Item type:Item, On-Chain Verifiable Credential with Applications in Education(2024-07-01) ;Chotikakamthorn, Nopporn ;Mi San, AyeSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonA verifiable credential (VC) has been standardized and applied in vari-ous domains, including education. Due to its immutability, blockchain has been considered and used for credential issuance and verification. Most existing methods, however, are not compatible with the W3C VC stan-dard. In this paper, an on-chain VC issuance and verification method has been described. The method is based on the standard VC data model and applicable to any credential type. It decomposes a VC document into a VC template and the corresponding value array(s). This allows a VC to be issued on-chain in the Bitcoin BTC network, which has a limited data-embedding capacity. The proposed method reduces blockchain resource consumption due to the reusability of a VC template. In addition, it allows the use of a concise VC fingerprint format instead of a full VC for credential exchange. Two issuance modes, namely the full on-chain and partial on-chain, are proposed targeting different use cases. The proposed method has been applied for issuing and verifying two learning credential types. The method was evaluated on the Bitcoin Testnet to measure time and space complexities. With the reduced-size VC fingerprint, the proposed method can embed a VC on a traditional paper-based credential as a compact-sized QR code. The proposed method ofiered faster VC issuance and verification than an existing standard-based verifiable credential method. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Blockchain-based Learning Credential Revision and Revocation Method(2020-10-07) ;San, Aye Mi ;Chotikakamthorn, NoppornSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonMany blockchain-based learning credential systems have been proposed to reduce fraud and improve verification efficiency. In addition to a method for issuing and verifying credentials, a solution is needed to support the revision and revocation of an issued credential record. For the case of learning credentials, depending on how a revocation policy affects credential use that occurred before the revocation date, an additional mechanism may be needed for credential revision. Current digital learning credential methods offer only a revocation mechanism. So they do not fully meet such unique requirement in the education context. In this paper, a blockchain-based method for learning credential revision and revocation is proposed. It makes use of the revision and revocation addresses assigned to each batch of issuing credentials. To revise (revoke) one or more credentials, the proposed method stores the revision (revocation) list as a message in the OP_RETURN field of the revision (revocation) transaction, with the revision (revocation) address as one of its outputs. The concept of a local credential id has been introduced to allow a revision (revocation) list to be efficiently stored on a blockchain system. It is based entirely on a blockchain system and does not require any centralized authority. It is also applicable to most blockchain systems. A comparative study of the proposed method against existing credential revocation methods is also provided. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, The novel secure testament methodology for cryptocurrency wallet using mnemonic seed(2020-07-03) ;Janpitak, Nanta ;Lilakiatsakun, WoraphonSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonRecently, cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc, have rapidly been recognized as an asset, often called a digital asset. Comparing to the real assets, it would be handled carefully due to its own characteristics that are completely different. The disadvantage of such digital assets, on the one hand, is that whoever knows the private key of the wallet, they can easily take over that digital asset. On the other hand, if the wallet’s owners are dead without passing credential information to others, that asset will be lost forever. We thus propose the novel secure testament methodology for a digital asset such as Bitcoin to solve the mentioned problems. The mechanism is based on managing the mnemonic seed of the wallet so that an inheritor will obtain the mnemonic seed in a secure way. Two mechanisms of the proposed methodology are implemented. The first is to save the mnemonic seed in a secure repository. Therefore, no one can access to the cryptocurrency wallet while the owner still being alive and does not wish anybody to access. The second is to deliver the mnemonic seed securely to legitimate inheritor when the owner is suspected to be dead or disappeared. Finally, based on our experiment, the results show that the aforementioned problems can be solved. Furthermore, the proposed mechanism can help the owner of the asset to managing the confidentiality of their assets. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Blockchain-based Learning Credential Verification System with Recipient Privacy Control(2019-12-01) ;San, Aye Mi ;Chotikakamthorn, NoppornSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonVarious forms of learning credentials play an important role in society. For example, a degree certificate is usually required to apply for many jobs. Currently, paper-based learning credentials such as diploma or degree certificates are still widely used. However, proof of such credentials' authenticity has become increasingly more difficult in recently years due to availability of low-cost desktop publishing tools. Recently, a blockchain-based digital certificate issuing and verification system has been proposed to address these problems. However, existing blockchain-based certification verification solutions have a few shortcomings in common. One of them is the lack of mechanism to control the amount of information and anonymity exposed during the verification process. This paper proposed a blockchain-based learning credential verification system, where a} {credential recipient can control the amount of credential-related information to be exposed during the verification process. The proposed solution makes use of a Merkle tree to encode causal relationship among pieces of information the credential is composed of. The abstract data model built on top of the binary Merkle tree has been proposed so that a recipient can choose to disclose part of the credential information, including the recipient profile. This means it is possible for credential verification to be performed anonymously. This can be achieved without increasing blockchain transaction cost and complexity. Example of use case scenarios that require such anonymous verification are described. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, A Secured OpenFlow-Based Software Defined Networking Using Dynamic Bayesian Network(2019-10-01) ;Sophakan, NatnareeSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonOpenFlow has been the main standard protocol of software defined networking (SDN) since the launch of this new networking paradigm. It is a programmable network protocol that controls traffic flows among switches and routers regardless of their platforms. Its security relies on the optional implementation of Transport Layer Security (TLS) which has been proven vulnerable. The aim of this research was to develop a secured OpenFlow, so-called Secured-OF. A stateful firewall was used to store state information for further analysis. Dynamic Bayesian Network (DBN) was used to learn denial-of-service attack and distributed denial-of-service attack. It analyzes packet states to determine the nature of an attack and adds that piece of information to the flow table entry. The proposed Secured-OF model in Ryu controller was evaluated with several performance metrics. The analytical evaluation of the proposed Secured-OF scheme was performed on an emulated network. The results showed that the proposed Secured-OF scheme offers a high attack detection accuracy at 99.5%. In conclusion, it was able to improve the security of the OpenFlow controller dramatically with trivial performance degradation compared to an SDN with no security implementation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Information security requirement extraction from regulatory documents using GATE/ANNIC(2019-03-01) ;Janpitak, Nanta ;Sathitwiriyawong, ChanboonPipatthanaudomdee, PhatwaratCompliance is a concept of acting in accordance with established laws, regulations, etc. In order to judge that an organization is following the given rules or not, a compliance auditing is required. A compliance checking is an important activity of compliance auditing which require the extraction of compliance requirement from legal documents. There have been a more and more research challenges to automate the extraction of compliance requirements from the legal documents. This is because most legal documents are embodied in natural language which cannot be understood by the traditional computer system. Though a regulatory document comprises thousands of words, not every word is required in the automation of compliance checking requirement. Extracting only the essential content from the regulatory document can help to shorten the process of compliance requirement retrieving. This paper presents a methodology to extract the compliance requirements in term of goals (subject, object, target, action) which is the essential contents from the legal or regulatory documents by using GATE. GATE is a widely used tool for language engineering to support the machine to process the information extraction (IE) for queries and reasoning. Most researchers proposed to use the readymade application named ANNIE in GATE to extract the essential statements from any target documents. In our proposed method, we add the ANNIC which is a plug-in tool in GATE to help in searching for annotations, visualizing them and inspecting features. Using ANNIC can extract more detail from the ANNIE outcomes which is still in form of unstructured text into structured data such as table. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Securing openflow controller of software-defined networks using Bayesian network(2018-07-02) ;Sophakan, NatnareeSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonSoftware-defined networking (SDN) is a new network architecture that has been proven to enhance network performance and reliability. OpenFlow is one of the most acceptable standards for building SDN solutions. Although OpenFlow promotes logically centralized control of network switches and routers in SDN environment, security is of major important for SDN deployment. The security of OpenFlow controller can be optionally implemented using Transport Layer Security (TLS). The aim of this research is to strengthen the security of the existing OpenFlow controller that can still be coupled with TLS implementation. Basic packet filtering was initially employed by inspecting the properties of each packet individually and then Bayesian network (BN) classifier was used to detect and filter unusual packet flows. Subsequently, this work was tested using Mininet as a network emulator for prototyping SDN controller functions on Ryu controller platform. The results show that the proposed work can significantly mitigate network attacks with small processing time and therefore help strengthen the security of the existing SDNs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, An acceptance model of mobile banking(2018-06-20) ;Sathitwiriyawong, ChanboonPhuttaraksa, PornnapaThis paper examines the influence of five external variables regarding the acceptance of mobile banking based on technology acceptance model (TAM) and trust model. They are system quality, self-efficacy, subjective norm, structural assurance, and compatibility. The population samples are retail bank customers residing in Bangkok who have experience in mobile banking services. Structural equation modeling is used to evaluate the causal relationship in the proposed model. The results of path coefficient analysis indicate that the acceptance of mobile banking is mainly influenced by behavioral intention to use. The acceptance of mobile banking can be explained by behavioral intention to use by 40 percent. Furthermore, compatibility emerged as the most powerful factor influencing the behavioral intention to use compared with the other factors. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, A conceptual framework for better understanding of factors influencing accessibility to a website and its acceptance by university students with visual impairments(2017-07-01) ;Sirikitsathian, Phatthanan ;Chaveesuk, SinghaSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonInformation and communication technology have been developed and widely used nowadays. A good website should be readily accessible to every group of users. General users or users with disability should be able to access and understand the messages in a website equally well. However at the present, many people with visual impairment cannot access a website readily: They cannot search for information, in particular. Specifically, some university students in Thailand have problems accessing a website and understanding its content due to the website was developed by developers and associated personnel that lacked the knowledge and understanding of the principles that affect universal website accessibility and acceptance. This study, therefore, propose a conceptual framework based on the UTAUT theory of website acceptance. In addition to the main variables in the original theory which are applicable only to general users, two more main variables were included in this framework: Perceived convenience and perceived reliability. Two new moderators were added to it as well: web accessibility and vision impairment level. These extra variables and moderators were added in order to incorporate users' intention to use a website and their usage behavior in this framework. This framework would be of value to developers and associated personnel to help them understand the valid website design requirements for university students with visual impairment. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, A conceptual framework of students with visual impairments on website accessibility acceptance(2017-02-21) ;Sirikitsathian, Phatthanan ;Chaveesuk, SinghaSathitwiriyawong, ChanboonWebsite accessibility is a key determinant of people with disabilities' acceptance. It is the key of making websites accessible to all, which covers all disabilities who affect access to the web. Web users including students with visual impairments can conveniently undertake a number of tasks that would be difficult or impossible, but many web applications are not accessible to them. Therefore, inaccessible online materials will lead students with visual impairments to fewer opportunities to learn and improve their learning outcomes. Based on many researches, it was found that the acceptance of website accessibility of students with visual impairments included web accessibility and vision impairment level. The purpose of this paper is to build a model based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions have positive effects on usage intention and acceptance behavior of website accessibility. This proposed model provides more understanding of the factors that could influence user acceptance in website accessibility. It also presents hypotheses and develops a structural equation model for further empirical study.
