Item type:Item, Digital holography with deep learning for algae identification and classification(2024-01-01) ;Ruttanasirawit, Chinnaphat ;Plaipichit, Suwan ;Thongsuwan, Setthanun ;Thonglim, PacharaPhunpruch, SaranyaRecently, the characterization of marine objects, populations and biophysical interactions have become crucial within the research community. In this study, we leverage digital holographic imaging systems and deep learning networks to classify three distinct types of micro-algae: Chlamydomonas, Scenedesmus armatus, and Scenedesmus_sp-L. We employed reconstructed digital holographic images and deep learning to identify the results from both approaches. The integration of holographic imaging holds promises in replacing expensive characterization systems like AFM, x-ray diffraction, and Raman spectroscopy, offering a more costeffective solution. In our system, we utilize in-line microscopic digital holographic imaging to record and reconstruct images of the algae specimens. An essential advantage of holographic techniques is that they do not require intact samples of the specimens for effective object identification. To further enhance the process, we combined deep learning algorithms with holographic imaging, capitalizing on the advanced computers. This combination enables highly effective characterizing and classification of different types of algae. These innovative approaches pave the way for exciting advancement in marine research and monitoring. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Identification of major carotenoids from green alga Tetraspora sp. CU2551: partial purification and characterization of lutein, canthaxanthin, neochrome, and β-carotene(2022-08-01) ;Maswanna, ThanapornManeeruttanarungroj, CherdsakThe green algae Tetraspora sp. CU2551 was previously identified as a strain with high potential for biohydrogen production; however, its algal biomass characteristics changed from green to reddish orange within 43 days of biohydrogen production. The crude pigments were extracted, partially purified, and characterized by chemical determination. The present study focused on elucidating the carotenoid composition of the selected green alga Tetraspora sp. CU2551. The pigment extract was partially purified and fractionated using thin layer chromatography, and yielded two major and two minor carotenoid bands. The fractions were confirmed by high-performance liquid chromatography with a diode array detector (HPLC–DAD) before being identified and confirmed using Liquid Chromatograph-Quadrupole Time of Flight-Mass Spectrometry (LC-QTOF-MS). The spectral data of these fractions revealed four sub-fractions of interest that were lutein, canthaxanthin, neochrome, and β-carotene, which had percentages in the crude extracts of 30.57%, 25.47%, 7.89%, and 0.71%, respectively. Lutein and canthaxanthin were found to be the major carotenoid pigments present. Our findings in this present study are the first reporting of Tetraspora sp. CU2551 as a potential alternate source for carotenoid pigment production. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Morphological characterization and phylogeny of pythium and related genera in rayong province, thailand(2021-01-01) ;Saelee, Rattasit ;Busarakam, KanungnidKoohakan, PrommartMost well-known microorganisms in the class Oomycetes (notably genera Phytophthora and Pythium) are pathogenic to both animals and plants due to their diverse lifestyle patterns. This study was designed to recover Pythium from composite soils (cultivated and forest soils) and water sources (fresh and brackish water) from Rayong Province. Twenty isolates of hyaline and non-septate fungal-like organisms were isolated from those sources. The primer pair ITS4 and ITS6 were used to amplify approximately 900 bp products from Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and morphological characteristics including sporangium, oogonium, antheridium and oospore, were noted. Morphological characteristics data of recovered Pythium strain can be classified into 12 source groups. ITS sequencing results revealed that eight closely related species had been recovered: Globisporangium splendens, Pythium cucurbitacearum, Pythium acanthichum, Pythium deliense, Pythium diclinum, Pythium torulosum, Phytopythium vexans and Phytopythium helicoides, which had similarities in the range 94.67-100% values at between 656 and 922 locations. Most of these species were reported as plant pathogens. Therefore, this report can be used as a guide for disease control planning. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Vein pattern verification and identification based on local geometric invariants constructed from minutia points and augmented with barcoded local feature(2020-05-01) ;Pititheeraphab, Yutthana ;Thongpance, Nuntachai ;Aoyama, HisayukiPintavirooj, ChuchartThis paper presents the development of a hybrid feature-dorsal hand vein and dorsal geometry-modality for human recognition. Our proposed hybrid feature extraction method exploits two types of features: dorsal hand geometric-related and local vein pattern. Using geometric affine invariants, the peg-free system extracts minutia points and vein termination and bifurcation and constructs a set of geometric invariants, which are then used to establish the correspondence between two sets of minutiae-one for the query vein image and the other for the reference vein image. When the correspondence is established, geometric transformation parameters are computed to align the query with the reference image. Once aligned, hybrid features are extracted for identification. In this study, the algorithm was tested on a database of 140 subjects, in which ten different dorsal hand geometric-related images were taken for each individual, and yielded the promising results. In this regard, we have achieved an equal error rate (EER) of 0.243%, indicating that our method is feasible and effective for dorsal vein recognition with high accuracy. Item type:Item, Parameters Identification for Series Resonance in Power Systems Using a Frequency Response Technique(2018-07-02) ;Yeetum, WannoKinnares, VijitThis paper proposes frequency response based parameters identification for series resonance in power systems with capacitor banks for power factor correction. Identified parameters are source resistance, source inductance and capacitance of a capacitor bank. The proposed method requires only magnitudes of three harmonic orders of source voltage and current. The proposed method is simple and easy to understand by finding underdetermined parameters. The identified parameters have included a parasitic parameters occurring in the power system. Item type:Item, Identification of syrup type using fourier transform-near infrared spectroscopy with multivariate classification methods(2018-03-01) ;Lapcharoensuk, RavipatNakawajana, NatrapeeThis research aimed to establish near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy models for identification of syrup types in which the maple syrup was discriminated from other syrup types. Thirty syrup types were used in this research; the NIR spectra of each type were recorded with 10 replicates. The repeatability and reproducibility of NIR scanning were performed, and the absorbance at 6940cm-1 was used for calculation. Principal component analysis was used to group the syrup type. Identification models were developed by soft independent modeling by class analogy (SIMCA) and partial least-squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). The SIMCA models of all syrup types exhibited accuracy percentage of 93.3-100% for identifying syrup types, whereas maple syrup discrimination models showed percentage of accuracy between 83.2% and 100%. The PLS-DA technique gave the accuracy of syrup types classification between 96.6% and 100% and presented ability on discrimination of maple syrup form other types of syrup with accuracy of 100%. The finding presented the potential of NIR spectroscopy for the syrup type identification. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Identification of blast-resistant varieties from Landrace, improved and wild species of rice(2013-07-18) ;Salih, Abdu ;Sreewongchai, Tanee ;Sripichitt, PrapaParinthawong, NonglakAn experiment was conducted to identify rice varieties resistant to blast disease. Samples of 311 genetically diversified varieties/accessions comprised of landrace (263), improved (43) and wild (5) rice varieties/accessions were provided by the National Rice Gene Bank of Thailand. The screening for blast at the seedling stage was done using 29 diversified blast isolates. The blast isolates were collected from seven provinces (Phitsanulok, Ubon Ratchathani, Khon Kean, Chiang Rai, Nong Khai, Chaiyaphum and Udon Thani) of Thailand. The results indicated a total of 35 varieties/accessions (25 landrace, 9 improved and 1 wild) were resistant to all tested blast isolates. The 25 resistant landrace varieties were collections from Northern (10), Northeastern (9) and Southern (6) Thailand. Moreover four of the resistant landrace varieties (GS23107, GS19769, GS20874 and GS23774) were highly resistant with no symptom of the disease. From this study, it can be suggested that the resistant landraces from the Southern, Northern and Northeastern regions could be used as sources of resistant varieties in designing future breeding programs aimed at developing disease-resistant genotypes. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

P.We propose a novel design of optical network system that can be used for optical communication security and receiver identification. The data signal is secured by using both the optical encryption key and optical address of the receiver before transmission, where finally the receiver who has the valid optical decryption key and optical address can decrypt the Ciphertext. In this paper, a PANDA ring resonator, optical add/drop filter and Mach-Zehnder Interferometer are used for the encryption, decryption and identification processes without any electronic control circuit. The encryption and decryption keys are formed by dark-bright soliton propagation within the PANDA ring resonator. Item type:Item, Nonlinear dynamic system identification using recurrent neural network with multi-segment piecewise-linear connection weight(2010-12-01) ;Thammano, AritRuxpakawong, PhongthepThis paper introduces a new concept of the connection weight to the standard recurrent neural networks-Elman and Jordan networks. The architecture of the modified networks is the same as that of the original recurrent neural networks. However, unlike the original recurrent neural networks whose connection weight is a single real number, in the modified networks the weight of each connection is multi-valued, depending on the value of the input data involved. The backpropagation learning algorithm is also modified to suit the proposed concept. The modified networks have been benchmarked against the feedforward neural network and the original recurrent neural networks. The experimental results on twelve benchmark problems show that the modified networks are clearly superior to the other three methods. © 2010 Springer-Verlag. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Item, Comparative study of health properties and nutritional value of durian, mangosteen, and snake fruit: Experiments in vitro and in vivo(2007-07-11) ;Haruenkit, Ratiporn ;Poovarodom, Sumitra ;Leontowicz, Hanna ;Leontowicz, MariaSajewicz, MietekIn vitro and in vivo studies of the health and nutritional properties of durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) were compared with snake fruit (Salacca edulis Reinw.) and mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana). Dietary fibers, minerals, and trace metals were comparable. Total polyphenols (mg of GAE/100 g of FW) and flavonoids (85.1 ± 6.1) were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than in snake fruit (217.1 ± 13.2 (mg of CE/100 g of FW)), durian (309.7 ± 19.3 and 61.2 ± 4.9), and mangosteen (190.3 ± 12.1 and 54.1 ± 3.8). Antioxidant activity (μM TE/100 g of FW) of durian measured by DPPH and ABTS assays (228.2 ± 13.4 and 2016.3 ± 81.1) was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than in snake fruit (110.4 ± 7.9 and 1507.5 ± 70.1) and mangosteen (79.1 ± 5.9 and 1268.6 ± 62.3). HPLC/DAD analysis of durian (μg/100 g of FW) showed that quercetin (1214.23 ± 116.7) was present at levels three times that of caffeic acid, and twice as high as p-coumaric and cinnamic acids. The correlation coefficients between the bioactive compounds of fruits and their antioxidant activities were high (R<sup>2</sup> = 0.99). Male Wistar rats (25) were divided into five dietary groups: the control group was fed the basal diet (BD); in addition to BD, the cholesterol (Chol) group was supplemented with 1% of Chol; the diets of the Chol/Durian, Chol/Snake, and Chol/Mangosteen groups were supplemanted with 5% of these fruits, respectively. It was found that diets supplemented with durian, and to a lesser degree with snake fruit and mangosteen, significantly hindered the rise in plasma lipids and the decrease in antioxidant activity. The nutritional values were comparably high. In conclusion, it could be suggested that inclusion of studied tropical fruits, especially durian, in known disease-preventing diets could be beneficial. © 2007 American Chemical Society.
