controller designed by Coefficient Diagram Method. The simulation results show that the designed hybrid controller can be mutually operated with acceptable efficiency.

    Simplified Design of I-P Controllers for Two-Inertia Speed Control Systems

    A simplified design of I-P controller by the concept of model order reduction of a higher-order plant and by the CRA method with less number of characteristic ratios α<inf>i</inf> is presented in this paper. Two model order reduction techniques are employed to obtain the reduced order models of a higher- order plant first. Then the I-P controllers are designed for the reduced order models by using CRA method with the appropriate values of characteristic ratios and of the generalized time constant in order to obtain the closed-loop step responses without overshoots. Finally, the designed I-P controllers are employed to control the original higher-order plant. The acceptable performances of the speed control of a two-inertia system employing the proposed I-P controllers designed from the reduced order models are still obtained as verified by the simulation results. Tracking the retarded motor speed and disturbance rejection are also investigated. © 2008 IEEE.
