    Temperature effect on refractometric double ring resonator

    The effect of temperature on double ring resonator (DRR) glucose sensing is investigate theoretically and proposed. Different from other optical resonator, the pulse laser is used as an input source and the vertical DRR configuration is used. The concept for pulse propagation is based on the split-step Fourier method. Result shows that the detection of glucose is measured by optical losses and the losses at 26°C are 1.86 dB at through and 0.93 dB at drop port, respectively. The performance of glucose sensing on DRR is degraded by temperature. Effect of temperature creates more losses which results total loss of 2.01 dB at through and 1 dB at drop port when temperature increase by 1°C.

    Multi-stage ring resonator all-pass filters for dispersion compensation

    This paper describes group delay time property of the multi-stage ring resonator all-pass filters (RRAPF) in either cascading single stages or using lattice architectures. The present analysis is restricted to directional couplers and waveguides characterized by various parameters, and careful design of these parameters can optimize the group delay response. The extra phase shifters of each single stage have been adjusted to yield a broadband group delay. By increasing the number of filter stages, a larger bandwidth over the dispersion can be obtained. This device is able to provide dispersion compensation to systems such as the high speed dense wavelength division multiplexer (DWDM) for the optical fiber communication system.

    Soliton collision management in a microring resonator system

    We present the interesting system that can be used to solve the problem of signal collision, especially, a soliton pulse in the propagation media. A system consists of a micro ring resonator system incorporating an add/drop filter, whereas the large bandwidth signals can be generated, stored and regenerated within the system. By using the appropriate parameters relating to the practical device such as micro ring radii, coupling coefficients, linear and nonlinear refractive index, we found that the obtained multisolitons can be benefit the dense wavelength division multiplexing application, whereas the different center wavelengths of the soliton bands can be obtained via the add/drop filter without the collision, which can be used to increase the communication channel capacity in communication network. The best of free spectrum range (FSR) and spectral width of the results obtained is 14 nm and 100 pm, respectively, which allows the increasing in channel capacity due to the enough propagation spacing from the collision. © 2009 Elsevier B.V.
