Item type:Item, The mediating role of psychological capital in linking environmental dynamism to entrepreneurial persistence among nascent entrepreneurs in China(2026-01-01) ;Mo, Xiao ;Chatpunyakul, ChatchaiGulthawatvichai, SaristThe paper examines the impact of environmental dynamism on personal outcomes (goal achievement, happiness) and psychological capital (PsyCap) of nascent entrepreneurs through a mediator. A quantitative survey (cross-sectional survey) was done on 136 nascent Chinese entrepreneurs, and regression and mediation analysis were done using SPSS to test hypothesised relationships. The findings indicate that environmental dynamism essentially decreases goal achievement, happiness, and PsyCap, whereas PsyCap is a powerful predictor of these positive results and mediates the relationship between environmental turbulence and personal outcomes, which demonstrates a defensive feature of PsyCap in turbulent environments. In practice, the results highlight the necessity to establish PsyCap through training, mentoring, and incubator assistance and encourage policymakers and educators to supplement financial/institutional interventions with psychological capacity-building. This piece of work is important as it focuses on the individual results of firms rather than companies and emphasises the environmental factors, psychological resources, and well-being to make PsyCap an entrepreneurial sustainability strategic resource. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Item, Demographic analysis of education for sustainable development among higher education institution students in China(2025-01-01) ;Chen, Di ;Prabowo, Thoriq TriPoungsuk, PakkapongPurpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of demographic factors on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and the diverse perspectives held by students at different higher education institutions (HEIs) in China. This study aims to advance ESD and contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals with five years remaining. Design/methodology/approach – This study examines 706 students from five HEIs using a convergent mixed-methods approach. A Likert scale assessed ESD levels and demographics, with t-tests and ANOVA analysing demographic influences. Thematic analysis of open-ended responses explored students’ ESD perspectives. Findings – HEI students in China show high awareness of ESD. Significant differences were found based on age, gender, institution, academic level, major and GPA, whereas education level and residence showed no impact. A gap remains between ESD awareness and actual behaviour. Research limitations/implications – Future research should explore more demographic variables, include diverse education levels and expand globally. Multi-source questionnaires are recommended for greater depth and comprehensiveness. Practical implications – The study highlights the need to bridge the awareness–behaviour gap through experiential learning, curriculum integration, faculty training and supportive policies. Originality/value – This study is the first to explore the impact of demographics on HEI students’ ESD perspectives in China, using qualitative questions to enrich quantitative findings. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Determinants of Willingness to Use Mobile Payment Application in China(2024-01-01) ;Chen, Shulan ;Chaiyasoonthorn, WornchanokChaveesuk, SinghaDuring the past 20 years, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has shown rapid growth in China. By 2022, the Chinese GDP has reached 121.02 trillion yuan, 12 times that of 2000. The rapid development of the Chinese economy has further improved the living standards of the Chinese. At the same time, the Chinese demand for transaction payments is increasing daily, and the people's requirements for transaction payments are also getting higher and higher. The growth of demand for transaction payment boosts the development of the mobile payment industry, which provides opportunities for the mobile payment market. At the same time, there are increasing types of mobile payment in the market, and the competition is becoming increasingly fierce, which brings challenges and difficulties to mobile payment operators. The purpose of this study is to build a model framework to help Chinese mobile payment operators identify factors that affect consumers’ use of mobile payment to expand consumer groups and enhance the competitiveness of mobile payment companies. The novelty of this study is that, based on the SOR theory, the paper constructs a conceptual framework of mobile payment application users’ willingness to use in China and finds out the key factors of willingness to use mobile payment. The study results show that the key factors influencing willingness to use mobile payment are usefulness, ease of use, service quality, cost, risk, perceived value, and satisfaction. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, CHINESE MOBILE PAYMENT LANDSCAPE: A STIMULUS ORGANISM RESPONSE MODEL EXAMINING PERCEIVED VALUE, SATISFACTION, AND INFLUENCES ON CUSTOMERS’ WILLINGNESS ON THIS TECHNOLOGY(2024-01-01) ;Chen, Shulan ;Chaveesuk, SinghaChaiyasoonthorn, WornchanokThis study aims to identify factors influencing individuals’ willingness to use mobile payment applications in China. Stimulus–organism–response (SOR) theory served as the foundational framework. Quantitative data were collected from 462 valid questionnaire addressing people’s use of mobile payment platforms in various regions of China. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) results that perceived usefulness and ease of use significantly increase user satisfaction and perceived value. In the same vein, service quality and social influence also positively and significantly influence to satisfaction. In other words, cost has negative and significant impact on perceived value. Perceived value has positive and significant impact on satisfaction. Perceived value and satisfaction have positive and significant impact on willingness to use. The current study with significant findings contributed to fill the gap in the context of China region because only a few studies leveraged the SOR theory to explore mobile payment. The findings also contributed to enrich knowledge of mobile payment applications and provide actionable guidance to help mobile payment operators make strategic decisions. These results could also increase the understanding of mobile payment which paint a more vivid picture of this phenomenon and can enable mobile payment operators to make better strategic choices. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, The Mobile Payment Application Acceptance Model of China: on the Basis of S-O-R Theory(2023-10-27) ;Chen, Shulan ;Chaveesuk, Singha ;Ramadhana, ArgaChaiyasoonthorn, WornchanokWith the rapid increase in the scale of mobile terminal equipment, the continuous expansion of mobile data traffic and the growth of Chinese residents' consumer demand, these factors have promoted the development of China's mobile e-commerce. Payment methods are a key component of mobile e-commerce, while traditional paper money transactions show increasingly prominent shortcomings in mobile electronic payments. In such a context, mobile payment emerged naturally. Mobile payment is convenient, fast and cashless. Mobile payment has changed the payment habits of Chinese paper currency transactions. Especially during the period from 2020 to 2022, the outbreak of the COVID-19 has promoted cashless mobile payment to become the preferred payment method of the Chinese people. Among the Chinese mobile payment market, there are many kinds of mobile payment apps. For example, the People's Bank of China is testing a digital RMB application. In April 2022, Huawei Pay officially started operation. In addition, China has introduced a highly standardized system for mobile payments. With the increasing number of mobile payment applications and the introduction of a high standardization system for mobile payment, the competition in China's mobile payment market is increasingly fierce. Under the premise of complying with China's mobile payment standardization system, how can China's mobile payment operators retain and expand users in the fierce payment market? How do China's mobile payment operators survive and develop in the fiercely competitive environment? These are the issues that China's mobile payment operators focus on. Therefore, it is a very meaningful topic to study the influencing factors of China's mobile payment APP users' willingness to use. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Item, Does education matter in China? Myths about financial inclusion and energy consumption(2022-10-01) ;Li, Yukun ;Chen, JianSohail, Muhammad TayyabChina is the most polluted economy in the world, facing the challenges of increased CO<inf>2</inf> emissions. In this way, energy consumption is a key factor in CO<inf>2</inf> emissions. To this end, this study empirically examines the effects of financial inclusion and education on energy consumption by employing the ARDL approach for China during the period 1995–2019. The results suggest that financial inclusion has a positive effect on renewable energy consumption, but a negative impact on renewable energy and total energy consumption. The results show that education reduces non-renewable consumption and increases renewable energy consumption in the long term. Long-run and short-run findings are also consistent and robust in the sensitivity analysis. Based on findings, China should invest in the education sector and increase financial inclusion to reduce energy consumption to meet environmental sustainability. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
